Unite Students Laundry App
Use our latest smart-scan technology - and pay for your laundry with your phone.
Make doing the laundry less of a hassle with a mobile app that's as easy-to-use as our washing machines and dryers! The Unite Students Laundry app lets you top up your Unite Students app account* in seconds, and then you're good to go...just turn up at your nearest Unite Students launderette, load your laundry, scan a machine's QR code and select the programme you want to start - job done! Your credit will be adjusted automatically so you'll always have your Unite Students account balance to hand. No need to stay and watch your washing.
Once the washer or dryer gets going the app also gives you a countdown** that tells you how long there is to go until your laundry is done.
* Please note that your Unite Students app account is separate to your laundry card account you access from the Circuit website. If you haven't used the Unite Students app before you will need to sign up separately on the app. Balances from your laundry card cannot be transferred to your Unite Students app account and vice versa.
**The app will rely on your phone having a wi-fi, 3G or 4G signal inside the laundry room to activate the machines - and also to see the countdown on the cycle if you leave to do something else while your wash completes. As long as you're connected, you can see how long is left on your chosen cycle and get on with other things instead of waiting in the launderette.

You accept that you have a non-exclusive licence to use the app. You agree not to copy the app or infringe our intellectual property rights in the app.
The minimum amount of top-up credit you can buy is £5.00. Your payment will be processed through PayPal and Unite Students will not hold any card details.
You can apply for a refund of part-used top-up credit by emailing us at apprefund@circuit.co.uk with details of registered email address, the date of the in-App purchase, the amount of credit purchased, and the amount of credit to be refunded. No refund will be given on balances of less than £5.00. Refunds will incur an administration charge of £3.00, which will be deducted directly from the refund value. Refunds will be made using the payment method used for the purchase. No refund will be processed for any free credit. Unused credits will expire 12 months after the date of purchase. Forces you to use PayPal, as my AmEx isn't beeing recognised. Timer is off sync, the app crashes, topping up is a pain in the butt, and it's about three times the price of decent machines that work. Come on guys, you could make a decent app just by spending more time on it. I love the idea, but the result isn't here.

The app is slow, sometimes charges the account and doesn't start the machine, no way to change password, timer is out of sync with machine - I could've written a better app as a school project. Wouldn't even mind as much if it was cheap, but £4.50 for every wash and dry - it's daylight robbery! The least you could do is give us a working app - I'm sure you can afford it!

Absolutely rubbish: machines dont work and still charge you. If I want a white and a dark load it costs me £7 for a wash and dry that leaves my clothes smelly and damp. Minimum top up is ridiculous and there's no need for this to be app run. Bring back coin machines.

What was wrong with the old system for them to implement this garbage? App doesn't link with QR code. Typing it in manually doesn't always connect to the machine. And to top it all off, twice this has happened - when the app tells me the cycle has finished, the machine has actually frozen at a random minute and the clothes are soaking wet.

Prices increased when they removed the coin system. Why? This digital system requires you to hire less staff and pay less wages since no one has to collect the coins anymore. So why did the prices go up. They should have went down.

A bit pricey for a launderette and the app itself could do with significant improvement. Another problem I've had the joy of experiencing is that the machine will finish about 15 mins later than the app will claim. Any thoughts, developer?

It works, it's just annoying, min topup is £5, a wash is £3, drying is £1.70, meaning at the end of your stay you'll have left over. A wash is 35 min, not sure why the timer shows 30. Top up works, but conversion rate is terrible, so don't use PayPal conversion rate.

Constantly goes down and helpline only says 'wait for reception to open'. It's slow and keeps on shutting it's self down. Unreliable and just generally rubbish. The app should be an option, not mandatory. Make the machines have a coin operated option. Most of the features advertised simply don't work like the timer and viewing other machines for availability. Typically poor effort from unite students.

Not only were the machines not working, the app doesn't reflect it. While i'm lucky that no amount of money was deducted, i still lost £20 due to topping up the account, with no refund available to me for the horrible service.

Appauling doesn't even work on android! Took over 40 minutes to get the machine to work and that was off a friends phone.What about people who can't afford a smart phone to download the app? Go back to coin operated.Won't be using this service again will be doing my washing when i go home.

Unresponsive, rarely compatible with other systems...including PayPal. Will need a newer model phone for the QR scanning to work. Customer Service at Circuit is bad, don't recognise issues or faults.
