NRSV Bible Apocrypha 5.0 for Android
I love the fact that there is a search option now, I had to use two bible apps cos ver.4 didn't have this function. Wld have given u guys a 4★ but u don't have an option to import bookmakers from the ver.4 to ver.5 But it is a nice app.
Love having this available for offline use. Agree that a night-mode would be awesome as that tends to minimize battery use & disturbance of others. Re: missing verses: foot notes in my hardcopy NAB indicate those cited (e.g. Acts 8:37) are typically omitted as they are thought to be more recent additions.
As an atheist I read the Bible to understand it better than most Christians do. For an ancient book with so many manuscript problems I've found the nrsv to be a relatively trustworthy translation. This free app makes it easier to look up verses during my study of textual criticism without having to lug around an actual paper copy.
Terribly amazing app. My search for the NRSV offline bible for a smartdevice ends here. Dear developer, may God bless you abundantly for the time and effort taken. My two suggestions for improvement, would be that 1. If you could headers for sections; like in the Gospel of Mark "The proclamation Of John The Baptist" - This header comes before the verse Mark 1:1 as a indication of the content of that section. Before Verse Mark 1:9 the header reads: "The Baptism Of Jesus" 2. Add Cross References. Similar example as above. Mark 1:1 has cross references to Mt 3:1-12; Lk 3:1-20; Jn 1:19-28 and Mark 1:9 has cross references to Mt 3:13-17; Lk 3:21-22; Jn 1:29-34. Please do let me know if any other information or help required from me to make this happen. Thank you once again and God Bless.*** One more the foot notes also if possible :)
There's no copy/paste. There's no night mode. This Bible is quite simple but for reading on the go it's exactly what I need. At first I thought books grouped by genre was interesting but if you know your Bible well it's very quick to get somewhere. Love that there are no distracting ads and that it is offline.
There is no stay awake function on this app
Best NRSV translation of the Bible I have found on Google play, although I wish there was the ability to find by category OR book (or new testament old testament >book>verse) rather than the categories, as I am unfamiliar with the categories and it is difficult sifting through them all to find a book.
Good app, finally found one that works for me. But needs improvement 1) chapter names are missing 2) bookmark across chapters not available 3) bookmark should list specific verse 4) copy option should be available in case need to send the msg 5) inverted color option should be available to support reading at night.
Extremely efficient and mobile too. But, when I view Psalm 151 and books without chapter selection they fail to load and the last viewed book chapter remains on the screen. Version 4 works fine but this update version 5.0 is a little buggy. Great app though. Jake.
The previous version of this app made it very easy to have the NRSV available without a signal. This version is even more convenient, with an improved interface. And it requires NO privacy-busting permissions. Thanks to the developer!
It's great to have the NRSV offline and free. But please have just three categories for the books of the Bible: Old Testament, New Testament, and Apocrypha. In that case I would give five stars.
Thanks for this great Bible app. God bless!!Please give an option for a Black Background with White Text. This will make reading easier for visually impaired people and also for reading at night. Please consider this suggestion. THANK YOU!
I love it. the only drawback I have is it doesn't have the stay awake function.
Excellent for finding and reading scripture, very easy to use, and I love that I don't need the internet and can use this app anywhere at any time.
Awesome truth, before our enemies tampered with the majority of it. Thank u for this app
I love the app, but if it had the ability to copy and paste verses it would be perfect. I also wouldn't mind having red letters for sentences Jesus said.
This bible is sorted by categories and not books. Unless you know what Apocrypha is, and how this app categorizes the books, like me you'll have to learn it. Having said that, this is 1 of only 2 NSRV apps in the Google Playstore and is definitely the better of the 2.
Really cool app. Downloads really fast. Simple and effective interface. More importantly- doesn't occupy too much space on my phone. Not going to uninstall it for a LONG time!
One less book to lug to church and no unnecessary permissions. Also free of ads. Thanks.
Great can be read anywhere, no internet requested,Thank you Lord
This app is really good... With no adds. Only if u could add one feature, sorting our bookmarks as per the books.
Very easy & simple to use. Fantastic Bible app. Thank you.
2 Peter 2 is duplicated under the title "Jude", while the actual text of Jude is missing.
I have been waiting for the NRSV for my device forever. It's a blessing to get it at last.
While doing some reading i noticed that Obadiah is the wrong content and verse quantity. Making me have to double check everything. Otherwise good app. Easy to use
Some verses are off, like Prov. 11:30, but nice for a free app
I was looking for the Bible of New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition, l found it Now. THANK YOU DEVELOPERS, GREAT WORK
Thank you for the transcendent idea of combining the apocrypha with the rest of the bible. I am loving it.
No bloat, no logins, no unnecessary extra features. Just a simple and straightforward bible app with no permissions and a small footprint. 5 star app, the only feature I miss is Jesus word s being in red letters.
Otherwise excellent, 5*!
Lovely and clear. Font adjustable, and no annoying pop-ups. Genius.
Hard to find scriptures though, as the books of the bible are arranged in "categories," with no option for a "normal" list view to browse.
Perfect way to study the bible while waiting out and about. Now I don't need to drag my huge bible with me! Love this app; simple, well organized, no ads and free! Can't get any better!
I am used to NRSV Bible, so I wanted a similar app on my device. Praise God I finally got it n also free. But it would be better if I could highlight, select, copy n be able to share the scriptures and also add night mode option. Please help me with that. God bless.
The following verses are missing in this bible app . Why it is missing. Something is wrong here. Just check it all users. Matthew 17:21, 18:11, 23:14 Mark 7:16, 9:44, 9:46 Luke 17:36, 23:17, John 5:4, Acts 8:37. Even the words JEHOVAH, CALVARY, HOLY GHOST and OMNIPOTENT are also missing. This bible is not complete I guess.
Big thanks to developer. The only addition that i would wish for is ability to change background and text colour. In shared living spaces at night when lights are out the white background gives a high glare. An inverted colour scheme greatly reduces the strain on the eye and disturbance to others. (This is something i wish from Google too in chrome etc. where reading is involved.)
The NRSV is the best overall translation for general reading and study. This app is intelligently categorized for quick and easy access, and inclusion of the Apocrypha ensures that it is thorough and comprehensive enough for any student of the Bible and/or believer. Five stars and two thumbs up!
Love the availability of this version of scripture at no cost. As an older user--and there will be ever more of us--I dislike the low-contrast treatment of type against background used in the table of contents. Light blue against white? This cannot be argued as in the service of the reader. Please consider changing this design choice. One's primary motive editorially must always be the service of the reader. Thanks.
The only New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Bible that looks pretty useful as an actual offline 'phone' Bible. However the only downside is that the design and layout I am not so keen on, I have seen better layouts before. But overall this app certainly beats those ones in accordance to my specifications.

I love the division into categories - that's going to help a lot of people new to the Bible to understand what they're reading. I like the lack of features and settings. It does what you need and it does it simply, quickly and without crashing. Nice one. One thing though - I think you should modify the name, I thought it was just the apochrypha.
