Wish you could delete all languages apart from English

This app works great, but I'm happy they're finally integrated Japanese into Gboard

The app worked brilliantly on my Sony phone by appearing as an icon at the bottom left of the keyboard I could click on to toggle it. With galaxy however it requires to become your primary keyboard to even be used at all which means if you usually speak in English you're left using old fashioned text symbols to type in English instead of a handy shortcut at the bottom of your standard English keyboard that flicks between the two. Not sure if it's galaxy or an app update but this sucks. I don't want to have it as my primary keyboard just to use it and I certainly don't want to have to go into my settings and change it to my default every time I want to use it.

Two things, five stars then: 1: Swiping. Google's Chinese keyboard can do it! 2: In the number pad was an intelligent suggestion of which kanji should follow, like time or date or something you can count. Since your last update, it's gone. One more thing: In the Gboard, languages like DE or EN are combined in one keyboard. JP there would be so cool. I could live with a single switch latin<>conversion.

It almost seems like that Google even forgot they've ever made this app. It needs a major maintance in performances and features update. Whenever in the Godan mode, it writes corresponding number and the English mode... And I'd rather NOT start about that. Despite being the best Japanese keyboard available out there... It really needs to be updated urgently. Not to mention the very much useless English suggestion mode and no English autocorrection option present. It needs features update and PLEASE, PLEASE, fix that trashy english input mode

Horrible, this is not a real good japanese Keyboard. If you try translating it, it'll leads to a wrong word or something that you'll want to tell someone. If you wanna learn Japanese, then just go to Japan and learn there. Besides, theres no Kanji smh

I love this application. I love both the japanese and the english alphabet keyboard, its kinda hard to type in english because when typing repeating letters or letters on the same button, it keeps changing the letter. you need to always click the right arrow button so the letters will not change. It takes time to get used to it.

Something is wrong with the Japanese keyboard. Previously I was able to switch between different Languages. But right now the Japanese 12 Hiragana keyboard can't be switching to other languages because the Sphere shape button is gone, now where to be found in the Japanese 12 Hiragana keyboard. Could you fix it ASAP please?

When typing in Japanese keys in Romaji format, the keys at the edge, esp. an A is very hard to press correctly, ending up with pressing S instead. Just use the same key layout as its English/alphabet version where "A" and "L" are slightly positioned away from the edge. There is no need to habitate the full keyboard space with keys reaching to edges. Remove the "ー" key, then combine the "、" and "。" keys together and make them toggle between 1tap and 2taps and give " ー" a space where "。" was taking up.

Solid keyboard, and I, like most people, would like Swype as a function. However, maybe I'm just blind but I can't seem to figure out how to enable the Godan keyboard? I've been giving a friend impromptu lessons and on my other phones it was no hassle to switch back and forth. How would I do it on Android 8?

As an English speaker, I found the English alphabet keyboard to be quite uncooperative and found myself wanting to change the layout of the space button or just wanting the English keyboard to be just like the gboard and it is not so easy to switch between these. Otherwise, the Japanese keyboard is wonderful for me.

I used to love it very much until I installed it again last night then I found that all hiraganas in my keyboard turn into an Arabic! I don't know how to do it or how to use it. I can't read it! By the way, when I press one Arabic, it turns into hiragana on my screen. What should I do? Did I do anything in my setting wrong? Please help me! Thanks!

Useless. For some reason in certain apps (like my Japanese dictionary app) the highlighted portion to be changed to kanji is only ever the last kana letter. Making it impossible to write in kanji.

It's shite. It's so clumsy and TIME CONSUMING for typing out Japanese. It's like the t9 system for really old cell phones. I don't want to have to tap a button 1-5 times to get the desired character. Apples keyboard is way more intuitive and easy to use. With the apple one I can easily and quickly type it in romaji and pick from the options of what characters it is.

If you put a lot of this -> (^_^) <- I've no idea whether this is emoji, emoticon, or etc...then this app going to be so much better because right now it's lacking that. Please implement that in the near future

Why do you insist on installing these useless apps on my devices then stopping me from removing them saying they are system. I could understand that if I were in Japan or writing in Japanese that Japanese input would be useful, but I'm not. You're just wasting device storage that I'd rather use for an app I'll actually use.

I'm surprised that this one turns out to be great. Just one more thing is that I have to switch to Japanese keyboard every time I want to insert emoji. And maybe the suggestions in English (Romaji) keyboard should be improved.

My nexus has bloatware japanese input by omron, and then there's this one also. While this one made by google, that omron one can't be uninstalled and being redundant.

Hey. I want qwerty keyboard like windows phone i use, 1) it will convert to hiragana, 2)it will listing the kanji, when i click it will replace the hiragana. This qwerty doesnt work at all. It remains romaji. 12keyboard is work fine but its not my preference.

Add handwritting please. Japanese contains many Kanji characters which I could not type it using pronounsations, but only handwritting can, since Japanese is not my mother tongue. Although I can type it using Mandarin input, I feel upset when I need to change the input keyboard, moreover some Kanji characters in Japanese and Chinese do not share same code. Hope Google will solve this problem very soon. And now I found out that there are many keys on the Japanese Input Keyboard, this make me always type in wrong way, and the key on keyboard do not follow the US qwertyuiop standard, please solve it as soon as you could.

The Japanese ime is great, but the English keyboard part is basically trash. No swipe option. Google's stock keyboard is leagues better than the English part of this one. So much better that I constantly switch to use the stock Google keyboard then back to the Japanese ime. If there was swipe, and some options to change keyboard size, etc.. 5 stars all the way. It's a bummer knowing Google has a good keyboard, but chose not to use it in the ime version.

