It worked great with all my other phones but my newest waterproof phone isn't w carrier for it. Kyocera . Like it works for YouTube..Pandora.. but not my photos or game apps ..like to play just dance now on my TV I gotta connect with a diff cell phone n then join the same dance room with my phone n then it'll work .idk IU ts 5 stars for sure with Samsung iPhone Alcatel lg... just not mine.

I have been able screen cast my phone in the past while using my phones hot-spot. Now all it keeps telling me is that it's unable to find my chromecast device which makes no sense since its set up to my hot-spot. And for some reason I haven't been able to cast Netflix or YouTube... Was never a problem until now. Please fix this bug.

The device and app are incredibly unstable, constant fiddling is required such as: restarting, rebooting, uninstall, reinstall, close app, reopen app, And the fact that the interface is your phone just makes this a secondary novelty device. -Please bring back the nexus tv. -Or another android tv with a dedicated remote. -One that could do tv volume, and power on/off would be even better.

Suddenly it stops showing casting option in my mobile on 8 June 17. it is connected to the same mobile hotspot .. it working properly earlier ..Its of no use to me now as I don't have a wifi connection You mean to say I have to purchase one more device to cast video. Then Why can't I go for other brand cast device ?

Absolute rubbish...bought it today and it's going back tomorrow. Wouldn't cast the display from my HTC M9 whilst outside the Google app, tried it with my Google Nexus 7 tablet and still the same. I mean come on, this is Google's own tablet working (or not working as the case is) with their own product! I shall be investing my refund on a Android Kodi box! Shame as I had high hopes for this too.

Love it for playing music and for getting information when I can't pick up my phone, but it's a horrible shopping list! Keep is the much better app for a shopping list. The Home stopped sending my items to a Keep list and started making me use a Home shopping list. It's TERRIBLE. You can't organize items by category, access it quickly, or pull it up where the wifi or data signals are weak, which is in half the stores I frequent.

It often has issues with screen mirroring, the suggested shows are not geared towards me. They really should work on the chromecast connection with one phone and running off mobile unlimited plans are the new thing so need to linit us on when we can chrome cast with the app. Wifi should not be mandatory!

Paid for the device and it refuses to connect to any wireless signal. No matter how many times i type the password, nothing. I've tried on 4 different devices and 2 different Wi-Fi signals w the same result. Literally nothing. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but google doesn't have any clear instructions.

Will give it 5 stars when UK starts to get updates that the USA already have, be careful when reading review's for the Google Home in the UK as most review's are US based and there's a lot of functionality that we don't yet get. What it can do however, it does very well. Lack of multi user support is a real downer.

At least I know I'm not alone. I'm using my phone's hot-spot as well and now I can't use it. Funny how they limit that but yet, we are giving them money based on us using a hot-spot. So why try to limit? Frustrating to say the least. Any suggestions for alternatives?

Is used to work I could cast from any device directly to my Chromecast now that feature does not work anymore. I use my device for my internet and I would like to cast from my device to my Chromecast. This is another one of Google's poorly thought-out fixes for something that isn't broken. Feels like after the alphabet takeover Google's gone downhill.

Chromecast is quite good device, comes with very easy installation, but this app is mediocre at best. After a dozens minutes of use it lose connection to the device, neither it is possible to follow content currently displayed, nor change its volume or other options. This app has is very promising, but it requires a lot of polishing yet.

While app has always had connection issues. Now google is taking its always connected network to an annoying new level. Now when one person in the house is casting to a chromecast everyones phone connects, with notifications and the ability to inturupt what you are casting and it tells everyone what is being casted right in their notifications list. This needs to stop or at bare minimum make a private cast option

I loved it for a while. But now any time I open a connected app on my phone, the "connect to a nearby device" box comes up, & I CANNOT connect. It gives me a pin number, I enter the pin, & "failed to connect to nearby device". It's a great app IF IT WORKED. But since it does not, this is absolute garbage.

I like this app, it has potential. But, this thing keeps freezing, skipping, and the most annoying part, the sound stops during play time. I have to keep rebooting, disconnecting, it's soo annoying. Also, it's a hugh turn off being I use it a lot to screen movies. I've tried every resolution listened. Please fixxxxx

HARDWARE: It's pretty durable. The amount of frustration this device will bring would cause damage if it wasn't. Personally, I've thrown my against the wall, against cement, thrown it out the window... the list goes on. It finally stopped working today, which actually makes it less useful than when it was working. But only slightly. Took apart to have a look. There was processor grease all over everything. Like a blind person put the grease in it. Total CHINESE JUNK. Not worth $35. SOFTWARE: Works sometimes. Usually crashes or has issues. An incredible long shot for a replacement for cable. Oh, and YouTube TV doesn't work well with it... you have to buy a newer version to enjoy the benefits of YouTube TV. Poor planning on all parts when it comes to this device. Maybe try Roku instead.

The original chrome cast would work well , Google automatically updated overnight and now no devices can be seen. Smells of windows marketing as chrome cast only displays a blue error screen. Not even worth selling it Ebay.

I can't even use it now! Updated my WiFi to a much faster one, diagnostics say very strong connection. Now my Chromecast won't run properly and I get a constant message that my WiFi is too slow or its not optimised when trying to cast screen (On a Samsung tablet, which worked fine might I add on my old seriously slow wifi) . It's also always out of sync for Netflix 99% of the time. At the moment it was a waste of money and it's soo frustrating.

If ur buying a cast device then same ur self some time and money DON'T. To make it work u have to factory reset Everytime. And every single day u have to select time how to cast or fix some issues. And support is next to nothing. Feedback it's better if u keep it to ur self.

