goTenna for Android
Hey guys, love the app, thanks for bringing such a cool gadget to the market. The main improvement I'd like to see are maps on SD.
Forced firmware update upon initializing and auto device screen sleep caused prompt failure which caused 4 attempts at updating firmware. Device is now basically a brick and can only send chats but only recieve by network relay. Not pingable. Has not recieved a single inbound message. Confirmed device communication hundreds of times. Cannot reapply firmware and support does not have resources to do any app or device diagnostics....basically they just ask you to use the app and hope it works.
After researching these for a while and reading reviews decided to give them a try. Primary use was for hikeing in Wasatch Mountain range and having communication off grid. These little antennas didn't disappoint, as long as you actually read and follow the instructions ( keep antenna high on loadout and not touching body) then have a good 3-4 mile reach ( longer around bodies of water) that with the ability to ping someone's location makes them perfect to attach to children @ events to keep an eye on them.
keep up the great work.
I'm outdoors on the weekends and so far it's the best way to communicate with people. I can't wait to show it off to others when im out and about. I enjoy the app, very easy to pair a device, download a cached map and understand the features. Even if you have a question it's easy to receive an email responce from the support team.
Easy to use app. Offline maps are a great addition. Found gotenna to be essential on multiple hiking trips
I actually knew about it on nat geo Innovation Nation :)
I have see those guys who invent this, on history tv 18
It is useful
Testing
good
Running on a mix of Samsun and Nexus devices. I have 4. Great for hiking with friends who like to wander off for a little private time. We all download the map or maps of the area before heading out. That way, even without cell coverage we can still pinpoint locations and have a map to help get us back together.
Getting 4.5 miles range but it still needs to be able to save the maps to sd card not phone
In the first 10 mins of playing with it after my wife and I got the firmware updated, it crashed 3 or 4 times on both of our phones (HTC & Samsung). Also though you can download the maps, you can't remove the maps as I found out. I moved the Gotenna app to my SD card (prior to any map downloads), but every time I downloaded a map, apparently it was somehow shrinking my 'local device storage', and now I have very little free space. I'd like to not have to uninstall the app to get that space back.
Needs to run in background when connecting. Seems to timeout and not reconnect until the app is reopened. Upon reopening I have a crashed app notification.
Bluetooth keeps crashing
This is going to be great when we go skiing.
Looks and works great, excellent in situations where there's no service, helps me stay connected!
Will not forget devices unless I uninstall the app. I'd love to see this work better. Will not pair with all phones. When it does work it's great though. Everyone should try it out.

Easy to pair the device and then works great when out of cell range, the network is congested or for times you would rather have a private channel
Won't Pair With Phone
Just waiting for my gotennas to arrive now!
Fixed Android M bugs
Works great. Good job team!
Guys i wanna join ur community can i?. I want to work with u guyz.....

The only fault I can find with this app is the amount of data that gets moved onto my SD card. All of the maps (that I've downloaded), some 600+MB are currently sat on my phone memory, and I'd like to be able to move at least half of it to the SD card. Would this be possible to implement? As I have many big apps this would be greatly appreciated.
Sometimes it plays sometimes it doesn't
We need more apps related with these concepts as like gotenna. Well done team.
I hope it will work
Superb
Good one

The range of these things in a suburban environment is about half a block; if you're close enough to yell then you're close enough to text using the device and app.
