The problem probably rests with my smartphone, which is a Motorola Droid Min running Android 4.4.4. This phone comes equipped with a tethering subscription service called Mobile Hotspot/Mobile Broadband Connect. When starting Wifi Hotspot Free, the phone switches to text telling how to subscribe to Mobile Hotspot/Mobile Broadband Connect, and that's the end of the game. Unless, Wifi Hotspot Free can get around the built-in service, it's no good to me.
