Yellowstone GyPSy Driving Tour

This is a great app with one caveat: the tour guide narrates the tour by saying"we" or "us" and it's kinda creepy! "Are we stopping here?" "I'll narrate for us." Why the tour guide couldn't address "you" instead of "we" is beyond me. Other than that, this app does an amazing job of guiding tourists around the park. Lots of interesting information and points of interest. I got to see a lot of the park most people miss. The narration points out landmarks so you know when to turn off and it helps keep driver's eyes on the road. If you can get past the creep factor, this is a very good app.

This App is AWESOME! I learned things during our trip and saw things I would never have otherwise seen. Without any cell coverage or Wi-Fi, this app performed flawlessly while off line. I will use all other apps by Gypsy whenever I'm traveling. A+

Sounded awesome but never worked right. Kept telling us things from opposite areas. I could have gotten the same info from Google without wasting time and money on this app.

This was an amazing tour experience and a major contributor to why we had such a great time at Yellowstone. It's an essential app because it makes sure you don't miss any cool stops, even if they're lesser known. I do have some constructive feedback though. There's a bug where if you drive too fast and hit a talking arrow before the previous one finished talking, then it would activate the previous one to start over instead of starting the new audio clip. Another thing that would be really helpful is a feature to automatically stop music playing from the phone when an audio clip begins and then resume music when the clip ends. I like listening to music in the car and this would allow me to listen to both music and the tour guide.

This was the perfect tour app for first time visitors on a driving tour. Not only does it give a description of the sights prior to reaching the locations, it also talks a little about the history, the biology, chemistry, geology, and physics of various features. Just enough to keep those who are inquisitive satisfied without getting overly technical. The speaker is fun, interesting and inviting and is a pleasure to listen to.

What a fantastic tour. We're full time RVers and travel around frequently. We loved the Yellowstone tour and will be in Moab, UT in a few weeks. Can't wait to use Arches and Canyonlands while we're there.

We go to yellowstone every year. This app was just the right finishing touch to help us find more interesting places and facts. LOVE THIS APP!

So helpful, was perfect for deciding which stops to make in Yellowstone. Gives you plenty of notice prior to each attraction. Glad we got it!

First and foremost definitely get this app if you are going to Yellowstone. I will admit he does overhype some areas. Most are quick stops and are still good to see. Also, there was a trail closure at Tower Watch that does not let you see the falls from below. So some things may be different depending on closures. I loved all of the information he gave about the park and all the information about the animals that was covered.

We just spent 4 days in Yellowstone using this guide. It's like having your own personal tour guide in your vehicle. The voice is very likeable and the information accurate. The guide helped us see really cool things we might have missed plus it was very educational. When we visit other parks, we'll definitely take these guides along. Highly recommended.

We wanted to visit the park on our own and not be tied to a tour or pay hundreds for a guide. This was perfect! We went at our own pace and the app made a great companion. Lots of great insight for a 1st time park visitor. We hadn't done a ton of research and this app brought us to a lot of great points. We had to skip portions because we did it all in one day. But, the app kept up with us.

We absolutely loved the app and so did the kids. They nicknamed the narrator "Ranger Rick", and made sure we had Ranger Rick turned on whenever we were driving. Tons of interesting information. An absolute must have if you're visiting Yellowstone. We will definitely try their tours for other locations in the future.

I'm in Yellowstone and looked forward to using this. The previews play just fine when we are in our motel. When we are in the park the GPS is working and picks up our location. The audio descriptions appear to come up but there is no sound. Don't think it's my fault as the sound works fine elsewhere. To add insult to injury when I called the help number it had been discontinued. Might be understandable in a free app but not one that is purchased

This was the best way to drive through Yellowstone. No need for an internet connection. Our guide knew exactly where we were with GPS and continued guiding wherever we were. He's funny, scientific, insightful and very helpful. We need more tours from Gypsy, please. Loved it!!

Worth every penny. My kids and wife loved the app. we nicknamed the app "Stan the Driving Man". My only suggestion would be to add more information for the south entrance, several falls with no information.

