Android Auto for Android
Touch limits need to be upped, and it needs to be REMOVED while in park!!! There is only so much you can do with voice commands alone. The touch limit actually drives people to pick up their phone to do functions that are only partially implemented in Android Auto itself. (Tunein is COMPLETELY useless with this touch limit). By enforcing such a low touch limit it actually causes more phone use than it prevents.
Why does the app turn on Do Not Disturb mode and force blocking of all messages. Seems to defeat the purpose.
Fantastic in my new Suzuki Ignis! But can we not get the same voice assistant as the Google assistant rather than the Google now voice. She is very annoying especially when requesting music from an app. "Sure" or "okay" are the optimal responses when I ask for her to play Mumford and sons. Rather than the clunky effort of her trying to say "asking play music to play Mumford and sons"... Which is time-consuming and ruins the android auto experience to be frank. In addition, I'm sure most people would agree with me.. But the whole point of subscribing to Google music is so we get access to new music... It's great when using the app on your phone with me albums and cool playlists available to listen to. But as soon as android auto boots up there are ZERO options for finding these new albums or daily recommended playlists which are so awesome and would be perfect for the drive home... Instead we only get Driving playlists which have next to zero use to me as the music is no longer personalised like it is in the music app. Bring that selection to AA and I'll change my rating. Even if the daily recommendations are only there with the handbrake on that would still be better than what is currently offered which doesn't help us find cool new music whilst on the long drive home..
Since the update it won't connect to my car. It also doesn't work with a lot of third party messaging apps, it will read the message but can't reply.
I have a Honda Civic 2016 and a Galaxy S8+ with Verizon and I can't connect to Android auto at all. It says usb error I tried three different ones and it says the same I connect a pixel and it works fine so it has to do with the S8 I'm assuming. I reinstall the app multiple times. Unpair the car to my app and still nothing.
Google Music crashes after latest updates. Phone restarting needed frequently. Please allow Google books to read aloud while driving.
With newest update Google play music is still broken. I have to disable Bluetooth when connecting Android Auto.
App will not open. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times it only gets half way through setup and app closes and will not reopen
Needs better messaging support. Why can't you view a list of SMS to be read aloud, but you can view a list of music?
Glitch filled now! Since the update it's garbage. It won't connect all of the time.
It's missing one critical ability- browse through a playlist to find a specific song, and not have to click through one track at a time.
This app needs some work.. Is always in night time when connected with the car..frustrating
Great app now that I replaced the cord. Evidently a high quality cord is the way to go.
Great idea. Until Waze is integrated though, it's useless.
Still need to improve on voice commands and integration with music apps
Have it hooked up to my stereo via USB drains battery within 1 hr of a drive. And Soundcloud should be added for music app
Easy to use. Great integration with phone and google map
The navigation is pretty bad, I hope next update fixes this.
This app is trash and is very likely to kill somebody one day, it's way too distracting to use while driving. Unstalling... I can do way more with my magnetic phone holder, bluetooth audio and "ok google" feature on my phone. Why restrict myself and put my life at risk trying to use this thing just so that I can say "I'm using Android Auto?"
This is really helpful if you are driving car that has android auto installed. You can control your map, music, phone calls without touching actual phone. Voice command is very reliable. Most of time, it understand very clearly what i am saying. Map is very easy to control. Music is easy to access and you an play music wuth your voice command too! *NEW* i had google play problem with android auto. It kept saying that google play doesnt seem to be working.. so i fixed it by clear all data (including cache) on android auto and google play music. I think it works with no problem. If you have same problem with google play mysic, please try clearing your data on apps under the setting.
Good app, but after updating to android 7 on phone, s6 edge plus, when using maps I have a message that says searching for gps. This only happens if power saving mode is turned on under battery settings. If that is turned off and I use maps with android auto in my car, maps has a gps signal. This worked fine in the same car and phone before the android 7 update. A fix would be great.
The app is ok, but it still has quite a few bugs, like navigation doesn't always start unless you're inside maps itself. It can read messages now, which is very useful. When replying or starting a message, even though my phone is configured to voice-type in multiple languages, this app only understands English. I'm not talking about commands, just typing
Very simple and elegant. Almost everything I need. Maybe you can add a page for widgets, shortcuts and other apps with large icons (like for other navigators or audio players). Maybe add weather conditions also in the space between the menu and mic, or as a card. UPDATE: On the home screen, there needs to be an autodial number FOR THE DESTINATION THAT I AM NAVIGATING TO!!! Simple!!! The worst thing is that I am heading somewhere and I need to let them know that I am stuck in the a typical Montreal traffic jam and that I'm going to be late;). The app does not let you get the information easily and I have to exit it to call up the number on Google Maps. Are you listening Google?
