York Region Travel Alert is a real-time personalized traffic reporting system for the Regional Municipality of York on your smartphone. With hands-free visual and audio feedback advising you of traffic conditions on your route, you’re always aware of any traffic congestion well in advance. Travel Alert will change the way you drive!
Using anonymously collected data gathered from live users and the knowledge of your saved routes, Travel Alert guides you to your destination with informative, real-time updates. It’s like having a personal traffic helicopter watching your route every time you get into your car.
You can also participate actively by reporting a traffic tip by pressing a button on you phone which will connect you to our traffic center where you can provide us with real-time update on the road conditions. Didn't bother to look for it before and commuting is a pain. Now that I have this I guess I can actually worry less while I drive. Love the traffic data, I can instantly decide which route to take.

I installed many apps on my phone. Yet, I only use each app several times and then I forget about it. I am so impressed with York Travel Alert App because it notified me a traffic jam last week even without launching the app. Now I use the app everyday and I think it's pretty good! Highly recommend to anyone who drive a lot like me.

Looks like i finallly found the right app for york. Voice alert is great since i can just hear whatever happens on the road. The report feature ia useful too. Overall i like this product, will keep using for a while.

Have been waiting to get this since sometime ago. Hvnt actually used it since I just dld it tonight and need to wait till tmr but already have a few things I think this can improve on: 1) when finding a route there seems to be no option to choose alternate routes 2) again when finding route should have options to choose whether going on highways/ paid routes or not 3) in general there should be a better menu.. Will wait till I use it more to give more feedback but so far a big thanks for making the app!

I think the feature this app offers are awesome. It's a tad painful for someone living in condos where network is not available in the underground basement thus can't launch the app. That's not too difficult to work around. The thing that is buggin me the most is that it'll let you know what's slow.. but doesn't tell you how to get around the traffic.. It also doesn't give turn by turn instructions.. It allows you to save route and get popular routes from community but the app doesn't help you to use the route by giving direction instructions.. Also, the map hanged while I tried to record a route I normally take to get around traffic.. This follows with the question about why can't I draft a route manually and instead I have to record it.. I commute from 401 & McCowan to King & Dufferin every day.. There are around 3 main route I can take depends on traffic.. It would be awesome that the app can tell me which route is the best.. I guess it can be accomplished in the future giving the feature.. I have high hope for this app! keep it up.
