What are users saying about Harvard Business Review (HBR)

N70%
by N####:

The magazine is screen images of the magazine pages. It is slow to render & download. There are no links from table of contents or between themed articles. No easy access table of contents. Once you close the issue, you have to start at page one and swipe through the whole issue. The app is a pig. I expect better from HBR.

V70%
by V####:

Haven't been able to read an article yet because it keeps closing every time I try to open it. So much for all access!!!

E70%
by E####:

Once my Pixel C went to Nougat the app stopped working. It has been a long time coming, but it appears the new version works with Nougat.

N70%
by N####:

(1) I want the ability to highlight the parts meaningful to me, just like on a the Kindle app. (2) I also want to be able to save my highlights as an RFT, DOCX or PDF file. Cheers

N70%
by N####:

Apparently you have to pay for a third subscription type to use this app. Great innovated thinking HBR, while I am at it, I'll go back to a rotary phone too.

N70%
by N####:

Works, but is just a simple rendering of the paper magazine - only worse! If I want to go to page 56, I have to flip through pages, one by one to get there. It is the 21st century already, right...?

N70%
by N####:

Not working on Nougat / Pixel C. This is pretty frustrating as I do not use the physical version of the magazine. 5 stars when it's working though.

N70%
by N####:

Crashes immediately upon launch. Unusable. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Same thing. Running latest Android Nougat.

K70%
by K####:

HBR has obviously ignored this application. Terrible business processes - ironic and embarrassing for them. Frustrating for us.

by N####:

The constant ad ribbon at the bottom?? What do I pay a subsription for?

It's hard to believe this app is designed for such an industry leading journal, totally unreadable with overlapping icons - what a shame

X70%
by X####:

I've used the iPad app for many years. It was beautiful. Why does the Android version suck so bad? The new iPad version is just as bad. The page motion is jerky and random, like some sort of GIF viewer. This app makes me glad I still get the print version of HBR . Come on Developers, make it as good as the old iPad version, better yet, make it as good as The Economist app. I would be happy to beta test for you.

B70%
by B####:

All this app needs is about 100 more ads. Seriously, you pay for the subscription and then get a subpar app and what seems like more ads than a fashion magazine. I'm not opposed to ads at all, but it is very over the top. The content is good, but it's like they don't take their own advice. Other reader apps do a much better job than this. Article links aren't clickable, text isn't able to be resized, no single page view in landscape, moving pages acts weird when you enlarge the page, the list goes on.

X70%
by X####:

Very frustrating. Push sync button and nothing happens.

X70%
by X####:

Seriously, I can not access my account because the 'sync subscription' button takes me to a page that asks for my zip code and account number, but instead prompts me for first and last name, email, and account #. Upon providing the information for the prompts I get an error that my account can not be found. Perhaps this is because I'm not prompted for my zip code? Seriously - Anyone checking this app for quality?

Could not find account number! !

I'm a subscriber to both digital and print and couldn't figure out why my digital issues stopped downloading to zinio. Turns out this terrible app replaces zinio but I received no notice that the change occurred. Now I can't even download and read the issues I want because the icons are behind other images. Zinio want great, but at least it worked! OnePlusOne running Lollipop.

X70%
by X####:

Even after this new upgrade, the user interface is horrible. Overlapping icons and forms/pages that don't fit on my screen is sad to see from HBR. Considering the organization has extensive articles on how important the mobile space is, it should pay much more attention to it.

Q70%
by Q####:

It doesn't load properly across the screen on a note 4 or moto pure x. If it can't work on samsung or motorola which brand are they testing their apps for. After getting a full access subscription the app logs in but doesn't allow you to download mags without paying. Reading through the reviews it's like they don't care about fixing issues.

X70%
by X####:

You'd think an organization as business savvy as HBR would get it's act together digitally. On a Galaxy S4, renders horribly, with overlapping content and an inability to download magazines due to images overlapping links. Junk.

X70%
by X####:

Formatting is terrible, fields overlap, account doesn't sync, buttons don't work. I'm pretty sure any local highschool would produce a better quality result for free. I paid the $10 premium for mobile (which is ridiculous, BTW) and I feel violated like I got mugged. HBR, if this is the best you can do then just hit the delete button and pretend that it never happened.

X70%
by X####:

Does not handle my subscription, awful reading, stupid navigation. Flipping pages from top to bottom? Kidding?

X70%
by X####:

Poorly written app. Please return to publishing via Zinio and write a case study in HBR on how mobile development can go so wrong and hurt a reputable brand!

X70%
by X####:

Sorry to see so many having problems with this app. Works ok on my Asus tablet. Could definitely be more functional and user-friendly like easier navigation via hyperlinks.

X70%
by X####:

Looks like it was designed for tablets. Doesn't scale down to phone screen sizes.

Paid subscription via Android store but won't recognize. 0 stars if I could

A70%

Difficult to navigate. Poorly designed. Too many adds for the subscription price.

I am a new subscriber. The Android/iPad app came with my print+online subscription, but I cannot even sync my subscription to the Android app. Creating an app that does what it suppose to shouldn't be a problem for such a leader in the industry. Since it is so the company needs to do it and its subscribers justice and hire someone who can create/maintain an app that is beneficial. It will let me make a purchase though. I wonder if iPad users are having this issue however?

W70%
by W####:

Someone at HBR needs to address such a poor performance. This app does not reflect the HBR reputation. Please fix the app ASAP. There must be some accoutability here.

X70%
by X####:

This design is unreadable. I expected more from HBR.

L70%
by L####:

It is a shame that such good content gets eclipsed by such a bad container. The app's design is extremely bad, which is ironic as this month's issue deals with design thinking.

C70%
by C####:

What a horrible user experience. None of the buttons seem to work. The UI overlaps and things are cut off. I'm unable to even buy something even if I tried. How shameful is a company like HBR putting out garbage like this?