In general it's very good and offers a lot of flexibility. Couple of minor issues, such as after receiving a call the screen stays on the phone screen rather than going back to map. Also Maps does not remember route preferences such as "Avoid Motorways" so have to go in every time, which defeats the point of voice commands as you still need to go into route options to turn it back on.
Still has a long way to go. The UI is mild infuriating sometimes. I get the attempt to reduce people being distracted while driving, but there has to be a better way. I find myself being MORE DISTRACTED because of the overly complicated song selection. I would spend much less time distracted if I could quickly and accurately select a song. I have experienced plenty of freeze ups as well, with a Nexus 6P and 2017 Chevy Volt. Certainly shows a ton of promise, but still needs lots of work. Really wish they would allow non-google apps in the media section. Apple music would be killer. Also, Google, please keep in mind that the driver is not always the one controlling the screen. It is extremely annoying that my passenger is so limited in what they can actually do with such a powerful device and interface. Please keep working and make the product better!
Need the answer/hangup call screen accessibility to be fixed with Huawei phones. When you make a call there is no way to hang up without reaching for the handset. When receiving calls there is no way to answer the call with out reaching for the handset. Ring, voice and sound works over the system.
Lots of things to love but some annoyances too. Top of the list is that Google Music is often unavailable. Only fix is to reboot the phone. Second minor annoyance is lack of Outside Temperature on main screen.
Google play music is very inconsistent. I've had it skip forward to a different track for seemingly no reason, and half the time when I launch AA and go to music, it simply says "Google Play music isn't working right now" and the only way to get past the error is to fully restart the phone. Funny enough Amazon Music has never given me a single issue. Also needs an option to lock screen orientation, as when it's in a car mount, if the road is bumpy, it will constantly try and switch between landscape and portrait. A simple toggle that would lock your screen orientation to what it is when you first launch the app would fix this.
Needs SoundCloud to be allowed. Also used it for the first time yesterday and when I made or got calls, it routed them through my S7 speaker instead of through my car. 2016 F150. But love the Google maps
I'm going to start my review with one request, WAZE. Works well on LG G6 in '16 VW Passat SE. However, completely disabling the phone at all times is not nice. Have the app sense when I am parked and let me browse or answer email. Access to my Google play music library would be great. Often when I ask for a band it gives me a radio station rather than my songs. More apps. WAZE, WAZE, WAZE.
Good app overall, it needs some bug fixes here and there. One major problem I have is when my galaxy s7 edge locks. I lose my signal on my GPS. So I constantly need to unlock my phone while I'm driving
Works great so far. I'd still prefer Waze option for the map, but Google maps and directions are very good. Ford Sync integration could be better.
I first started using it with my Sony Xperia X Performance, which was a phone I desperately sought out to get for many reasons apart from my loyalty to Sony. However, it failed to run Android Auto efficiently. Bought the Google Pixel 128GB, and run all my music off the phone and the USB-C handles the performance demands of Android Auto. Advice for this app, buy the Pixel... And a 2017 GTI. LIFE WILL BE GOOD. ***One thing though, it needs personalized addresses from your contact information add to be recognized by voice.***
Update//after 6 month don't work yet\Don't work with BlackBerry DTEK60 (full android 6.0.1) on Honda Accord 2016. The app work on the phone but is not been displayed on the car.
Great for the most part. Every now and then it just freezes, can't tell if it's my pioneer head unit or the app that is causing the issues.
Text messaging no longer works. Cannot use my voice to send text messages after one of the latest updates. Used to work great. No notifications of incoming messages any more either.
New update didn't fix this: The screen is always in daytime mode/white, even when it's pitch black outside. It's happening in the app on the phone and on the car's screen. My car's light sensor is working. The map screen is blinding when everything else is dark, even when the car's brightness level is at minimum, so it's dangerous to use. I even unlocked developer mode and forced the app into night mode, but it still didn't work.
Excellent! Makes phone usable for driver through touch UI. Navigation between maps, music, and phone/text practical. Supports multiple music apps (I use play music and pocketcasts), but controls could have more options. I'm looking forward to Waze and other maps options.
This app is great! Makes driving much safer. Needs to have some options such as not reading out which account your message will be sent from everytime.

Doesn't work with it's own Google app: Waze. What a shame. It works with plenty of music players from my experience, haven't tried SoundCloud.
