Glose - Social ebook Reader for Android
I used this because I got a free book, but the app is fairly useless as a reader. No bookmarks or place saving and the general interface is poor. page turning is troublesome at times and I keep accidentally highlighting half the page which then leaves me with a frozen message bubble stating that I'm offline and my highlights will be uploaded when I'm back online. the only way I can get rid of this message is to reboot my device. the only decent feature is being able to save the quotes to a "card" but I think half of the uploaded ones were done by accident.
I'm like everyone else who reviewed it. For the free ebook, for which I couldn't find anything I wanted to read. Maybe later, after some usage I'll be able to write something that I know something about ! I have a feeling though, that I'll be sticking with Kindle or Nook ! Sorry
Very glitchy. I have only succeeded in finding the menu in a book a couple of times, making reading the book impossible.
Takes forever to load on my tablet; search function is either broken or in deep hibernation.
Not great. Forces portrait mode and you have to swipe to turn pages, no tapping to turn a page like most other ebook reading apps. Too easy to accidentally create highlights. No dictionary.
Got a free ebook and I choose a book and they gave me a completely different book. Thanks for nothing. App glitches too. Awful.
Like most of the other reviewers, I downloaded this to redeem a free book. Also like most of the reviewers here, I quickly discovered this app is broken. I have an S8+, so it's not due to old hardware or OS. So much for my free ebook.
I started using Glose when I redeemed a free book offer. It bills itself as a "social reading" app, but I haven't found any desire to use it for more than just regular reading... Perhaps that makes me anti-social. I like that it has a night mode that inverts the colors to provide white text against a black background, as this is easier on my eyes. I wish it had an option to set the text and background colors directly though, or that it offered more built-in color combinations (yellow on black, for example) As others have reported, there are navigation issues and unexpected/unwanted highlighting of text. At this time I really don't see that this app offers anything to compete with other apps like Kindle or Nook... But I haven't written it off yet.
I was given a free book and read a page but had to go back to it later, tried opening book several times and it kept sayi g the app wasnt working. So i uninstalled it. To bad book started off good.
This app will not let me sign up. Buttons won't work and just keeps redirecting me to the homepage and then starts all over again asking me to sign up. Super frustrating!
I got this app only to read a free ebook. I would not use it for anything else. It takes forever to load every page, and it keeps losing my place. I am going to try and find another way to read the book.
Used this app because I got a free ebook. However book won't load for me to even read it. Very annoyed.
Frustrating, the pages don't scroll at all... Unusable
Can't get the book to progress beyond the publisher info page.
Updates keep rolling in, but this app still isn't worth using, even for free books! Every time I get to the end of the chapter, it won't let me flip to the next page. I have to use the index (or whatever that button is called at the top of the screen). Closing and reopening used to work, but it doesn't anymore.
This app wont let me move from one chapter to the next. Super frustrating
I realize you get what you pay for and this is a free app on which I am trying, and failing, to read a free book (it's from Simon & Schuster so it should work) but still... I haven't got past the first page because the app random goes forward and then freezes on a white screen. So annoying. No easy way, that I can see to alter font and that sort of thing either. I'll give it another try, because I want to read the book, but I'm not holding my breath.
It's super annoying! I downloaded a book for free, but after almost every chapter I get a few pages in and then it just jumps to the next chapter. I always end up super confused! The ability to turn a page sucks to, doesn't always let you actually get to the next page. Lots of glitches that need to be addressed. Especially the jumping pages thing....
Ordered a hotel stay it gave me a offer to redeem a book free with choices of about six books I hit redeem then open a account like it instructed me to do to be able to read it which is this app and then at end said sorry offer expires in seconds bull crap! I want my free book ty
I downloaded the app to read some free books from a publishing company. It's mind numbingly bad. It shuts down multiple times in a chapter, at least every 2 minutes. It continually tries to have me highlight and annotate and I can't find how to shut that off. And finally, I managed to open the font size and color scheme menu once by accident but can't figure it out again. Glose is certainly not intuitive and they are trying too hard on too many things. Focus on books or community. Definitely not both.
I downloaded the app to get a free book & the app didn't wrk. It's a waste of time, or I uninstalled it.
I also downloaded this ap to receive a book from a publisher. But Glose will not open it, continues to be a blank page.
Sucks. Big time
I can't find the app to put it on my PC..any suggestions?
All readers work on my tablets, but this one has a tendency to crash if you touch it wrong. Two limited size adjustment fonts, no TTS capability, app design is lacking, could not display book cover. Searched for free books... list of 10. Uninstalled.
It seems that if you tap on any text when trying to turn the page it highlights it. When you try to un highlight it you end up highlighting more or not being able to. Overall it's an ebook reader like any other. Except the problematic highlighter...

Now every time I get to end of chapter I am unable to turn the page just keeps going backwards. Also it doesnt seem to save where I leave off, have to remember what chapter I am on each time. Its a shame because I really want to finish this book but will have to buy on another service. I will keep my Nook
If I touched the page anywhere, it crashed. I never saw anything other than the initial screen. (Samsung Galaxy Tab 4)
i want to read my book. after opened it, i only saw a crashed page.
This app force closes when I try to navigate it.
Fantastic book offers free or otherwise
This app is awful. I loaded it on my Samsung Galaxy S2 Tablet. It worked fine for a couple of days then I started getting an error message that said Glose has stopped working. I rebooted and reinstalled. No luck so I decided to load it on my Motorola droid. Same thing. I'll stick with my Kindle thank you.
This app has several problems in my opinion. It only let's me swipe the pages, but in one chapter it forced me to up but didn't divide the pages up. Every time I took my finger off it would snap back to start of chapter. Also sometimes when swipeing to next page it skips huge amounts of book, many chapters. Sometimes forward sometimes toward becoming 1 time all the way past the beginning. Wont allow you to hold your phone in any direction but up and down. And highlights way too sensitive as well, others too
Just downloaded, and no problems with viewing; however, when I tried to login an ERROR kept appearing: "java.io.IOException: No authentication challenges found." I selected "OK" but, was looped back to the same spot to login with the same error message. Thanks for your assistance. I'm looking forward to this APP working out and reading your many books!

I've used many readers on smartphones. This is the worst one by far: 1. No search function (want to get to a keyword or a passage your remember, no dice. 2. Does not keep track of pages often. If you turn off app you may have to turn several pages to get to where you were. 3. If you touch the page, if may interpret the page touch as you wanting to quote it. It then stays highlighted until you turn to the next page. 4. Turning a page often takes dozens of touches, sometimes it jumps many chapters ahead. 5. When you open the app, you then have to select a book, then actually click, read this book. So two extra touches to get to a page near where you left off. Too much touching. Edit: After finishing the one book, I removed the app, it also did things like quitting into the "library" from time to time. The book was free, but next time, they will have to pay me money AND give me the book. Bottom line: WORST APP OF ALL TIME.
All it does is crash I can't use the dammed thing
Fabulous app..the future of book clubs!

I did not like that my spot was not saved. After closing the app for the night and opening the next day, I would have to find the place it left off at. I also disliked that I would have to go back to the table of contents every time I finished a chapter. Every time I touched the screen it would highlight text. Even though that's not what I was trying to do.
