About Concise Irish Sign Language
The Concise Irish Sign Language Dictionary is an Irish Sign Language (ISL) video dictionary, currently containing approximately 1000 signs. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive ISL dictionary system in an easy-to-use form.
Concise ISL has been developed by two young, Irish engineers, one of whom is a life-long practitioner of Irish Sign Language.
Features:
Each word is portrayed in video form and accompanied by high quality images of the letters used in each hand to form the sign.
Signs are further sorted into categories, thus facilitating the learning process.
A simple, intuitive interface allows the user to search the dictionary according to both word and category simultaneously.
Through the addition of signs such as "texting", "tablet", "facebook" and many more, the dictionary reflects the modern context of the language.
The app is intended to be child-friendly, with the inclusion of a large number of signs in categories such as Animals, Colours, Food and Sports among many others.
Concise ISL makes use of features including swipe gestures and sliding menus.
The App currently includes approximately 1000 signs and we aim to increase this number periodically.
The App supports offline use. A data connection is required to download videos as desired. However, once downloaded videos can be viewed offline thereafter. A caching system allows the user to add and remove videos from your device as desired.
This allows the inclusion of such a large number of signs without imposing the consumption of an inordinate amount of on-device memory. The video size has been carefully calculated to reduce bandwidth consumption.

This app is fantastic. Really clear. Just downloaded a few minutes ago and love it already. It is really going to help me to learn ISL. I especially like how it shows you the letters of the alphabet used in signs. For example, "her" goes from "H" to "R" very quickly. The app shows you this by clicking on "right hand". Excellent value for money. Thank you!

Would like to see phrases for conversational isl or link words in dictionary to signing phrases/english sentences. Disappointed that it is paid app that require wifi access at all times. There is another excellent basic signs and phrases isl app that when downloaded can be watched without wifi.

This app has lots of signs. I like that it shows each hand for the sign. Also like the way you can search either by category or individual word.

I like this app - I am totally new to learning sign language and this is the first isl app I've tried. I think it's great that you can browse by theme or search for the word you want. I would like to see a lot more words added and some short starter conversation sentences like 'How are you' etc.

I think this app is great. Helped me pass my level 1 exams tho some signs here can differ a lot but that is due to whether you male or female and age groups etc. There are some words missing like "interpret" and "interpreter" and "hard of hearing" which I think should be included and the help you get too if you contact them maybe about simple queries is also very good. I really love this app so clear and helpful.
