Radio LiMe è un progetto di comunicazione studentesca nato nel 2010 formato interamente dagli studenti del liceo di Mendrisio e patrocinato da Radio Gwendalyn. Essa diventa un libero strumento di comunicazione in grado di muoversi su più fronti all'interno ed all'esterno del campus liceale.

Formata da una commissione di studenti di un'età compresa tra i 15 e i 19 anni, Radio LiMe è in grado di porsi come giovane osservatore della società e del territorio in cui vive. Cio' che unisce i ragazzi della radio è principalmente l'entusiasmo nei confronti del mondo delle comunicazioni, la naturale curiosità e la voglia di condividere e di fare nuove esperienze .

La cultura concerne sia l’individuo che la collettività di cui egli fa parte; “fare cultura” significa dar vita a un’attività che consente di coltivare l’animo umano. La cultura si muove di pari passo con l’arte di cui una delle più diffuse e antiche espressioni è la musica. La musica è l'arte dei suoni nel tempo.
Già Platone la definì come tutto ciò che soddisfa desideri e aspirazioni.

E desideri e aspirazioni sono spesso il motore dell’animo umano. La comunicazione garantisce comunanza, partecipazione, ed è per questo che attraverso la comunicazione, si costituiscono le comunità: siano esse reali, legate al territorio, o virtuali, come quella di internet.
Date queste premesse risulta evidente l’interazione tra i tre fattori Cultura, Musica e Comunicazione, e come essi abbiano a che fare con comunità e partecipazione. Da qui l’idea di una radio web liceale per cui; lavorare alla sua creazione significa quindi chiamare i giovani a fare arte, cultura e comunicazione.

In un’epoca di grandi evoluzioni tecnologiche e di sviluppo esponenziale dei mezzi di comunicazione, parlare di radio sembrerebbe quasi voler tornare indietro nel tempo o tentare di riesumare qualcosa di obsoleto, se non addirittura dimenticato.

In realtà, nonostante i suoi cento anni, la radio è sempre attuale e può considerarsi a ragion veduta uno dei più importanti strumenti di comunicazione del futuro, del quale difficilmente si potrà fare a meno. Se, da un lato il progresso ci spinge a varcare nuove frontiere e a stare al passo con i tempi, non possiamo ignorare i molteplici vantaggi che ci offre uno strumento così utile e versatile che ha sulle proprie spalle una storia non indifferente e che ha accompagnato numerose generazioni di ascoltatori.

Per dimostrare la validità della tesi secondo cui la radio è certamente proiettata nel futuro, chi meglio dei giovani d’oggi, pura espressione del mondo di domani, potrebbe fornire risposte più convincenti in merito ai numerosi interrogativi che un mezzo di comunicazione sociale di tale importanza inevitabilmente alimenta?

Nasce così il progetto “Radio LiMe” dove i giovani del Liceo di Mendrisio sono i veri protagonisti. Creando uno spazio di protagonismo, all’interno del quale possano sperimentarsi come soggetti attivi, promotori di esperienze significative per sé e per i coetanei, attingendo a risorse personali spesso inespresse, i giovani potranno fare cultura ed intrattenimento, avvicinando, con il loro linguaggio e la loro energia, altri giovani a questa iniziativa, cercando di eliminare quelle distanza e quei pregiudizi che allontano i ragazzi dalla partecipazione diretta alla vita sociale e culturale del loro paese, permettendo loro di mobilitarsi, condividere e ritrovarsi in un progetto per se stessi e per la comunità attraverso un percorso/esperienza la cui sperimentazione risulta indispensabile verso il divenire “adulti consapevoli e cittadini maturi”. In an era of great technological and exponential growth of the media, talk radio seems almost want to go back in time or groped to resurrect something obsolete, if not forgotten.

In fact, despite its one hundred years, the radio is always present and can be considered a good reason one of the most important communication tools of the future, which will be difficult to do without. If, on the one hand the progress drives us to cross new frontiers and to keep pace with the times, we can not ignore the various benefits that gives us a tool so useful and versatile that it has on their shoulders a considerable history and that has accompanied numerous generations of listeners.

To demonstrate the validity of the argument that the radio is certainly the future in mind, who better than the youth of today, pure expression of tomorrow's world, could provide the most convincing answers to the many questions about that a means of social communication of such importance inevitably feeds?

Thus was born the project "Radio LiMe" where young people of the Lyceum of Mendrisio are the real stars. Creating an area of ​​leadership, within which they can experiment as active agents, promoters of meaningful experiences for themselves and their peers, drawing from personal resources often unspoken, young people can do culture and entertainment, approaching, with their language and their energy, other young people in this initiative, trying to eliminate the distance and the prejudices that boys move away from direct participation in the social and cultural life of their country, allowing them to mobilize, share and find themselves in a project for themselves and for the community through a journey / experience testing of which is essential towards becoming "adults aware and mature citizens."
