About Congregation Gesher L'Torah
The GLT app was created to help build a closer-knit community among members: you can join conversations, share photos, learn about events, and find contact info for all members. GLT's purpose is to build a community that embraces everyone's unique story, offering meaningful Jewish insight in a personal way.
What’s your story? Judaism is full of history, tradition, and, most of all, stories. At Gesher L’Torah, we are building a community that embraces everyone’s unique story, offering meaningful Jewish insight in a personal way. Come see for yourself what a personal Jewish experience is all about.
Why GLT? Everyone’s got their own personal reason, but here are some of our favorites:
· Groundbreaking Flexible Religious School program
· Building Fund credit for Atlanta-area synagogue transfers
· Amazing Preschool with special member rates
· Social, Educational, and Community programs for all ages
· Unique Torah readings in Hebrew and English…simultaneously
History of GLT. In 1998, some brave and enthusiastic families in the North Fulton Metro Atlanta area joined together with a mission in mind; a mission to fill a void in this northern suburb community for a conservative synagogue, actually at the time, for any kind of synagogue. After several community meetings to confirm interest and to organize, the North Fulton Jewish Center (later renamed Congregation Gesher L’Torah, Bridge to Torah) was born.
In 2008, 10 years after we started with 12 families, we were now over 100 families and it was time for the biggest project in GLT’s history. After searching the area, it was decided that the best place to build the new permanent home of Gesher L’Torah was right where we were, 4320 Kimball Bridge Road.
In January of 2009, Phase I of the GLT building plan was complete. We moved in and dedicated our beautiful building with new offices, preschool and religious school facilities, and a sanctuary. As we look towards the future of continued membership growth, we look forward to continuing our facilities growth as well.
Shalom!
I am happy to welcome you to Congregation Gesher L’Torah, a vibrant and dynamic Synagogue community where Judaism is personal and each person’s story is embraced. I was ordained as a conservative Rabbi at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York in 1999 and came to GLT in 2009 to serve as spiritual leader. I have always had a special interest in finding new ways to experience the ancient and timeless wisdom of our tradition in contemporary and impactful ways. For me, the most important goal of a synagogue community is to foster a meaningful connection to being Jewish for every participant, whether in religious services, marking significant moments in life, or in getting together with family or friends. My wife Tracie and our children Ayelet, Yaron and Liana look forward to seeing you at GLT in the near future!
