BackOff is designed for the Samsung Galaxy SIII running KitKat. This app disables the backlight for the hardware keys and sets an init.d script that will disable the buttons again at each boot. After running the app it is safe to uninstall.

is it just me or is there not a built in setting that does this? That is how I keep mine off. Im just sayin so I went ahead and rated the same as everone else... just so I could say.
