Google Now Launcher for Android
I like the way folders look and OK google works better here than Samsung's TouchWiz which sucks now. But really, not even an option to show missed calls, or new texts?I have to pull down and check the notifications panel every time.I grab the phone.....Google you should know better. Please fix.
This launcher was great for awhile. An excellent alternative to LG or Samsung launchers. Now sometimes my apps on the homsecreens disappear. They don't uninstall, but just leave my homepage. This can get very tiresome as you can imagine. I would not recommend installing this, for these issues. Maybe they will fix the bugs soon, then I would recommend it
I feel as if you're trying to make Android more like Apple with this launcher. I liked the ability to have pages to the left, but that is now gone. Also you jacked up the app drawer bringing back to not so nice Android gingerbread by having it as a vertical scrolled. Also widgets were better located in the app drawer on a separate page. This launcher is also not so customizable. I understand that there's other launcher, but you should have customization options.
One suggestion though. I would like to have more apps in my "favorites tray" as i use Facebook and messenger a lot so allowing me to drag 2 more apps at least into my favorite drawer would be appreciated. I came here from g ui lgs skin and the icons on this launcher are a little bit so also adding a size readjustment would be great as well.
Even though this launcher is very smooth. It still has many features missing. Add hidden folder option. And some more launcher widgets. And as said in many reviews, add customization.!!! Pls. And give regular updates. All the best!
Finally Google publish the best Android launcher. Very useful as expected . Simple and powerful. Do things with fewer manual interaction. May be more important in feature. Speech synthesis is the best I have ever used. Now good develop application with Google now voice support to make life easier.like a lot.....,
On my Samsung Galaxy S6, which recently updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, setting Google Now Launcher as the default launcher and then going into Ultra Power Saving mode will cause most of your icons to disappear from your homepages. It probably has to do with the prompt to choose which launcher to use every time you enter Ultra Power Saving mode, in which TouchWiz should always be the default. This is hands down my favorite launcher, but I rely a lot on Ultra Power Saving, and this ruins my experience!
I would make it 5 stars if Google added an option to change what the app drawer looked like (scrolling vs pages) and if they added different icon grids such as 4x5, 4x4, and 5x5. Overall, this is a great launcher and I would download it to any android device. It has a great interface which I believe looks better than TouchWiz home. Great job Google but add these design options.
Hello, I recently began using this Launcher on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. It works as good as any Launcher I've ever used. I love it but there is one issue. The app drawer shows all of my apps, even bloatware that I don't use. Ex, I also got Google Messenger with the Launcher, but now I have my stock Messages in the app drawer. This is the same with many other apps. So I would be very grateful if you would add a "Hide Apps" feature to keep useless apps out of the way. Thank you.
It's a good launcher. Fast and speedy and love the simplicity of stock Android BUT i wish it had more. For one I would love a black theme version especially at night where the drawer is very bright and annoying with its white background, overall a whole system black theme would be great*. Secondly wished we could customize the app icons which other launchers have especially with awesome icons found on the store. A whole system theme engine would be excellent. Come now Google
Well it could be much better if only there is an option to change colors of typing background, but not only white. Same thing with apps listing background. Sometimes it hurts my eyes just to look at it... Another thing, why can't I remove that Google say ok (with microphone) option in upper screen of my mobile? If I want that I will put it there myself. Usually, on my phone and on that same place there is clock and date. Is it a problem for you to make that happen? Left screen swipe to Google is fantastic..
Suggestions. Add gestures such as pull/swipe down quick search (from persistent search bar, prevents having to reach across screens on big phones. Bring back the swipe up from home gesture for Google now but keep the home button long press for Google now on tap. Also add option for changing the grid layout from 5x5 to 5x4 etc.. Just to start.
I'd love to give this lots of stars, BUT there is no simple way to close Google Now. I don't want to disable it, I simply want to close the results screen automatically. For example, with Amazon Echo, I can simply say, "Stop" or "Close" or even "Be quiet" and it stops. I want to be able to ask a question or issue a command than THEN have it return to the home screen. I've searched every way I can think of both on the web in general and specifically on the Google site, but cannot find a way to simply exit the current session..
I turned on max power saving mode on my Galaxy S7, and since I turned that mode off I've lost all my home screen setup. This will take me hours to figure out and redo my 5 home screen of icons and widgets. After some quick searching online it seems this proem has been experienced by others for years with this launcher. Now searching for a replacement that can backup it's settings.