Problems: 1) You cant customise the keyboard very much like adding a role of numbers to the top. 2) The English typing sugestion is beyond garbage (you can write "becausq" and it would show you 4 different formats to write "becausq" in) 3) I typed this review using this keyboard and its like talking to a person who does not speak your language. Its a challenging game.

I actually cannot get the Japanese language to work on my keyboard. This is really frustrating because I'm learning several languages and it's good to be able to switch between them. The option for Japanese doesn't even show at all.

Will someone please tell me how to add dactin to katakana? Every time I pick a katakana character the dactin option disappears. I will update to 5 stars If I get an answer. My only issue with the app.

I came back after long time, hoping you would have taken my comment and advice seriously in your updates / upgrade, but no. So it still sucks. Only a real Japanese app does it like I need it. The Chinese pinyin version is very good, but the for Japanese input is not. Why not the same way?? On this app, eg. type chris and many possibilities appear, in between are three characters, which I assume gives the choice to hiragana, katakana or kanji. These 3 characters are so EXTREMELY SMALL, NOT ABLE TO READ, THAT LITTLE!!!!!! BTW: a foreign name must automatically converted into KATAKANA!!!!!!

The app works fine at first. But, after a while, it would lag and worst of all, turn into Arabic characters. When pressed it does produce Japanese characters but it's really confusing and challenging to use when the keyboard shows Arabic characters but outputs Japanese characters. I hope this issue is resolved swiftly as I want to use this app with the same eagerness and functionality as I first downloaded it.

Well it took me a few minutes to find where the emojis are, but why are they glowing? They look like floating colorful ghosts, so please turn them back to normal. Also I think the emojis are incomplete, like the sparkles emoji where it's available on other sites like messenger. Please add more emojis.

The auto correct went to complete junk. I'm trying to convert even simple kanji and it won't give me the options. If I type にほん all I want is 日本... not only does it only give 日本, but also 日本is like 3 pages down in suggestions. What kind of junk is that? Every time I start a phrase with の, it attempts to auto convert to 野 regardless of what comes after it... ever since I upgraded my phone to s8, this keyboard is now extremely difficult to use. It worked better with previous android versions.

It would be better if you could remove the English keyboard like you can with the other language keyboards... The English keyboard on this is terrible....

This would get 5 stars from me if this could switch between hiragana and katakana. A handwriting option for kanji would be nice, but I can type out the kana and select it easily enough, but having to do that for katakana words is just annoying. So 3 stars.

I used to have this add-on on my old phone and loved it but now can't get it to appear on the new one. The new phone had gboard preinstalled, which seems to have no support for Japanese. It isn't an option in the language settings, a long press on the English spacebar does nothing and pressing the keyboard icon only allows the choice between English and voice input. Please allow this add-on to work with gboard or offer a suggestion as to what I'm doing wrong.

It works great when I'm using Japanese but it's so annoying when I have to switch between English and Japanese. I noticed that G Board's iOS version now supports Japanese, and it works greatly. Please let this be in G Board language option also in Android.

I don't use this Google. Please give me the option to remove it. It updates all the time without my consent and takes up space on my device. I will not be using it now and nor in future. If someone at Google can respect my request, I will continue to hold the high respect and regards for Google as I've always. Just imagine you cannot put more food of your favorites in a plate you love so much just because you have dump occupying part of your plate and there is no way someone can get rid of it. It always auto updates with fresh dump taking more and more space of your plate but there is a catch. You cannot eat or put more food in your plate when someone is taking that huge fresh dump on your plate. Yes you have no control over it and no you cannot change your phone. There will always be fresh dump in the new plate you're buying for $700 every year. Please fix this Google. Don't make it so hard that I have to either devolve into the stone ages with a Nokia 1100 or a Kyocera or eat that sad slow poisoned vicious apple.

The corrections for the regular QWERTY layout keyboard are utter trash. It makes absolutely no useful suggestions when I mistype (meaning none whatsoever), and the lack of swipe capability is aggravating. As much as I like the English version of Google keyboard, this Japanese version is TERRIBLE to the point that I'm going back to another keyboard just for better Japanese language support.

Yet another language based program that I do not use. I do not speak Japanese nor can I read or write it. Please stop having this program reinstall itself, it is wasting space on my phone's memory. Thank you!

The Japanese aspect of this app is great and reflects the Japanese phone format in kana as I'm used to. The problem is that it's difficult to type English with the English setting and there is no autocorrect or swipe!!

This keyboard is the best Japanese keyboard available to android. But that doesn't mean it can't be better than it is now. For the love of God please allow an incorporation of the G board to allow multilingual people to swipe in their language whilst also saving the ability to switch to Japanese in a single press. Ideally the absolute best would be to have the choice of Japanese keyboard, g board swiping, and Japanese handwriting keyboard all incorporated into one input method. Difficult interface which made it impossible to type out any words and no tutorial on usage at all. If the interface is going to be so difficult/different, it should have a "first time user" tutorial attached

The keyboard is a pain in the rear; if it was like the English keyboards it would be so much easier and intimately faster to type. Even my Japanese friends think it's weird.

Please update and help me! I've used this in my tablet and It's one of the most useful jap keyboard app but when I installed it on my phone the keyboard is NOT JAPANESE!!(I don't know exactly but I think it's arabic??) The keyboard shows characters that are NOT japanese but when typed it enters japanese characters. Please fix this.
