About Gunks+
The Gunks+ app is a complete digital guidebook to the Trapps, Near Trapps, and Peter's Kill areas of the Shawangunks. It covers rock climbs and bouldering problems in the Mohonk Preserve, Minnewaska State Park, McKenzie Pond, and Thacher State Park in New York; Haycock Mountain, Governor Stable, and Birdsboro Quarry in Pennsylvania; Mountainside Park in New Jersey; and more.
Climbs are accessed from a list, which is searchable by name, grade, or route number. Selecting a climb reveals a base photo, the route's description, and a high-resolution zoom-able aerial topo photo. The topographic photos include belays, rappelling information, variations, and new link-ups.
The app includes GPS to find the nearest climb, a Tick List, a To-Do List, Cloud backup, and lots of filters. It also has a gallery of professional photographs and an informational kiosk for the community to share announcements.
This app was created by local climbing fixtures Christian Fracchia and Byron Igoe, and further content was contributed by Andy Salo, Hillary Guzik, Paul Jung, Tim Keenan, Aleks Shineleva, Marty Molitoris, Mike Rawdon, Char Fetterolf, Chris Lopez, Ryan Shipp, Justin Sanford, Monica Blount, Jeff Moss, and Ted Coffelt.
The Gunks+ app is an indispensable resource for both the seasoned veteran and the first time climber.

Excellent app, I've been using it since the beginning and the developers continually improve and expand the app. This app is vastly more helpful than any other guidebook or app I've used, especially at both finding the approach and finding the routes. More than once I've encountered the developers while climbing at The Trapps, so I can attest that they are active climbers, intimately familiar with the area, and have invested a great deal of time and energy into this. The price is really a bargain for what you get. The developers are also very responsive, helpful, and open to feedback. Only small downside is that it uses a lot of internal memory, and the data can't yet be installed on an SD card (hopefully that feature will be added in the future). But considering the volume of hi-res photos, the app is actually quite efficient with memory.