This is a great launcher that brings speed and a total comfortable experience of native Android.. The fact that you can rotate the home and apps box is pretty cool. But there is a bug that when you have the home in portrait, the status bar and buttons bar, are part of the wallpaper and are transparent. But when you have the home screen on landscape, the buttons bar is completely black and it isn't part of the wallpaper neither transparent.
Dear Google, I am quite content having the google search bar on my google now launcher screen and/or homescreen, and wish you'd allow it to be removed from my every other screen so that I can reclaim that real estate to make a more attractive screen and better user experience. Especially now, considering that google voice search is enabled for all my screens, and I have google on tap capacity on my home button. Sincerely, Peter Bergonzi
The creation of folders when two or more apps are dropped onto the same position on the home screen is very good. This means that on one screen i can have (for example) a folder for social media (Facebook, twitter, etc), another folder for cloud (dropbox, onedrive etc) and so on. Very good in my view. My only reservation being that the google search bar is forced on you whether you want it or not. All in all I think it's an effective launcher that follows the golden rule of KISS.
Use Apex launcher+ Moonshine icon pack. The size of icons ll reduce.. & launcher ll look same & more beautiful.. I think google intentionally gives big icons on nexus 5 (other small screen phones) to make users realise tht they're using small/ old phones.. & make them buy/upgrade to latest/ bigger phones. Eg. Nexus 5 is smaller than Nexus 5x, 6 & 6x..
I've tried maaany many launchers... There was always something missing beyond the full customization option in other launchers that highlights appearance out shinning Google yet i find myself sticking to the Google Now launcher... maybe because of its functionality that works well with Google's other apps or maybe its the history we have together that I've grown accustomed to. Whatever it is I'm giving up looking for a better launcher. Also, Jesus Chris✝️ loves you all!!
Don`t really understand why soooo much user`s are slating this launcher because their unhappy about lack off;"not been able to delete search bar","size of icons",lack of settings etc etc. People are even stating that their going to "root the phone" just to change launcher well folks, guess what, you can very easily change your launcher if your not happy AND,you don`t even have to root your device! Me,I`m cool with this, meets all my needs & some, for now it`s a solid 4.5 stars,if my experiences change,be sure to know I`ll update accordingly. PS.Yes I have tried other launchers too by the way.
Just bought a new phone, finally moving away from Samsung. Found I was getting upgrade to 6.0.1 and still the Google search bar is locked to every single home screen. IT'S MY PHONE so I wanna be able to move things that I don't have a use for or that look a disgrace blocking my personal photo I use for wallpaper. Come on Google. You're getting like Apple these days forcing settings onto us! Possibly the main reason I haven't entertained Apple at all. However, may as well consider them again!
This launcher is possibly the best for Android phones as it is lightweight, compared to other launchers and seamless integration with Google Now is a good thing by swiping as other launchers are lacking this feature. However, the only reason I'm not using this launcher is because it lacks notification badge, which is a vital feature. Would definitely switch back if Google could include this feature!
The only thing that I like from this launcher is the search Google because it will show up directly from the screen without open another window. But the design is still far from what consumers want big icon, poor animation, bad management application. Why don't you guys try to focus in the design too? If you can build the good famous software then for the easy part such as design is still far behind.
Simple clean. This is not ment to be a personalisation launcher dont download if that is what your after. It is, however a fantastically clean and userfrienly interface for your phone that will make yourlife a tiny bit easier. Better than all the skins the big phone comanys push on you - it's by google: they know how android is meant to be used!
It's a nice and simple launcher... White background makes it easy to use out doors... I have it by default in my moto g3 . It's working fine and its very smooth, it doesn't have any customization options, in fact u cannot customize any thing here, good for old persons and for them who want a hassle free interface
I come to you one more time in hopes for an update for gestures. When this app gets gestures for the notification bar, it's basically game over for other launchers. Considering those with cases have trouble pulling down the notification bar, it would be amazing if this app had it. I love this launcher, and I actually have a different launcher, because of gestures. Yet, I miss the simplicity and handiness of the Google Now Launcher. It's a lose-lose right now :(
Simple, clean and smooth which is exactly what I wanted. Works well on my S7E and I actually prefer it to Go, Nova launchers although they're highly customisable. Just one thing though wish there was a way of removing/disabling the Google search bar and app drawer icon. Please allow that option in the next update. Other than that it's almost perfect!!
if there was a way to import the settings and home screen setup from other launchers ( like what NOVA, and APEX do ) it would be much more usable and helpful. it' OK if you have a fresh phone but if you have been using your phone for a while you have the home screen set the way you like it, you should be able to at least import the setup to the new launcher making the transition much more easier. I'll happily give Google Now Launcher a try when they implement a import settings and home screen function. Until then I'll give it a miss.
