Barcode Scanner

I tried several other scanners, but this is the best by far. Very simple interface: start, point, read. It decodes instantly, shows you the type of code, and the content. You can then decide what you want to do with it. It stores your scan in case you want to use it later. With QR codes, it displays both the content of the code and the url redirect if there is one. I've been using it for 5 years, on 2 different phones and several versions of Android. Still the best scanner I've seen. I have no idea why it doesn't have a higher rating.

Been using this for years! Free and no ads. Doesn't request a bunch of weird permissions like most other barcode scanners. The only problem I have with it is that you have to dig through the settings to turn the flash on. If there was a quick way to turn it on or off like in the camera app, this would be ideal.

This is the best barcode scanning app I've found. Additionally, it's free, ad-free, and open source. If you need a good barcode scanner, this is where you should start. Note: almost all of the bad reviews are because of permissions; the app description/FAQ explains why they're required, and the app is open source if you really want to verify it!

The app can only read barcodes when the phone is oriented at landscape mode. If the phone is in the portrait mode, the reading screen remains in landscape mode and I'm unable to read the code (when at the settings menu, the screen follows the phone's orientation, the problem is just when at the scanning mode). I already tried to change the "no automatic rotation" option, but the problem persists. Had the same issue with Moto X 2nd gen (now with Galaxy S7E).

When it works it's great! Works fine on my phone, with lighted camera. Does nothing on Galaxy Tab 3, tho cameras are otherwise the same. Found a few alternate apps that do not require this specific barcode scanner, so no longer necessary.

Refused to scan both the Ikea barcodes I had lying around, crystal clear black on white. Tried to use in conjunction with excellent My Groceries app, but failed to recognise any of the Lidl product bar codes in my kitchen, so no use at all I'm afraid. It also struggles to focus (that was not the problem with the aforementioned), preferring the carpet over the barcode; maybe that's my phone's fault? Seems no way to set portrait mode, so it's awkward to use.

Can i ask something about this app. It's because when i downloaded it, it said it was free but is it really free just asking and if isn't well i am sorry because i don't know how to pay you back. Cause when i looked and scanned my cellphone using the 360 Security i saw a "PAYMENT PROTECTION" for this app. Pls reply. And Explain it to me. Thank You.

If I create a QR code for the following: "file:///sdcard/download/xx.jpg" and scan it, the app says it's the wrong format. It can open PDF's, but not JPG's. If I type "file:/// etc." in Chrome, it works. I would like to be able to do this for certain reasons. Also, if ai try to generate a QR code using this app, the "bookmarks" option is disabled. I assume I have to change a setting somewhere. It worked fine on my old phone.

It worked for a while but when a problem developed the ONLY response I got was "No, works fine for me. Make sure you didn't turn it off." Obviously I didn't turn it off! Call that support? I certainly don't!!! And your reply just proves my point, like your support pathetic!

I really found this app useful for a few years now but recently I noticed that there is a bug that causes the WiFi on my phone not to shut down properly when I switch it off. It keeps turning on and shutting off repeatedly which causes a drain on the battery. I uninstall it on both the Galaxy S5 and S7 and the problem stop on both phones.

One thing I am missing is the interface with the portrait orientation. On my Samsung S7 and on Note 2 before it always takes the landscape orientation, independent of the phone and app settings.

Unfortunately, this app has become frustratingly difficult to use. It randomly defaults to either portrait or landscape mode (regardless of settings) and whilst in portrait mode will not scan 1D barcodes. This is a pity as I used to like this app. I will keep watch for updates and bug fixes. I have given two stars (not one) in case these problems are device, OS version, root status dependent. HTC One M9; marshmallow/sense 7.0; rooted.

Great app BUT should have a choice of view that's why only 1 star. Unfortunately I'm forced to use this because it's ties to neatoscan app which I subscribe to. A big shame that in this day and age there no standard scan view :( sort it out devs

MY HELP FOR YOU!! If this app will not work or you try this: 1. Clean the camera, 2. Try in landscape mode, 3. Make sure the camera can focus, 4. Make sure you are holding camera still. If that doesn't work I don't know what it's doing. It should work and if it isn't going to work dislike the app. Please like and reply to my review of help.

