Httping Tool

Httping is a command-line tool for measuring HTTP server throughput and latency, so we can easily run it via SSH from multiple locations. Httping is for pinging HTTP requests over the internet. This tool works on UNIX based system like Linux and BSD family. Httping does not only measure the time to get response from web servers, but also the time to send a request over the network and to get back the header response from the web server. Thus, it measures the latency of web servers and latency of network. The name, Httping comes from the similarities between ICMP ping and command line options.

Parameters can be measured :

- Server Throughput and Latency for HEAD or GET Command Request
- Detailed Information about Request - Response headers
- Average time measured
- Flexibility to change the parameter like Request Timeout, Interval between consecutive request, Ping Count
- Ping to custom port numbers