Had to change settings in my router to get Chromecast working. Then my phone couldn't find the Chromecast anymore. Been through all the tech articles and have a thorough understanding of what Chromecast needs to work. It just seems really flaky and unreliable. App getting uninstalled and Chromecast going back to the store.

If you are having disconnect issues when using a s7 uninstall Samsung connect updates and disable auto update. Latest version of Home has issues scrolling left and right. I need to use my entire thumb. Up and down seem fine.

This app is fantastic, when it decides to work. Every 2 days it gets stuck and it thinks it's casting to the Chromecast, when it's not, and it refuses to disconnect. Tried clearing app data, force stopping, uninstalling and reinstalling, but to no avail. Great job Google, fantastically designed app you got here...

Lacks basic abilities like control over wallpapers/backdrops, options to disable CEC, or separate casting of video and audio. It turns your devices into a remote control but isn't anymore convenient than a computer with HDMI. I'm surprised this tech hasn't evolved more.

Its really aggravating that you haven't fixed the problem & apparently you dont care. The setting is stuck on cast although its actually not casting, so you cant use the app for what it was created for in the first place!! You will hate this app! Do Not Waste Your Money on a Chromecast POS!!

CHROMECAST HEATS UP AND STOPS (device is now not usable)- Firmware update 1.23.84839 ruined it all and update 1.24.88007 didn't fixed it either. Give us a BETTER update to Chromecast to fix our devices. Oh and while you're at it, LET ME USE MY BLUETOOTH HEADSET while casting. Allow option to use device audio rather than through the TV.

I have to uninstall and reinstall google home every time I want to connect to and use my Chromecast 2, never had this issue before. Tried everything thing else to get it to connect factory resets rebooting all devices and Wireless, only thing that works is uninstalling and reinstalling google home.

Recent upgrades has caused the device being hidden in Windows 10 latest update too. Now it is not possible to cast the desktop via the WiFi connected devices icon. Urgent. Most Windows PC and laptops are affected by this error, pnp of the device is not functioning. Correct this error as soon as possible.

Certain speakers connected thru Chromecast audio randomly stop playing & have to be re-synced constantly. Multi-room speaker control could use some work (& it takes some fumbling to get set up), but it's way cheaper than paying for Sonos. Still more functional & reliable than Apple TV

We should be able to force quality of videos on chrome cast. It is absolutely nonsense to no allow users to choose the quality. I have very fast internet connection and cab easily watch 1080p videos, but chrome cast dropa the quality just because many ISP know by dropping speed couple of times forces devices like chrome cast to switch lower quality, Telstra in Australia does it and it's funny because it is an obvious rip off.

For first setup no problems..for 2 month if i activated portable hotspot on android the chromecast 2 detected on cast screen menu in google home, but after chromecast 2 automatic update online now if activated portable hotspot on android the chromecast 2 cannot detect in google home, even i use wifi router the chromecast 2 cannot connect to wifi router. And now i cannot use chromecast 2 because always reconnect me..Please fix the big big big problems...

Absolutely disappointed. They're controlling freaks with location and stuff plus won't work with out WiFi witch for the money you pay you expecting it to at list play and view photos and videos but doesn't. Waste of money

Bugged and featureless, the device can't make reminders or notes. Shopping list has been removed from keep. Device loops asking where I live, when it's already set in the app. And constantly gets there was an issue error when saying ok Google...

I have a LG G5 and up until the 9th of June I was able to cast from my phone to my Chromecast using my phones mobile hotspot. But since then it won't recognize my hotspot or my device even tho my Chromecast is connected. Is there ever going to be a fix for this? I'm a truck driver and rely on my Chromecast to watch tv out on the road, and since I can't use a public Wi-Fi for my Chromecast I need my hotspot to operate it. Please please fix this!!!

As per other users, over the last few days the Home App does not allow you to cast via a mobile phone hotspot. Worked fine previously. Home app has no Video section and no cast button on apps anymore. Can Google please remedy?!

Getting better seems to cast on some sites now, where update before this one didn't work at all. Would like it to be working fully with my Sony 4k Android TV, as now I have to use web video caster, which is an app that hasn't failed me yet, although recently there are unexpected disconnects.

I am currently unable to connect to previously compatible apps (Netflix & YouTube). The "Cast" button is nowhere to be found on either app. I have tried rebooting Chromecast from the power source as well as restarting my phone several times to no avail & have even tried clearing the data/cache of the apps. No dice! I use my mobile hotspot (Samsung J7 phone) to power my Chromecast Ultra because I live in a very rural area. Under the Devices tab nothing shows up because the app doesn't recognize my HotSpot as a network. Also, the time zone is wrong, but because there are no devices listed I can't troubleshoot any of my issues with Chromecast or Google Home. WHAT NOW???

Love it, but it doesn't play videos well when I use my chrome cast. It plays perfectly fine on my TV, but the video timer on my phone doesn't change. And when I go back into the app on my phone, the video restarts to a certain time. Happens a lot when I watch Twitch and Netflix on my TV. Please fix this.

When it breaks it breaks. I don't want to reboot both my phone and the CC every freaking time something go nuts. Get a grip Crome guys! Update the app! Fix the disconnect error!

I love using my chrome cast for Netflix and the like. It's so simple yet so powerful. All that said I'm having a problem playing music through Spotify. I'm not sure who is at fault here, Spotify or the Chromecast but I'm writing 2 review anyway. An ad played and then my phone closed the Spotify app while streaming. Now whenever I try to stream to the Chromecast it shows he ad playing without sound. I love playing music to my TV but now I can't enjoy that.

The only way this app works for me is to uninstall updates on Google play. However it will constantly tell me to update Google play services and that certain apps will not work. So hurry Up and fix this issue. I loved being able to mirror my screen using the mobile hot spot, and now I cant do that unless I do what I said up above.
