Heavy Metal Radio Hard Rock Radio for Android
My review echos a review made by someone in January 2016; it is now January 2017... A full year and the problem has not been fixed! This is a re-review complaint from myself! This app needs a lot of work! The audio stream stops by the player itself shutting itself off, randomly. You can not get the audio stream to restart until you fully close out the app and restart the app. Also, when incoming e-mails or texts happen, the app shuts down the audio stream by turning itself off. You can restart the audio stream without restarting the app this way, however. Uninstalled! Side note: Rotate the playlist!
I like the song selection, but the app constantly stops playing music; constantly need to press"listen". Therefore I can't leave phone in my pocket to enjoy. Unfortunately I'm uninstalling.
Love hard radio, been listening online for years but the app keeps dropping connection. Updated review 6 months later and still dropping connection...
I love this app, and its stability has improved a lot. I would love it if you could make it act as any other music player. For example, when connected via Bluetooth in my car, the display shows the last song I've heard in my music player instead of the song on the radio. Also, I'd expect it to pause when the phone is disconnected from an audio output, and it would be great if you add something in the notifications to allow for fast pause/play and exit. Thanks for the great work!
The app keeps stopping on its own, I have to hit the play button again and again. Why is this happening? Help please.
Awful, keeps stopping to play every 5mns!
Been around a long time. The Best !
Heavy Rock Radio
Hi ya! I've been really a fan of the app but unfortunately it has stopped working quite recently - say some weeks ago. It keeps connecting but nothing happen. Simply it doesn't play the music at all.
If you liked XM"S Boneyard from the early pre-merger days, you will like this channel.
Just keep switching off. I have to turn it on every few seconds.
I'm quitting the app, too buggy.
I too paid for an ad free version and there are ads at the bottom. But my main issue is the damn thing keeps shutting off! I have to keep hitting the power button on the amp! Wtf happened to this app?? Please help and fix.
Great metal mix new and old, classic, hard heavy, all...!
PAID FOR AD FREE VERSION AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE, CONTACTING GOOGLE

Where's the ad free version I and many others purchased? You can't just take it away, that's very poor business ethics. Later
With this years update, I can finally choose the best live stream again.
Works best on the 64k stream setting over a cellular network for me and it sounds good enough. Then I do bluetooth audio to my Ford Sync and its very good sounding. I only use the 192k while on wifi but thats not often. If you're having troubles try the 64k setting under settings while the app is up.

It's been awhile (almost 2 years maybe) since I checked here & last time I looked I don't think there was a way to actually listen on my phone. So freaking glad to have hardradio on my phone now! I love hearing & discovering great OLD AND NEW Hard Rock that I don't even hear on satellite radio. & I actually BUY music when I find stuff I really like!
I love this station, and listen to it quite a lot. The app is so bad though that when I listen from my phone I just open the stream directly from the browser instead of the app. The app crashes every time it's interrupted by another audio source, then the stream won't open again until you close the app and reopen it. To add to this, the app doesn't close on first try. Also, from what I've gathered you stream over tcp, which adds a lot of overhead, it might be a lot faster doing it over udp...
I liked the old look better, that was metal, now it's just another generic radio app.
With the new and improved app, hardradio just got alot better!
Clearly the best music selection on the internet. App shuts down frequently making it almost unlistenable. Go to their web page and listen.
Rock and Roll to the world
It was sssssz
Rock on! (Tracy was super helpful with a tech issue too)
This app is very good for hard rock lovers, very good streaming audio.
Not got a sound out of it yet, nice logo though....hmm

Nothing more to say. It works.
The station rocks, and I don't care about the app being slightly unpolished. But settings to control the buffer length and such would be great. I get buffering (even on my 50meg work line), and the continuous stops is VERY annoying. If the buffer was larger, it wouldn't happen I am sure. Some more control, then I will definitely up my rating to 4 (5 for more polished looks and and a more prominent NOW PLAYING area) :-) As for the people (like Eddie) who clearly have other problems, who revert to just labelling the app as "sucks", should wake the hell up.
There is no music played.Sucks.
Gives the wife a headache!!!!!
This app is great for those of us subjected to a constant barrage of chart crap on every channel you search. If you like the classics or just plain old thrash, this is the app for you. No crappy adverts to ruin your listening pleasure, just a steady diet of good honest metal, now and again they throw in a slowy just to give your head a rest.......... NICE !!
I've listened to stream from the site for many years and was happy to see an android app. Sound quality works great on both 3G and WiFi. I use both becuase I listen from home and work. Others have commented about hums and drop outs, so I tested both WiFi and 3G during the 15-minute window after downloading. No problems at all. Only reason I did not give 5 starts is that the interface reflects the web site, with the dials and the big red "on" button in the upper right. On the website, clicking the red button with a mouse on the web site is easy, but it's a bit harder on a touch screen.
Purchased and downloaded the app. music will play for no more that 5 seconds. During it's limited play time, there is a squelching sound.
on 3G, this thing doesn't work - 5-6 seconds of crappy sound with lots of squeals and scratches, then nothing. WiFi seems to be ok, but I bought it so I could plug into the stereo in the truck and listen from the road...