The icons are a bit large for my taste. Being able to switch it to make them smaller would be great. On my phone (S7 edge) using this disables the edge notifications that I get by using Samsungs default. Also apps don't show the notification bubbles which I prefer. I like the layout though and the quick access to now cards. If these other things still worked as well it'd be a better review.
I love the launcher and it used to work perfectly on cyanogenmod, but on my new Xiaomi phone running the f***ing MiUI, the apps menu supposed to contain all the apps does not work, it only shows some recently installed apps. Any plans to fix it? Can I help providing some data?
I really love the app and the simplicity of it with its powerful features and in most cases ultra smooth working. But I see that there is a One thing missing - an ability to hide apps in the main apps menu - I see it really annoying beacuse I have a Samsung Android Phone and I want to use Google Apps instead of the pre-installed Samsung ones (for ex. Google Calculator instead of Samsung one) but when I look at my Apps Menu I see 2 calculator apps next to each other and I find it quite annoying. If it'll be
Best Android launcher I have ever used. I use this launcher on all of my devices because it looks nice, is easy to use, still has the app drawer icon, and I like the look of the Google search bar instead of the slide to search option and constant date showing up in the corner. If I want to see the date all I have to do is pull down the notification bar.
I recently bought an AndroidOne device, and GNL came standard. It is a fine launcher, not very different from a Nexus experience. However, two relatively small UI issues bother me. The first is the bright white search bar at the top of the screen. That really annoys me. Why not make it transparent like on Nexus devices running 5.1.1? The second issue is the lack of an option to enable the "pull up" gesture to access Google Now.
Im using oppo r819 with a color os. It alwas goes back using the default launcher. No way to let me choose which launcher to use. This app should be able to let me choose instead of redirecting ne to the settings which i cant do anything about it. Presses reset defaults but nothing happened. When i press home it goes back using the default launcher
I love the layout, ease of use, everything. But I just had a forced Android update and now Google launcher lost all the buttons at the bottom of the screen, except Internet and the all apps button. Hope it is fixed soon, don't t really like the Android view and feel. Samsung Galaxy S7.
So good, so great and smooth! Just wish, it had little more updated looking icons, especially the phone dialer/contact icon, more wallpapers to choose from, and a always on/off option small weather display, below notification bar, like that you can swipe screen to view news, weather and sports and I like the touch Google Voice search at top of the screen! Still, among one of the best launchers out!!!
I absolutely love it however i think there should be a much more convenient way to add apps to the homescreen, my default launcher on my HTC One M8 has a very convenient way to add apps to the homescreen its right by the widgets. And for some reason the "voice access anywhere" thing won't work on niether of my 3phones niether does it work on my friends phone, and i would really like to use tht option, it only works when im on the homescreen.but other thn tht i love the app. Thank you so much.
While TouchWiz for Samsung devices has really improved quite a bit, I was still craving a vanilla Android Experience. The Google Now launcher has allowed me to do so. It took me a very long time to find a launcher that is free, fluent/responsive and beautiful. I would recommend this launcher to anyone. P.S I am on a Galaxy S7 (Such a gorgeous phone ❤)
I might use this launcher if you allowed us to disable the search bar suggestions that are gray and appear next to the microphone like "OK, Google. Define Love or Show me Kitten Videos". I don't want to see that garbage on my homescreen... Instead I use a different launcher and simply delete the entire search bar. The icons are also gigantic like they're designed for a geriatric person that can't see very well.

The Google Now Launcher gives that stock Android feel to any Android device which is smooth and great especially with the integration with Google Now but It isn't the best. The app drawer can't be sorted in any other way (only alphabetical) and please update with a dark mode that you get in Android Marshmallow otherwise it's a great launcher. No problems.
