About Ruler
Photo Ruler is designed to accurately determine the size of any object by either taking a picture of it or measuring it on the screen. With its simple user-friendly design Photo Ruler allows you to measure things just as conveniently and precisely as with a traditional ruler or tape measure.

How to use Ruler:

Firstly, please ensure that the object you wish to measure and the object of known length (Base Item) are in the same picture. Double tap on screen to call ruler settings. There is a predefined list of Base Items, including Debit/credit card and Quarter. Select the one you have. It is advised to use the Base Item which is closest in size to the object you wish to measure using Ruler.
Secondly, ensure that the Base Item and the object you wish to measure using Ruler are in the same plane and the ruler camera is (or was) parallel to them. This is necessary to avoid image distortions caused by the ruler camera perspective.
Align the Blue arrows against the Base item and Green arrows against the object you want to measure. The length of the measured object is shown in the top left corner of the Ruler screen.
Ordinary ruler:
Use screen as a traditional ruler. You can measure size of a small object by placing it on the device's screen and adjusting line limiters against the object. The size of the object will be show at the bottom of the screen automatically. If you see that ruler’s scale is visually stretched/ shrunken, you can reset ruler calibration manually. On-screen ruler can be calibrated using different Base Items, including Debit/credit card or coin. Double tap on screen to call settings. Choose between Imperial (inches) and Metric ruler (centimeters).
Accuracy of Ruler:
Given that you have accurately aligned markers, you will receive a measurement that is as precise as when using a traditional metric ruler or tape measure.

Confusing to figure out, would be helpful if the actions/buttons were labeled instead of just the icons. Also, when adding a ruler/measurement, it adds directly on top and duplicates the prior one so you can't even tell there is a new one. A great app once you figure it out but could be labeled better for easier use.

Tried to use the app several times, no matter what I did, the app would crash. Id start it up again, maybe get 1 step further then crash. Never was able to measure anything because the app kept crashing.

At first it seemed odd to me for i didn't understand the instructions:)) so i watched the video and now everything became clear and i realise how amazing this app is. The programmers anticipated everything a user might ask to such a low budget tool with staggering accuracy. It worth a 5

This app is supposed to do exactly what I want. However it is useless because it does not work. With the reference object set to 28 inches, the green arrow shows 10 inches when set exactly the same as the reference object.

I just want to measure a suitcase but this is so complicated you need an advanced degree to figure this out, which I have, and I still can't figure it out. Uninstalling it.

*laughing .. great idea for an application, unfortunately, it keeps stopping and wouldn't let me calibrate. I have a galaxy s7, was hoping it would work with an upto date system.

Has potential but the user interface is terrible and the measurements are wrong. Even after numerous careful attempts to calibrate using a ruler, it is consistently off by 1mm.

Is there a paid ver. to get rid of ads? Wow, alot of people saying it was hard to use... Downloading the app over 4G and then setting up the photo to measure my window for blinds took only like 1 minute. Saved me time running to the old house to get a tape measure. Now I don't even need a tape measure as long as I have my phone. Great app, would spend a few bucks for an ad free version.

For those who want to bash the app... Take the time to read instructions. You are basically using selected items as a reference to scale the measurements. Depending on the distance you are at, the base item is either smaller or bigger, so you need to line up the blue arrow. Click the circular + button and add the green arrow and adjust to the things you want to measure. Done! Wonderful app, you should include pop up tutorial on the first go at it. Also, you should let us capture our own items to measure. I would love to measure things with my girl friend's naughty toys, randomly place it on things haha.
