Free Calgary Banff GyPSy Tour for Android
This app predownloads everything so no data is used and as you drive based on your GPS gives pretty recorded messages with info and directions. Bought all of Banff and Hawaii apps and made all my trips very interesting and stress free.
We found this app to be indispensable when we drove from Calgary to Banff
If you are planning a trip to the National Parks, Canadian Rockies, Hawaii or Las Vegas, get the GyPSy Guide app and buy the associated guides. You load the app at home, then turn it on while you are driving - so there are no data charges during your drive. It uses GPS and narrates your drive as you go along. For Banff National Park, it had slightly different information for each direction of the drive. A friendly narrator gives historic, quirky, and always interesting information about the sights. We used one free tour and bought two for $10 - it made the trip delightful.
This is my first time using a tour guide app like this and I'm so glad that I did. The GPS locator is very accurate. Direction is clear and easy to understand. Information is fun and educational. I'll buy from GyPSy for my future travel. One suggestion is that it'll be helpful to provide estimated point to point driving time in the Highlight section.
Works great!...out feels like having a local tour guide in your car
Not as good as it appears to be.
Had no problems, Leraned lots of new thing about where I live.
It really was great having this app while driving. I linked it to the Bluetooth in the car and it played over the stereo. I was able to use my tablet which only had Wi-Fi with no problems. The GPS knew exactly where we were.

Works well. Wish it worked in both directions though.
Grabbed all of the guides for the Rockies. Very happy how they all worked on my tablet. Most of the guides work in both directions which is handy if you are driving back over the same route.
Great app for Canada trip
Try this excellent free app and then seek out the free WiFi at Starbucks in Banff to buy and download the Icefields Parkway one when you realise how much it adds to your journey.
The Canadian Rockies GyPSy apps worked very well. We loaded them a few weeks before our vacation. Once we got onto the TransCanadian Highway (16th Ave) in Calgary the app worked as described. The GPS and maps were quite accurate and give you a few moments notice before reaching a destination or a turn. We enjoyed the commentary and learned a few new facts as we traveled. I used the actual GyPSy device a few years earlier on a previous vacation and these apps worked just as well - saving me quite a bit of money! These apps did NOT require my phone or data service to be active - it only needed the GPS. I recommend purchasing these if you will be driving through the Canadian Rockies. If you want to test it out, try the free Calgary to Banff app then purchase and download when you reach Banff.
I found this guide app the night before leaving for Calgary and it was a perfect find. This app practically runs itself and got us to Banff without a hiccup. The narrator, who we nicknamed Stewie, is informative and entertaining at times. The best part is that it doesn't use any data plan, so it's perfect for non-Canadians and kept us from getting lost a few times.
Great App, was very interesting
We loved this app and bought several of the other Canadian Rockies tours. You'll be amazed at how much information it contains. It was a great companion as we worked our way toward the most beautiful land I have ever seen.

Great app....only learned about it when I was in my hotel in Canmore. All these tours have commentary to the destination plus return. Unfortunately this one stops when u get to banff. We would be wished enjoying more as we drove back to Calgary but really nothing bad to say. It's so freaking amazing and will use it over and over.
