Daydream for Android
Most of the complaints seem to be coming from people who didn't pay attention to the tut or have terrible phone sensors. Works great with the note 8.
One out of 4 times I used it it worked, what a mess, locks up phone looses movement and gives me nasuea, screen goes black locks up etc.
Since the latest update when trying to install apps in daydream, after clicking the free or price button on the app, it goes to a black screen and hangs. Usually have to hit the home button and then go to the app again and try again. Has happened several times, very annoying.
I REALLY want to love it, but it has a MAJOR issue with the control not working after being paired.
Google needs to fix the drifting issue.
Works about as well as Windows 95.
Needs more apps. Phones overheats quickly too. Definitely very cool though.
Works great! Could use a new controller.
Amazing. Google Daydream is completely different animal than the Google cardboard. It's like the difference between an abacus and a calculator. With the daydream VR headset and controller, this app turns your phone into an entertainment system, gaming console, and more while constantly utilizing a 3d VR experience. The Limit of this app is the creativity of app Developers. I would love to use this as my computer monitor or just be able to use Google docs and Chrome through this. I would like to be able to open documents and browser windows all the way around me and stretch them to different size. Please some one make this app. It would be the best office tool out there.
Problem: Controller drift - makes daydream VR frustrating to use. It drifts 45 degrees in a minute or two, that's insane. I have 2 headsets and controllers at my disposal and both have the exact same problem, so it has to be a software issue. Until it is fixed VR on the daydream is worthless. Who wants to recenter the screen legitimately every single minute?
Great platform. But there's a few bugs/issues: - Casting constantly disconnects. Even when I'm right next to TV I'm casting to. - Not all of VR apps that I have show up in DayDream. - When using Daydream to install new VR apps. I've noticed that apps will just get stuck trying to install. Forcing me to install those apps outside of Daydream.
Good, fun to use. I like the simple controls that aren't difficult to adjust to. What I don't like is how it sometimes drifts to the left when I'm watching Netflix or something. It took a couple days for the controller to unfreeze on my app, even after reinstalling and pairing and restarting my phone. Once I got it working though it's great
Unable to select any menu item after starting and pairing Google daydream VR viewer. I was able to recenter, point, and highlight menus, but unable to get select button to work on any menus or settings. Using LGV30+ and promotional Daydream View.
What a complete joke! Received as promotional gift for purchasing the LG V30 and this is essentially unusable in any way for me. Controller seems to pair fine, but absolutely will not move the cursor on the main menu when first going into VR mode, nor do any button clicks result in any response. At one point I was able to complete the initial tutorial, where the controller appears to've functioned relatively well, but aftwrwards - NADA! How disappointing :( 0 stars if I could for being a complete waste of my time!
The headset is really cool and I want to explore with it more but the issue with the pointer alignment makes it really annoying. I know how to "reset" it when it strays too far, but even that never completely makes it work, its still a little off and I have to do some fancy moves to click on things.
Will not let me sign in! App is completely nonresponsive. Please fix, this is a huge bummer and should be unacceptable to Google. Their own VR app doesn't work at all
The app works well, when it actually launches. I find that when pressing the button to start the actual VR interface, the app simply won't respond. I've tried force closing it, clearing the cache, everything. The only thing that works is restarting my phone.
I don't know how the app is because it won't let me get past the first screen. After spending some time chatting online with Google support and after uninstalling, then reinstalling the app several times, and then having to remove my google account from my device, then adding it back to my device, a helpful gentleman by the name of Thomas informed me that the daydream vr is only compatible with certain devices, and that my lg v30 is not one of them. He even went the extra mile and sent me a link to the daydream website that listed the compatible devices for the headset. Once I informed him that I received the daydream headset with my lg v30, and that the lg v30 is also listed as a compatible device on the website through the link he sent me, he then tells me he must do some further cross checking. Shortly after that he informs me that he works for a different company and refers me via email to app support. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!
