Hatch Baby Rest for Android
Fantastic app and product! Many ways to customize each function to your specific needs. I'm not sure if the negative reviews are because people don't understand how Bluetooth works, or if they aren't generally tech savvy. The app works great with default settings, but I enjoy tailoring it to the routine my son is used to.
Update: I contacted customer service and after 2 emails they stopped responding. Bad product, poor customer service. It's a nice concept but I feel like a beta tester. There are functions that I feel should be there but are missing. The device itself is ok, but what kills the deal is the forced updates. They either won't go through or brick the device. Have two units that we're working fine. Now I have one unit I coaxed into working and one new paperweight. If this is how the product experience is going to be then no thank you
Won't connect after it made me update. You are your own worst enemy when you screw with stuff that is working! Buying a different product now.
I absolutely hate that some of these products need location services turned on. I understand that's a Google required setting but regardless it can be designed differently, not all products need location turned on. All the comments are absolutely correct. You will have issues connecting the device, you will be forced to reprogram it each time you can't connect. FIX THIS.. The app design is ugly and horrendous. For example you can set a start or bedtime of 7:30 but you can't select a end time. You have to select how many hours and minutes. WHY just let me select a end time.. Lots of other baby lights. You don't need this.
Can't access after first sign in, really need to get that fixed. The whole point of this product going in my daughter's room is for us to use it instead of blinding her eyes with the ceiling lights, fan lights, or lamps. Can I walk over and turn it on? Sure, can you code this thing so i can use it like a simple 10 dollar Bluetooth speaker can do with no headaches?? I'm sure you can. Post how to troubleshoot this thing or you will lose a customer and have plenty more who will not buy your product. On a side note, nobody buys this because of the sounds or colors, its the Bluetooth connectivity. Perfect bait and switch you pulled here with half of the product not available to use.
All told, a pretty decent device. One thing that I'd really like to see is the ability to have a widget that allowed me to control the device. On/off and favorite selection via widget would be a killer feature.
Didn't have any issues with connecting to the Rest. It works great. Touch ring is a nice feature. My baby loves it, and it has quite a few settings, sights and sounds. I haven't used the program mode yet (like ready to wake) but it sounds like a pretty cool feature as well. Can get confused with multiple phones/devices so just one at a time and no worries
While I enjoy the white noise function and the nightlight, it's a little frustrating that I cannot find it in my app drawer. I've had to just lock the active apps just so I don't have to go to the play store to open it. Am running the latest version of Android on OnePlus 5. Also, when I try to open other apps, hatch will randomly open itself up instead. So for now, it's a 2.5 for me but I've rounded to 3. It should be a bit easier to open without my having to lock it to my screen and it shouldn't be randomly opening itself when I try to open up Amazon or some other app.
Wonky interface with spotty connectivity. The whole point of this (pricey) product is to allow you access to your child's sound machine and nightlight remotely. It should be the height of convenience and--because it's an innovative gadget--come with a seamless app designed for the user. But connection is spotty and unreliable and the app is clearly not designed with the end user in mind. For example, when setting up programs, the time set system is needlessly complicated....using a simple, clean interface you select the hour and minutes the machine starts. Great! But to set the shut off time you switch to an interface that requires you to calculate how many hours/minutes the program runs. In other words, if the nighttime program comes on at 830 and I want it to go off at 715, I can't simply type in 7 and 15. I have to calculate that I need the machine to shut off 10 hours and 45 minutes from turning on. It's needlessly complex and makes something that should be simple cumbersome and frustrating. I also found the programs didn't reliably engage when expected or the machine shut off unexpectedly. For $20 I could overlook all of this but at the price I paid, this crappy app is inexcusable. What a huge disappointment.
I love this. It has made a huge difference in wake time for my 3 year old. Edited my review because Hatch fixed the issue I was having!
Update to my previous post of 2 stars. Troubleshooting trick: restart your phone. I installed an app update and once I did, my phone could not pair with the unit, even after I followed the troubleshooting guide. It finally occurred to me to restart my phone. It finally paired and so far, works like I expected. Customer service did offer to ship me put a replacement, but not needed. Happy with their quick response.
It will connect a couple of times and then the next time I want to connect, more often than not I have to restart my phone. Clearly the app needs some work. I love the concept as I've been able to combine two devices into one.
