Google Connectivity Services for Android
Battery drain for wifi after the latest update is now my #1 battery drain overall. I am on Project Fi on a stock Nexus 6P and I had nearly 8 hours of wifi activity while not connected at work. Please fix this as it is very important for Project Fi users to have power friendly wifi
This update claimed to provide VPN security if turned on in Settings/Google/Networking. However, initially there was no Networking setting on both Nexus 9 on Android N or Nexus 5 on Android M. Had the strong feeling this was another US only deal. However, a couple of weeks after update the Networking option appeared but only on Nexus 5. Will update in due course concerning functionality
I am very disappointed in the devs. Google Nexus 6 is a great phone but I have so many issues with WI-FI. I would expect more responsiveness from Google in order to fix this. Constant dropping of WI-FI, slow speed. I have the X-1 Xfinity system pushing 125 g on all my connected devices that are not Google Nexus. I have two Different Google Nexus phones and both have the same problem. Please figure out what the glitch is, push out an update to fix!
It will stay connected to a WiFi source long after out of range leaving me with no service or super super slow internet speed when LTE is available. I believe the issue of not reconnecting to a WiFi hotspot after rebooting the phone and then having to turn off wifi and back on in order to reconnect to a saved wifi hotpot it's also do to this app.
MY NEXUS 6 HAS THE WORST WIFI CONNECTIVITY OF ANY PHONE I CAN REMEMBER OWNING... SO I WAS VERY EXCITED WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THIS UPDATE FOR THE WIFI ASSISTANT.... WEEELLLL IT HAS MADE ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL.... STILL HOLDS ONTO A WIFI SIGNAL THAT IS SO WEAK YOU END UP WITH NO WIFI OR DATA AS THE PHONE THINKS YOU HAVE WIFI AND WON'T SWITCH TO LTE... USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently the new version is supposed to work with Nexus devices much like Google Fi devices by Auto connecting to open Wi-Fi networks. However the directions in the description say to go to settings / Google / networking. The problem is, there is no such place to drill down to. Blech
When the network is in LTE mode I am not getting the incoming calls. All other internet services, out going calls are working fine. When i checked in Google, some website says eventhough nexus5 supports LTE and 4G but this problem so many people's are facing. How Google is going solve? Or any other solution on setting changing?
Nexus 5, Marshmallow 6.0.1. Before latest update - I don't use WiFI anymore, due to massive battery drain. GPS doesn't work properly for a long time!! And now, after latest update, my BT headset doesn't work. It connects, but after 3 cellular calls no voice out/in. Even restart doesn't work! Connectivity app doesn't handle connectivity - Please check your apps before you publish them or replace your validation team/PM!
The WiFi connectivity is certainly very defective. It disconnects very often from WiFi and also drains the battery within few hours (~3h)..Please fix these issues asap, they're really irritating...
The only thing I'd like to see added is the option to prefer cellular given lower latency/throughput/signal criteria. Nothing is more aggravating than trying to walk a few blocks in a city and the app I'm in hang indefinitely while my connection switches constantly.
So many complaints why wifi Assistant is not there. Just be patient. It is rolling out slowly. I updated mine and it was not there at the beginning, the next day it show up in Google. Best to reboot your device after update to ensure it runs smoothly.
This review is for the latest update which I just uninstalled. Wifi connectivity on Nougat is VERY spotty. Nexus 5X often doesn't see or connect to available networks. When it does connect, it frequently drops a few minutes later. Previous version is much more stable.
There is no way to turn it on, on my phone. I go to to setting>Google but there is no networking. Another half baked app by Google. UPDATE!!!, The networking showed up on its own the next day. Now will go try it out.
Does not reestablish the connection automatically on networks you have previously set it to use the VPN for. If wifi disconnects, it forgets it was connected and prompts again.
Keeps losing WIFI connection causing it to continuously search. This causes Android System to use 50% or more battery which results in having to charge the phone 3 times a day. Only workaround is a reboot.
My WiFi and Bluetooth keeps dropping connection more often since this update am seriously looking on Apple for that iPhone my Android phones always have am issue fed up
During screen off wifi disconnected due to out of range then when you are back in range wifi does not automatically connect to the wifi modem until you press power button.
I have been connected to free available 5GHz Wi-Fi by the assistant, and it is awesome. Doesn't always work, though. Too bad it cannot be 'always on'.
My Nexus 6 seems to take down my home home internet connection constantly...this update hasn't helped one bit
YOU GUYS BROKE EVERY NEXUS 6 AND YOU CAN'T EVEN MAN UP TO IT.
I'm not sure about this app but if you want your Android to switch to a better available WiFi signal then install Best WiFi from the play store.
It works fine once I am connected and it sets up fine when it asks to secure my connection, but it never remembers my choice which is very annoying.
Seems to work well on my Nexus 6p, however while I verified the app is installed on my Nexus 9, it is apparently disabled as the Networking option under Settings / Google is missing and the "Use open Wi-Fi automatically" under "Configure Wi-Fi" is also missing. Is there a plan to correct this?
Wifi disconnects for a moment icon disappear, and connects again to the same wifi in a second, and icon appears! Continuesly happening notfixed yet! Download getting crashed due to! Is this a bug?
Wifi is still spotty... But people not finding the Wifi assistant... I found it under "google settings" not phone settings. It went google settings>networking >Wifi assistant
on wifi connection heats up like it's going to blow up any moment. battery doesn't last an hour on full charge.
The connection and authentication is noticeably slower on Android N than Marshmallow. Also can the connectivity options for the Frequency Band be reintroduced.
This installed on my device but I don't have the option to enable it. Is it possible that this is disabled by my carrier?
This update didn't fix my issue with University WiFi, doesn't allow certificates if this would make any sense. Thanks
Updated the app never got the wifi assistant "networking"isn't even in the Google settings
I do not seem to have the "network" option, I go setting's > google, but there is no "network" option! Please help as I would like to try this setting and give honest review!
Like many others, I don't have a Settings->Google->Network in order to enable this.
Poor connection since latest update, problems connecting despite very strong signal
wifi have been connecting pretty good to open wifi but we will see how this update helps I did not notice existed
Hopefully it's fixed now!!
Google's phone are all boring In wifi speed. lol speed.
vraiment je suis très déçu Google, je croyais que toute vos apps (produits) sont top mais celui est le plus médiocre...alors ça doit être amélioré j'attends le plus de vous Google parce que vous êtes les meilleurs pour moi sinon je vous aimes !!
I have been using nexus 6p since the last 2 weeks. It takes 30 second to connect on a remembered network, whereas my nexus 4 connects within 2 seconds without this app. Need help with this issue
My tablet just automatically disconnected to WiFi all the time...plz fix

Really stable connection when I'm connected with a open network, but my only gripe is I was able to choose the antenna before. For example I was able to choose 5 or 2.4 before and even keep only one on. I'm not sure if this is because I'm currently using Android beta program or if they disable the option. Thanks running Android 7.0 and everything is great.
