Don't waste your money with this company. My mother was lost tonight and the app failed to locate her. This app has failed multiple times and when I needed it to work, totally failed. I do not recommend Great Call at all. OnStar is a better investment to protect your loved ones. Great Call is unfortunately making promises to seniors it can not deliver. Customer Service made a promise to call back at a specific time and I never heard from them. Now, Great Call wants to send a update that could brick the phone! Not while my mother is on the road. I am calling the BBB on this company. Just stay away from Great Call!
When we first got this device for my Mom it worked without any issues, lately I can't track her at all. I recently upgraded my phone and reinstalled all of my apps. The app has you signing in multiple times and will disconnect you once signed in. I normally don't complain but this is a good way for us to track her movements are out and about. I'd say since every time an app upgrades it stops it functioning.
Do NOT get a Lively Wearable for a loved 1 thinking that you will be able to monitor everything described with this app. It DOES NOT let you see any activities or anything. Per Great Calls customer service, a Lively Wearable will only notify you when the device is activated by the wearer. In order for this app to function as described, you have to get the big, square boxy device that's $20 a month higher. Unfortunately, we made our decision based on the deceptive wording for the wearable. We'll be shopping around for a replacement.
For the most part it works ok, but the gps is not very accurate. Sometimes it is right on, and other times it shows that she is anywhere from a couple hundred feet to 40 miles from where she actually is. Ever since my mother's splash got upgraded, it shows her, Out and About, all the time, even when she is at home. They can not, or will not fix the problem.
Splash pendant. Recently, it has not been registering accurately. It will say its on the charger when it is actually on the client. It has done this on several occasions. When it's working, it's nice to be able to check on a loved one whenever you want. I like that it sends weekly updates and lets you know if there was a call for help.
Used to work, mostly. Every week I had to reload the app my and power cycled my Dad's phone. So I emailed and they sent instructions to resync my Dad's phone. Worked for less than 1 day. It tells me my Dad is home when I just talked to him elsewhere.
The app simply doesn't work sometimes. Other times , at best, it is very slow to tell me my mom has gone out, or returned home. Latest issue - will not let me sign in, and keeps returning to the sign in page, then back to the ad. Even after reloading and setting a new password. Hardly worth the monthly fee, I can only hope the thing will work from her end.
This app worked great with my "Splash" device, but now that I've "upgraded" to the "Lively" I get constant error messages when I try to link. It says I'm out and about when I've been home all day. I've spent about 3 frustrating hours on several phone calls with Great Call Customer Service, and they only managed to make it worse. Finally, they actually told me that it was OK that the app says I'm "out and about" when I'm actually "home" because the location is correct at the call center........Is it really??? I've been a Great Call customer for 4 years, and had complete faith in them. Rapidly losing confidence in the service and the app.
About 75 percent of the time upon opening the app it tells me it "couldn't sync.". Sometimes worthless, but some times worthwhile. For an app that is about the security of a loved one I'd think they could do better.
For the most part it works, but I do not use it for tracking really. I agree it does throw sync errors out a lot. If I log out and sign back in, it seems to resolve. It does alert me when the phone is turned off or battery drained which is nice. For some reason though McAfee, which I run on my S7, just alerted me that the app has a threat potential. I left it installed for now.
When it works, it does a great job. Unfortunately, it rarely works. It's been a constant battle, ever since I bought the button for my Dad. I bought it so I'd have peace of mind because I don't live in the same town ad him. I've never been so frustrated in my life. I guess the old adage is right.....you get what you pay for. I'm ready to look for other options.
When the app works it's great but most of the time it's got the wrong information, the wrong address, there are sync errors a lot, it gets really annoying. But when it works it's a good app.
We purchased this for my mother-in-law several months ago. We got the plan that alerts all of us if she punches the help button. We didn't realize it would also act as a tracking device! We can tell where she is all the time even from a couple thousand miles away! We were afraid she'd feel like she was being stalked but it seems to amuse her. She pushed the button accidentally and she received an immediate response. We all feel a lot more secure.
Need to create a way to customize the notification tone and right now it does not work at all even after I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I still get the message that my dad was home about 2 days ago and it has no idea about the battery status of his device. With people out there creating great apps I would think it would be possible for a company of this size to hire someone that could get this corrected. Lives are on the line.
Have been very disappointed with this app. Have Uninstalled and reinstalled many times. Does not track or show location. Half the time doesn't show if the device is even on when I know that it is. Have called customer service twice with no resolution. Paying the higher price for the device to have this service and it doesn't work most of the time!
Always gets a sync error on lunch. Went an entire day with no location or status info when user was out and about the entire time. Reading through comments, these are just some of the long going and uncorrected. All GreatCall does is post the same response to report the issue via email. I think by now that they are well aware of the issues of what is supposed to be a safety device. Apologies and sorries get nowhere here. FIX THE ISSUES. WE ARE PAYING A PREMIUM PRICE FOR WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PREMIUM SERVICE. When these issues occur, I will be calling for a $20 bill credit for the month. PAYING $34.99 For $14.99 style SERVICE. John Walsh would be ashamed!
This app is good but does not update properly. Has my family member at 8 hrs ago. Not happy. That I can't pin point location at time of checking.
Newer isn't always better. The update is horrible doesn't work. What makes it horrible is that great call has no answers.
It worked great for a month or two, and has never worked again. Useless.
Just updated the app and it won't sync can't locate device and can't tell me the battery status. Device is on and in the same room. Fix the bugs in the app instead of adding new features.
Quite a problem lately. It asks me to sign in, then gives me a notice and goes back to sign in. I have reinstalled it, and it still just sends me the notice . Very frustrating as I can't see if my mother has her device with her. This notice screen has got to stop!!!
The location of my family is not indicated on a timely basis. Oftentimes it doesn't update until late in the day; therefore defeating the purpose of the service.
Helpful...the locate feature fails to locate 80% of the time. I surely hope the system they use for emergency tracking is better than the app.
Works intermittently. Notifications are spotty, but the useless weekly summary always seems to come out
Works terrific for my 97 yr old Mother .Keeps track of her locations, and has the Auto fall detection feature.
Works great! It's good to know that she's keeping it charged and wearing it. When she's out with a family member I can easily catch up with them because it shows where they are.
It doesn't update on a timely basis. Too slow to respond to movement
Had a problem one day and used the 5 star unit, they sent the ambulance to check on me.
My *Great Call Alert Device* is the BEST. They have always been there when I need them or when I call their 800 number. Thank you for the device
Worked fine first two weeks then just one day it won't display any info. Just says power and battery unknown.
I have to hit refresh because when I open it, it fails to link, but otherwise it works great.
Have had it for 2 years for a friend. Works well. Customer service is excellent
Really like being able to check where Cecil is when he has been gone longer than I think he should.

Not too impressed. We activated it and did a test call last week and the First two days it's fine, showing home and out and about. Now for Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday it's showing no activity and my mother in law has been out and about. It does show her out and about but does not show it below on daily activities. It does show the system is on and the battery is good or when it's being recharged. The app definitely needs some work.
