along with -
• GPS position

The ancient greek "dioptra" was a classical astronomical and surveying instrument, dating from the 3rd century BCE. The dioptra was a sighting tube or, alternatively, a rod with a sight at both ends, attached to a stand. If fitted with protractors, it could be used to measure angles.

I find myself using this more than I expected. It is a great tool for planning astrophotography or photography outings. My only suggestions are 1) font color for the same reasons others have said and 2) better response to the camera button...usually I have to tap it several times before it will take the picture. Definitely recommend.

Is an amazing app with a lot of potential. But it can't do grade percentage, no way to lock the screen to analyze a measurement without saving a photo. The fonts are hard to read against certain backgrounds. It would be a great addition to save each measurement taken as a waypoint in a gpx file in addition to a photo. Without these it's of little use to me for trail planning.

No UTM? No other lat/long formats? No way to manually set declination to a decimal value (only integer values) and no no east/west declination indicator? Reticle too thin and doesn't extend completely across the value scales. This should not have been released at this stage of development.

U70%
by U####:

Using WGS84 coordinates helps verify location and field photos. Sometimes the information like lat long is not legible because the background is white like the text. If there was a way to change that in settings this would be 5 stars!

Pretty good. Except the NW and SE Bearings are not correct. Your code is computing those incorrectly from azimuth. Also, it would be nice to export the photos to kmz.

Perfect for calibrating distance and positioning of stars and other sky anomalies in the night and evening sky! Thanks to my friend Paul for the recommendation and developers for the app! Love it.

The app have gps fix problem i have a lg v10 running android 6.0 and the app does't show the coordinates will give 5 stars if you fix the problem , the app is amazing just minor fix and will be perfect.

I wish the app would let me rotate my phone 180 degrees or even 90 degrees and have the screen adjust because my volume buttons are on the bottom and get in the way of my mount also wish I could record video and do live stream 3 star till then

OK ... I'll take my gripes back, somewhat .... after playing with it for 10 min and actually hitting due north it has corrected it's misfunction and missinformation and now provide accurate azzimuth/bearing info ...... in the beginning the compass values change based on vertical rotation of my phone (Smsng S5)... keeping it in 'camera position' I can move 90' and get a 1' variance ... so for now I'll move it up to 3 stars & we'll see

Checked it sgaunst my variou spirit levels and seems accurate enough for my purposes. My one suggestion for improvement would be the ability to calibrate / offset the built in accelerometers (currently on compass bearings are calibrateable)

No complaints. Good as what one could expect on a phone without using all the expensive, proper gear.

It works as advertised. Only problem is that on my Samsung A5, the focus does not work when using Dioptra.

This is awesome. Since I've become a flat earther, this app is essential for sun and moon Azimuth, bearing and altitude readings. It's really accurate too depending on your phone.

Needs to have setting for reticle and info colors. White is not always good.

Perfect for geo ref photos, no on screen ads!

According to the indicators you cannot turn your tablet vertically

Great app but would be handy if it had a dual location option and also the ability to write text at the top of the screen

It does not auto focus

How do I zero/calibrate the inclinometers? My left side if off a good 5 degrees?

I found here from AngleCam App. You both are good camera applications.

Great tool to have that combines several instruments to use for still photographs.

I use Dioptra often to "characterize" trail segments for slope in order to provide less-than-able people information where to go to enjoy the outdoors. I second all the good enhancements others have suggested and that Nanomics has put on the upgrade list. Please add one more: the white font color is nearly unreadable in normal daylight so making it chrome yellow or similar (or adding font color to the Settings menu) would make the data snap out.

This app is awesome. Only a couple suggestions. 1 - selecting font color because sometimes the background makes it hard to read in winter landscapes. 2 - camera zoom. 3 - an image mark up to so you could draw dimensions on the picture to show clients distances between certain objects without driving to the job site... But this is an amazing app. Good job developer.

Could do with damping control. And to eliminate having to calculate between two points, if this app could lock onto a target and calculate the results as you aim at other targets, showing a small red dot on the first target and a pointer when the dot is no longer on screen would make this app as near perfect as device limitations could allow.

U70%
by U####:

White letters are hard to read when photo background is sky with clouds. It shoild have the options to turn letters and coordinates to black. Better yet the color of coordinates and numbers should automatically change depending on background.

This is perfect for landscape photography! Knowing the elevation (in degrees) of sun- and moonrise is one thing. Know what that actually looks like before hand is another! And, as mentioned elsewhere, it would be nice if we could darken the font color. In daylight, it's unreadable to us old fogies.

Fantastic app. I tried a bunch of others that either didn't work, didn't have the data I wanted, or in most cases, were just ugly. Dioptra has great on-screen info that is beautifully and elegantly displayed. 2 issues: 1. App crashes every 3rd frame I take on MotoG3 2. Tiny camera button is a real pain to try to hit. I wish it could snap with the volume buttons like the native camera does. Or if that's not possible at least a bigger button or touch anywhere on screen. To be fair these 2 issues are quite a pain. But I've given it 5 Stars anyway because it's a great app. As I said, the information display here is so much better than any of the other apps I looked at. I'd love to see these 2 issues resolved, but even as it is, it's fantastic.

I do like this app; however the MGRS datum is incorrect for my location. Can this be changed? Thanks

This app allows me to document vegetation progress over the years for sites that have been reclaimed. I love the features. It is a must have for anyone working in the oil and gas industry.

White writing against a white background is hard to read, suggest the font has a thick black outline for ease of reading text on the photo, or that the writing has a black background behind it.

Hurray, it's been updated since I last used it. Captures the screen information (compass and such) with the image. Very handy app. Could use a way to change text color.