However, as others have reported the audio restarts erratically.

We would have never seen or learned half the great things that this app knows. It made our trip very memorable!

Takes a bit to lock in on GPS, but once it does it works well. Very informative!

I love this way more informative then any maps we got and much less expensive than a tour

My kids and I loved this app. They decided to call the "guide" Edward. We all enjoyed hearing the information he had to share. We actually felt sad when we left the park and knew we wouldn't be hearing from him again! I have already recommend this app to 2 friends who plan to visit Yellowstone.

It is very accurate and informative app. It is like having a personal guide sitting next to you. It starts automatically when near the destination. And when there is nothing around you, it will fill that gap with some good stories/facts. Keep up the good work developers.

Great commemtary. Not boring. Suggested great stops that we would have missed otherwise. Gave us plenty of warning for turn offs. Will use this for any other National Parks we go too that have this app.

I hate paying for apps, so even with the positive reviews I debated whether or not to buy this tour app. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND THEN SOME! I know it's hard to believe but it really doesn't need cell service (which you will rarely find in the park). The audio commentary is extremely informative and very well timed as you drive. I will absulutely recommend this to anyone who wants to drive themselves around Yellowstone. Can't wait to purchase other tour apps from these guys!

It was great handy app in my recent Yellowstone visit. Didn't miss a detail on the road. Worth buying. The only problem is the battery consumption. make sure that your phone is connected with power supply

This app made our yellowstone family vacation even more if a success. It worked perfectly even with no service in the park (as developer emphasizes several times in the description). It was so cool to have it tell us about things coming up, turn-offs we might want to take, history if the park, wild life, etc. This was a steal for $5 and I will be recommending to anyone I know going to yellowstone. Me and my family just got back from Yellowstone, and it was amazing! We got really lucky with animal sightings and a couple of days it was like we were the only ones there! This commentary was perfect. The history is interesting, and we would have missed a lot of stuff (like the petrified tree or the 6 mile drive where we saw some amazing animals eating or laying down). I will recommend this app to anyone planning to go to yellowstone! Just be prepared for the people. They're a disrespectful nuisance.

I went to Yellowstone for the first time recently and bought this app out of curiosity. If it wasn't for this, I don't know how many places I would have missed and I even learned about the parks history which added to the experience. Thank you very much for providing this!

This app was like having a really smart family member in the car who isn't at all annoying. We learned tons of history as well as the science of the park's features. The kids were tuned in the whole time and we saw things we'd have certainly missed without it. Highly recommend!

This app is phenomenal. The first thing you should be aware of is there us NO cell service when you get into the park. With this app that is not a problem. The app follows you by the GPS in your phone and tells you the turns to take to get to the various destinations. There is lots of great commentary about the various spots and even suggests destinations along your route. This app was a great use of $5.

This app was wonderful! Make sure to download before you leave home or while you have a great wifi connection. I had it before leaving home but my sister did not (she was in a different car) she had to get to a good wifi spot to get it. Overall well worth the money!

This app helped make our Yellowstone experience not only fun but VERY educational. Bob, as we named our guide, points out spots you must see and we would have otherwise drove past. It also does a great job of filling some of the longer travel gaps with good information. Wish there were more guides for other surrounding parks.

This app allowed us to see as much as possible in 1 day. Made great suggestions. Knew when we changed course . we did lose connection about 3/4 way in and was never able to reconnect, which we were bummed. Our battery ran out too, which was fully charged going in, and plugged in durning drive, so have an alternate device with app already loaded and primed. Takes about 5 minutes to load app and get started. But overall WELL worth the money. Great asset to our trip. Wish they had Tetons and more (Bryce,..:)

I hate spending even 99¢ on a phone app, but I have no regrets here! We named the tour guy Fred. All the reviews are true. Fred is funny, gives interesting&useful information, &was a pleasure to drive around the park with. A few things I was a little disappointed about, though: the map is stuck in vertical orientation, &there is no option to rotate the map. Also, there was a spot or two where the commentary was too long & the next spot came up before Fred finished talking. Otherwise, THANK YOU, GyPSy&Fred!
