Liceo Gaio Valerio Catullo

Il Liceo di Monterotondo è nato come sezione accorpata del Liceo Scientifico Peano di
Monterotondo. Raggiunta la completezza di una sezione e di un biennio ginnasiale, si è distaccato dal
Liceo Scientifico Peano ed è diventato sezione staccata del Liceo Classico Orazio di Roma.
A questo punto la sezione staccata di Monterotondo del Liceo-Ginnasio Orazio ha iniziato a costruire
una sua precisa identità ed a definire meglio le sue caratteristiche sul territorio. Ha attuato la maxisperimentazione
linguistica e la mini-sperimentazione di inglese nel triennio del Liceo Classico. Ha
promosso interesse ed attenzione per gli studi umanistici a Monterotondo e Mentana, Comuni in cui è
in atto una grande trasformazione urbanistica e sociale, proponendo iniziative culturali che la
popolazione ha mostrato di apprezzare. Grazie al radicamento nel territorio, il Liceo ha potuto ampliare
il bacino di utenza che si è esteso oltre il XXXII Distretto.
Nel 2000, raggiunto il numero di 560 alunni, il Liceo Classico di Monterotondo ha ottenuto
l’autonomia amministrativa e finanziaria dal Liceo Orazio di Roma. La prima Dirigente Scolastica nominata
è stata la Prof.ssa Emilia Oppido (purtroppo deceduta nella primavera 2015) che
volle promuovere un referendum tra gli studenti per l’intitolazione. Fu scelto il nome di Gaio Valerio
Catullo, perché illustre testimone della civiltà classica e simbolo della identità storica del nostro Istituto.
Seguirono, sino all’anno scolastico 2014/15 nel quale il nostro Liceo ha raggiunto i 954 studenti,
i Dirigenti Scolastici : D’Alessandro, Lamura, Bussani.
La Dirigente Scolastica in carica da quest’anno scolastico 2015/16 è la Prof.ssa Maria Teresa MASSIMETTI The Lyceum of Monterotondo was born as a merged section of the High School of Peano
Monterotondo. After reaching the completeness of a section and a gymnasium two years, he has separated himself from
Peano High School and became a branch of the Liceo Classico Orazio Rome.
At this point the detached section of Monterotondo the Lyceum-Gymnasium Orazio began building
its own identity and to better define its characteristics in the area. He has implemented the maxisperimentazione
linguistics and mini-testing of English in the three years of High School. Has
promoted interest and attention for the Humanities in Monterotondo and Mentana, municipalities in which it is
activate a great urban and social transformation, proposing cultural initiatives that the
population has shown its appreciation. Thanks to local roots, the High School has been able to expand
the catchment area that has spread beyond the XXXII District.
In 2000, reached a total of 560 pupils, the Monterotondo High School got
the administrative and financial autonomy from the Liceo Orazio Rome. The first Headmaster named
was Prof. Emilia Oppido (unfortunately died in spring 2015) that