The new cast feature does work, but it cuts all sound from gaming apps, which disallows a lot of use of VR or showing it off to others in Chromecast. It also heated the phone up in about 1/3 the time it usually takes to do so, resulting in distortion. Last, couldn't show Wands on Chromecast beyond the lobby. Seems like casting over exhausts the system and leads to a blank black screen when the app runs fine otherwise.
Lasts 2 mins or so before crashing on Galaxy s8. Phone runs insanely hot
I have a Note 8, Australian version with an Exynos CPU and I am finding Daydream to be very unstable. It is causing the phone to randomly reboot during use of the headset..
I'm glad I didn't buy a daydream headset before trying to use this to set it up. I try to hit login and it won't let me. I wanted to play Rez, but guess I'll be giving it a miss
Good idea, but way too unreliable. It often loses connection to the controller and usually it happens with weird artifacts like your head becomes the pointer for the controller or the whole screen suddenly becomes very bright.
Unusable on the LG V30, so much for supported devices. Great promotion LG give away a product that doesn't work properly. Google support was no help either.
Completely unresponsive at the sign in screen. Won't respond to touch but the background moves with the phone. Utter disappointment I can't believe this hasn't been addressed yet.
Works fast and looks great, but after 20 min in the daydream view I'm afraid my Google pixel is going to burn alive. Wish it had some ventilation or the app wasn't so labor intensive.
Didn't allow me to login to even begin using it. Rebooted my phone didn't work, uninstalled it rebooted again and then reinstalled and same problem. I get to the login screen and it moves the background but fails completely otherwise.
It isn't working at all. As if the touchscreen would stop working inside the app, therefore I can't even start the VR. Also, in the case that it works, the screen tends to shift rightwards, so I have to calibrate the view constantly.
Current version won't install on Pixel 1 XL crashes installing components or gets stuck retrieving account info. Also causing sig 11 crashes in libpano_video_render.so in other VR apps that we're working ok prior, please fix asap.
I got it for the VR but also to watch movies, but Play Movies just tells me that there was an error, if it persists, restart your device. Restarting does not help.
Drifting is awful, it used to be fine but it's so bad you have to re-centre every few seconds. Please fix!
Finally just uninstalled it... it's too frustrating. Controller pairing is highly unreliable, you stand there smashing the home button over and over again on the controller without anything happening. You still often have to take out the phone from the headset because some dialog pops up or some app needs permissions. Good gaming titles are slow to appear. Full surround video is getting better in terms of quality, but the content is awful; most of it seems to be of the form of "let's drop you in the middle of your favorite artists" or "lets drop you in the middle of some third world hellhole"; neither is particularly appealing.
Amazing apps and works great. Using a Pixel 2 XL in original Daydream View, still fits. The Street View is insane!
Received my daydream on Saturday and set it all up and waiting for the email to download the content that came free with it. Overall I love it. I'm in a wheelchair and playing is super easy and fun.
After opening app to press "Continue" to login with your Google account, I can't press anything. The background moves but I can't select any of the Google account options or the blue links on the bottom. LG v30
Google Play movies & t.v. never works for any of my content even after restarting and or turning off my device. It just says error... other than that everything else works on the daydream 2017.
It forces me to add a credit card. Cannot go past the setup without it, even if I don't plan to buy anything. Uninstalling until there's a way to try the app without being forced to provide my credit card.
This app crashed very frequently on Note 8. Every since I bought this VR and Note 8, could not use it for a minute. Google! Please provide a solution to it asap.
Maybe I need to get the updated headset but going from the Pixel 1 to 2 there are a lot of bugs. Shaky view, scrolling input is bad, and the controller was a pain to pair. Also not nice to see the backyard scene gone from Play Movies VR app. Now it's just a screen floating in space, not impressive.

Works pretty well! But there isn't a lot of interesting apps to use and it's not nearly as immersive as a Vive, but there are some decent free applications but the best seem to be locked up under a pay wall that's pretty steep for what some are.