Connecting with Bluetooth is very undependable. Works inexplicably about 25% of the time. I'm convinced the bluetooth radio somehow goes into sleep now after a time but doesn't wake or something.
Horribly buggy app but absolutely necessary to work the device so you have no other options.
It's awesome when it works, but the connection is really unstable. I haven't been able to connect for days.
This app needs some work. It doesn't save into the memory and has to restart every time I switch away from the app. Would also like more overall functionality.
Won't connect to pixel 2 xl running Oreo no matter what I do. Cool concept but doesn't work.
Love everything about this! No issues and my daughter loves it. Will be getting a second one soon.
Can rarely if ever connect. Especially with two users.
Doesn't connect.
First day I received item I tried to update but every single time it failed. Also you constantly have to turn off your Bluetooth before starting application or it will never connect. You need to give the app the permission to use your Bluetooth every signle time you log in. Whoever coded this app must be someone with very little experience in coding. App needs to be properly optimized to work correctly with Bluetooth. On another the note, the concept is amazing. I would had given it 5 stars if it worked the way it was intended to work.
Product is great, but the app only loads and connects to the device 5% of the time at best. Really frustrating.
Product and customer support are both excellent
Location services ON or app doesn't work? I already paid for the product, don't make me share what I don't want to share and is definitely unnecessary. Abusive. I already paid for the product, you have no right to put me in this position at this time. I might return it soon.
I've love our Hatch Rest but twice this week it's turned off before the time set. This bug needs to be fixed for me to love it again. My little one needs her noise and light to sleep until it's time to get up.
Why in the heck does a night light need to know my location data. Completely unneeded data mining
Its great and Lara loves the prrtty colors she sees from the phone. It makes her laugh
App keeps resetting itself and forgetting my custom programs. Useless!
Love the app. Simple to set up and simple to use. I was happy to see the firmware updates once I connected it to my Hatch Baby. It makes me feel like they are improving on the product. I liked the Hatch Baby so much I bought 2. My only problem (and the reason for 4 stars) is that you can't control both devices at the same time. I'm required to disconnect from one to use the other. Definitely recommend the product. My kids love it.
Love my Hatch Baby Rest! It's the perfect amount of light to both be able to sleep and see my son, who currently shares our room. Love the sounds and the light hues, good adjustments available. My only issue is wondering why they need my location/gps turned on to use it. Surely Bluetooth will suffice? Location is a huge battery drain on my phone and truly seems unnecessary, and invasive.
Great app and product. Think about letting people play their own uploaded files and/or play files off Spotify.
It works well, and is fairly easy to use. My only complaint/suggestion would be to add numbers to the volume controls, as it's very hard to match up volume levels between different profiles. Still a great purchase!
So far we like the product. Although you can adjust the light and sounds, there is no option to fade slowly. So, say your kid falls asleep to your lovely lullabye music and then the time shuts off. Bam, baby is awake. Wish so bad that this had fade option for programs and timer.
The app will not even let me login. We already have a hatch grow that works great, hoping this light would be great too. So far it has been a huge let down. Update: App works and things are great. I wish there was just one Hatch app and wish that more than one user could sync to the hatch light but it is great nonetheless
It's beautiful and I love the sounds, but I can't use the app because it says there is an update. But the update fails every time, and even rendered my first machine inoperable. I've tried looking online for support or people with similar experiences, but it seems as if I'm the only one.
Won't start without location permission. Why does it need my location? And even with it on, it can't find the device.
Essentially impossible to use without the app, which never freaking works. What a waste of money.
Another must have from the Hatch Baby family. Extremely easy to use and our little one loves it.
I really like the sound machine and the concept of the app, but as other users have mentioned, the app connects to the device maybe 1-5% of attempted connections. I've tried to check out the app's troubleshooting page online and have faithfully checked through each step, but there's no improvement. It really seems to be an app issue. I urge the developers to do some self-reevaluation and put themselves into the position of their customers. This product needs to be better especially considering the cost of the sound machine.

I have been using this for one month. I love the concept of this product and app, but my app connects to hatch baby about 1% of the time. It drives me nuts throughout the night as I try to connect to modify settings sitting only 5 feet away. I keep being hopeful and it keeps failing me!
