HoneyBar (ROOT *required*) for Android
*** Important note for ICS users: Honeybar is unsupported on ICS and will not hide the UI bar. I have examined the source for ActivityManagerService and it currently appears impossible to stop com.android.systemui
Introductory pricing for a limited time only $0.99! Get it while it lasts.
With experimental TouchWiz support (enable button offset)
Google's not addressing this bug, http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15408, so I am! Tap to show and hide the status bar that doesn't ever go away!
HoneyBar is an application that requires root access to toggle visibility of the Honeycomb status bar on the bottom of the screen. Root access is required to allow the hiding to occur.
On initial use, HoneyBar will enter an introductory mode. During this mode, a white rectangle approximately 100x54 pixels in size will appear in the middle of the bottom of the screen. Tapping this box will toggle visibility of the status bar. When the status bar is present, the rectangle will appear in the status bar; when it is not present, it will appear at the bottom of the screen.
After successfully toggling visibility of the status bar 10 times, the white box will no longer appear. Even though the box is no longer there, you can continue to tap that same location to toggle the appearance of the status bar. If you want to revert to the introductory mode again, you can 'Enable intro mode' again.
Works great,a bit, laggy for me on my transformer though.
Update for use on ics.
Work great in samsung galaxy tab 7 plus p6200 rooted
touch area too wide overflows onto menu button, annoying.
I had to uninstall 1.0.4. Perry wrote me back and admitted it was screwed up, and offered to refund me if I purchased again and it didn't work (like I care about .99). 1.0.5 works perfect on my rooted Xoom. I like that I can "lock" my Xoom into one app, or webpage with this (and labs quick controls). Trust me. it's worth a buck
On one of my Apps got to full screen okay but couldn't reenable the notification bar
Would have loved but not at the moment. Its tends to not work with apps and freezes my transformer everytime. Example when im using dice player (video player) i press the box it works but after the box moves above the notification bar which is impossible to touch and activate. It also does this with the youtube app. Hope this problem gets fixed soon
this is just one of those apps you'd assume would be free. as the author put it it is such a basic bug not addressed by google. Anyways, it works, and only $1, so 4 stars. I'm on a rooted Transformer.
would be great if it worked. i see the white square (have to set it to offset so the touchwiz icon isn't conflicted with). I touch the white square, nothing happens. Aso have Go Launcher ex. Not sure what's causing the problem. will change stars if it works.
Sorry for the single star but Honey Bar never hid the status bar for a second on my 8.9. Neither did the free HideBar, so iI assume it's an issue with TouchWiz--which probably should be mentioned in the description. Keep my dollar ;-)
Works as it is advertised but I immediately noticed that moving between my different screens was incredibly laggy on Asus Transformer. Once I uninstalled the app everything went back to being it's normal snappy self. Please fix.
when trying to hit settings it just hides the bar, returned for a refund makes me sad as i was really looking forward to this app
really loving this app, but can you tramsfer the offset to the right instead of the left coz it sometimes blocks me from hitting the menu for some apps. thanks!
This is the type of applications I like to stumble across, it gives us the option to remove something that would have otherwise always been there. This is great for movies , games, applications. It gives us the full use of the screen without having the honeybar showing during everything we do, I hope they can add some more features down the road like being able to move the honeybar to the top or sides and a autohide feature also , plus the option to change its color would be nice, but great application either way.
When playing a game in portrait, it hides bar and replaces it with scrambles of color and lines. Occasionally images from the screen flash on it. Asus transformer
Hmm I bought it for my Acer A500, and it works, but I think the owner changed the devices it works with so now my device is not compatible with it. Please add the Acer a500 back to the list
Works well on my Transformer Prime, no lag. However I updated to ice and need it to support that now!
Ha! Freakin Fantastic .My Sammy 7 plus tab is so much better without the dang bar in the way. Hope I can use this app when ICS hits my update. Thank you for this App
Just woks. Exellent so far!
While i think that this app actually does an awesome job, i would like to see the possibility of turning the hide function off in portrait mode.
Good app, tapping hidden button to hide bar works well, but button overlaps menubutton in portraitmode, can be offset but that would cover quicklaunch buttons. Also, wallpaper won't stretch once bar is hidden, kind of annoying. Not important but app screen could be made to be easier on the eyes... Galaxy tab 7.7 p6800.
can we have an option to hide the bar from a notification, instead of the "target" area? sometimes notifications sit there, especially in portrait small-screen tablets, and it's impossible to click them directly now. would be great to: - hide from notification list - show from target area
works great for me on a mobii tegra with vegacomb, i'm glad google allowed it back on the market.
This is a good app especially for those new AMOLED based tabs (7.7) as this will prevent the status bar from burning into your screen (as HAS been happened). It would be nice if there was a virtual option where all of the functions of the bar worked but the bar just isn't shown. Also a Windows type option, where when you tap the virtual area the bar slides up, and after you make your selection the bar automatically slides back down, and after several seconds if nothing is selected it auto hides as well.
Best toolbar apps, no regrets worth every penny. Best thing in the whole Android market and online. BUY IT!!!!
I have only used this while playing some games so far, but it has worked great.
I tested calling my device while the status bar is set to hide and there is no incoming call alert appears, them I tap to unhide the bar and the incoming call alert appears... used to be 5 stars, please fix because this is so useful apps. Thanks. GTab 7.7 (GT-P6800)
With this app now I love my tablet much more, the status bar is so annoying in many apps. However there seems to be a problem on Galaxy Tab 7.7 in portrait mode, with button offset enabled the button overlaps with the menu button on apps that has it. Would it be possible to add another option to set the burron offset to the right instead of left? Thanks!
perfect in every way.
Works great does exactly what I want but portrait and landscape mode need delay options so if you push a button in that area its not always disappearing or popping up, EVO View running HC :D
Needs ICS compatibility otherwise worthless.
not the app but im stuck on version 1.0.3 becasue my acer a100 isnt compatible according to the market, also on my a100 (7 inch) the hide button overlaps the menu button
Simple and effective.
Does what it says. Would be great if I can move the tab to another position. Also lags the home screen but it's not a dealbreaker.
Thank's to this app i may prevent screen burn on my 7.7.
This app took care of the biggest annoyance I've had with Honeycomb. From what I understand, these apps all do basically the same thing. They kill and restart the process that displays the status bar. Well, this one is well implemented and the ability to call it back works perfectly. Works great on my Dell Streak 7 (HC 3.2).
needs update for ics... no hide blows please update soon
I really hope you get it working on ice cream sandwich . Since i updated my tablet i am really missing it. Will give five stars again when you sort the ICS fail :)
Essential for honeycomb! Would be nice if there were more customization options- such as a gesture for bringing back the bar or putting the hotspot in another location. But until ICS hits, this is essential for my Iconia A100

Works perfectly on my galaxy tab 10.1 I have zero complaints