Download QR scanner instead which does work. See my review. It took me a long time trying to focus and this poor app would not focus at all.

I've had this app for a while and it's never worked. It won't scan bar codes because the image is so blurry. I've kept it because I was hoping to figure out a way to clear the image up. Never could. I had one before that worked flawlessly but I couldn't find it. I'm going back to looking for it.

It does an OK job with regular bar codes. But will not scan anything else. Tired messing with settings, nothing has worked.

Is there any way possible to use this scanner out of landscape mode. I use scan series at work and this is the only app that can be used in conjunction with it and it kills us just being stuck in landscape mode.Developers if you could PLEASE fix this the whole scan series community would love you for it. I use this to spot fake ID's at my job when you scan the QR code on the back of the ID it should show all the info on the ID like name, DOB, address and description. But fake ID maker just put the same one on all of them if you swipe the care I reads over 21 but that's it the QR code has all the info.

Great app. Cant use it tho on the new device, since back camera is too blury on short distances. It just cant focus with no app at very close range. Front one is perfect for that tho, would be awesome if support was added for switching cameras.

The app is put together simply and cleanly, but the scanner doesn't work. I tried this on multiple days on every barcode in the house, but it just holds a red line over them and does nothing. Extra annoying because this is the only app that works with my alarm

… but there's room for improvement. What I'd love to see is the recognition of even more mime types (e.g. the Google Authenticator protocol isn't recognised). Also reading QR-codes from a bitmap would be a great addition because sometimes people share those with you and obviously you cannot scan them using the camera when the screen is part of the same device :-) Thanks!

There was unredeemed Jio code on my mobile.after installing this app that Jio code get redeemed automatically. This cheating with innocent customer.i want my code back otherwise I will be helpless to take help of law and will sue on you.

Used to work. Drat. Yeah, have used it since the original Android G1 I owned when Android first came out.

Always has the wrong orientation, and the share options could be better.. to share with hangouts I have to "share by email" ?! I'd like the option to just copy the URL to clipboard as well

Does what it should do. No frakin ads or excess permissions or annoying data collection schemes. Simple! This is how all utility apps should be

It was among the first Barcode scanners sadly the landscape mode scanning is just not viable. Although it's lightning fast tilting the phone to use it properly is a pain in the bum.

Haven't been able to scan a single item. Forces landscape mode, seems to have trouble focusing. Using HTC A9, Marshmallow, if that's relevant.

Well it just doesn't want to auto focus, it can't read what it can't see. I tried settings but nothing? All blurred?

My issues with this app are that sometimes it takes a long time to get it to read a barcode, and it does not tell you the permission upfront, forces you to approve a contacts permission, and then won't let you to revoke the contacts permission. Why the fork does a barcode scanner need access to my contacts???

Even though this app has low ratings I've come to realize after trying several different types of barcode scanner apps this is by far my favorite because you can just scan it and it will pull up all the information you can find on it and Google so I love it you have to be the judge yourself though

When my Nexus 6P updated to Android 7.0, this app no longer scanned barcodes. Emailed the tech support listed here who replied they are no longer working on the app. This scanner is tied into Mighty Grocery, which can't seem to change to a working barcode program.

I installed this app after trying other barcode scaners (ScanLife BC) , while the other ones really suck it up, this one was working easy and in a short while. It scanned couple of items on OfficeMax and told me where was cheaper. It's really good, works wonderfully. 6 years using it and still going strong

Works great, but always in landscape mode, which is annoying. There is a setting "No automatic rotation" which has no effect. Please fix that and I will raise the ratting to 5 stars.

Great app except that it causes my phone unable to use Home key to view/switch between running applications. I'm using galaxy note 3. Anyone know how to fix this??

Works well and a good, reliable app, but however. Need to hold my phone very still to work. Also need to have barcode item on a surface. Can't hold both to scan. Only scans in landscape mode. To fix these issues, I'd be prepared to pay £2 for a pro mode. A material design would be good too. Looks very android 4.0
