FEATURES:

- Fast Searches
gSho is designed to provide you with lightning-fast results for any query in either Japanese or English! Search-as-you-type reduces the amount of characters required to find a particular word, and wildcards give you better control over how to narrow down search results. In addition, a built-in IME allows you to quickly switch between English and Japanese kana input. After activating it, any text entered into the search box will be automatically converted into Hiragana or Katakana as you type!

- Kanji Lookup
Search for kanji by components! gSho automatically narrows down the list of available components based on what you’ve previously selected, too, so you spend less time finding what you need.

- Detailed Entries
Like any good dictionary, gSho displays parts of speech and definitions, as well as detailed kanji information and verb conjugations. Example sentences provide well-needed context for figuring out which situations are best to use a particular word or phrase. Kanji stroke order diagrams show detailed stroke orders for over 6600 kanji!

- Tagging
Create your own tags, and apply as many of them to entries as you wish! The Vocab section enables you to easily go back and review tagged words at your convenience. Simply select a tag to pull up all words associated with that tag!

- Example Sentences
Tap any example sentence to bring up a detailed breakdown. Key words in the sentence are highlighted and can be tapped to instantly bring up information about that particular word. Alternating colors also help visualize where one word ends and the next one begins!

- History
gSho’s History keeps track of the last 100 entries you’ve viewed and sorts them chronologically.

- Kana Tables
gSho includes comprehensive hiragana and katakana tables! With a tap, you can switch between either for a quick reminder on the difference between ソ and ン, or whether you’re reading ぬ or ね.

- Search via the Share menu
If you need to look up a word you find in another app, simply highlight the word and select "Search in gSho" from the Share menu! gSho will automatically launch and search for the selected word.

- Offline Support
gSho does not require an internet connection at any time! Links to external third-party resources require internet access, but none of the app’s functionality is compromised because your device is offline.

- Optimized For All Devices
Tablets like the Nexus 7 and up will take advantage of the additional screen space with a two-column layout that doubles the number of visible search results.

Stroke order is a must! Therefore, I have downloaded IMI for the time being. Implement that and this would be 5 stars—6 stars if audio was included :p

This app is great, but it would be perfect if it could be tweaked just a little. whenever I search up a word, and then select one of the search results, once im done viewing that result and I tap the "back" button, the search clears and I have to type everything in again. There are definitely many other improvements that could be made besides just this, but for now, this app still proves to be useful

Awesome Japanese dictionary

You have lots of examples, and you get to know the Kanjis' reading 読み方, VERY CONVENIENT!!

L70%
by L####:

Its search is fast if and only if you completed a word. Search is separated in English mode and Kana (Japanese reading) mode. There is no preview writing Kanji step by step. It only shows numbers. Kanji lookup is a very nice feature.

kind of cumbersome to search with. You need to switch between kana input and latin input if you want to search for Japanese or English words. You can't write with latin characters and get both japanese and english results at the same time. Also when searching in Japanese you must use wildcards to see words that start with what you have typed so far. That is たと gives no results at all, but then when you enter one more characters and type たとえ you get a result. The UI and ads also take up a lot of space, so with the keyboard open when you type your search term you only see 3 results and it feels very crowded.

I don't have to change to Google Japanese IME everytime i wanna search in hiragana, so that's good.. Example sentences are hyperlinked just in case I don't know what it means.. But there's no stroke order so that's 1 minus

Love the appearance compared to other apps. Searches very quickly, but would like to see more common words at the top. One feature that I miss is being able to restrict searches to common words à la WWWJDIC. Kanji search would be an awesome feature, too.

A more complete conjugation table and a toggle for furigana would be nice. Also, it would be great if the keyboard would pop up automatically on app start. Thanks!
