Great Penang food! Delicious Penang Food! The objective of this app is to help you to find the various great street food outlets and restaurants in Penang at your fingertips.
In Malaysia, they are called hawkers. Penang hawker food is famous for its unique tastes and flavor that delivers instant ecstasy to food lovers. With so many varieties, you will not be left wanting for food choices in this food haven. The mission of Glutton's Corner is to bring you great food at great cities in Malaysia at your fingertips.
To ensure a fast and responsive application, all the photographs are added inside the application; hence the size of the package. Unlike other web apps, the positive advantage is you won't experience delays in the photographs loading. Also, if you are a tourist, you do not want to download photographs while roaming away from your home country! This will avoid roaming charges.
To use this application, start off by tapping on the plate clock that shows the estimated time range. You can choose breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper. This is because the food outlets are open at specific time of the day. The next screen will show a slider gallery with all the available Penang hawker food for the time of the day. Slide the food photographs to the left to show more delicious dishes. Tap on the food photograph to reveal food locations and the food description.
To read more about the Penang hawker food, tap on the food description. To find out about a food outlet, tap on the name of the restaurant. That will reveal the story about the food outlet, the info, the map showing the location and the nearby eating places.

The idea is good, but needs lots of improvements. It is not practical for the user to tap the stalls one by one to find which is the nearest. For example, there are many stalls selling char koay teow. To find out the nearest, I need to tap on each of them and check out their map, one at a time. Too time consuming. What if I want to eat a few things? I have to repeat this process for all types of food. Better to have a map to show the locations of all the stalls, and allow me to zoom into a particular area so see what's available in that area. This will be useful for people not familiar with the street names and locations in Penang.

The idea is great and the app is useful for identifying different foods and what's in them. Needs maps, GPS, and a much larger database of locations. I had a hard time finding anything in Batu Ferringhi. Maybe crowdsourcing to add locations?
