About GlassWire – Data Usage Privacy

Instantly see which apps are wasting your data, acting suspiciously, slowing your phone’s Internet speed, or causing you to go over your carrier data limits. GlassWire makes it easy to keep track of your mobile carrier data usage and WiFi Internet activity.

Key features:
• See a live graph of what apps are currently using your carrier data, or slowing your Internet connection.
• Instantly know every time a new app accesses the network and begins using your data.
• Go back in time with GlassWire’s graph to see what apps wasted your data earlier in the week or month.
• GlassWire’s data alerts help keep you under your data limit. Get alerted before you reach your carrier data limit to avoid costly overage fees.
• GlassWire reveals unusual network activity from unknown apps or malware that could be violating your privacy or spying on you.
• GlassWire counts your mobile carrier data (Edge, 3G, 4G, 5G, LTE, CDMA, UMTS, GSM, GPRS, mobile hotspots) and shows you detailed usage statistics on GlassWire’s “Usage” screen, along with your WiFi data. See your mobile phone provider data for AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile, Virgin, Vodafone, Orange, EE, 3, Swisscom, Telia, Movistar, O2, and all others.
• See data usage for different apps like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Pokemon Go, Netflix, Youtube, Instagram, Pandora, Spotify, Pinterest, Whatsapp, Skype, Kik, and any other apps you use.

Why did we make GlassWire?
We wanted an easy way to see what Android apps were using all our expensive mobile data, slowing our Internet connection, or behaving suspiciously.
Our company already makes a popular GlassWire application for Windows that helps people protect their PCs from online threats by visualizing their network activity. We wanted a similar network monitoring application for our own Android phones but we were shocked to find a lot of the data usage apps we tested sent quite a bit of data over the network themselves.
We wondered why these apps that claimed to help people stay under their data limits would send network data themselves.

Why do many free “Data Usage” apps use data themselves?
We discovered a lot of these free data usage collection apps exist solely to collect your personal app usage data to sell to advertisers or other app developers. We did not want to use a data usage app that was logging details about every app we use to share it with third parties. In what database was our private app usage data being stored, and what if that database was hacked or made public? To make matters worse, we found that at least one of these applications collected personally identifiable information.

Is your current “Data Usage” app tracking you?
Do you want your phone app usage logged in a database then linked to your identity so others can see details about how you use your phone every day? We didn’t want that either. Check the privacy policy of the data usage app you currently use by going to their Google Play app page “privacy policy”.

GlassWire is a data usage app that helps protect your privacy.
Your GlassWire data usage and app usage information never leaves your phone. We could not see or access your app usage even if we wanted to. Plus, we’re not an advertising or marketing company. We only make money through sales of premium versions of our software.

Awesome superb!

X70%

Very nice application, the GUI looks amazing and it's very polished. Highly recommend it!

A70%
by A####:

The application is really cool! Allows you to see what apps are using the network and consuming your mobile/wifi traffic. The battery usage is not high. I did not notice any "battery draining" notifications or something. The UI is clean and user-friendly. Good app!

L70%
by L####:

I use it on my Nexus 7 tablet and I really love the way how data is visualized! The UI is not overloaded with unnecessary switches and indicators and keeps you focused on things that matter. This is awesome network monitoring tool with lots of space for improvement in terms of adding more and more amazing useful features. Can you please add landscape mode support and ability to monitor my GlassWire for Windows installations? Once done, it will be 6 stars. For now - only 5, sorry :)

V70%
by V####:

We'll done but you guys forgot to include an option to exclude zero-rated or free usage apps. This is an essential option for the users who want to have accurate data records that they can reconcile with their carrier's data info. Otherwise the data info collected will be greater than the actual data being accounted for.

by G####:

So I use the Windows version of this and I expected a higher level of quality. Why is there a persistent notification with no option to remove it? If I remove it through the settings then I don't get alerts? Is it so the app doesn't get killed off? Also booting the user out to the app settings to clear the data and stuff is lazy :p Settings should be within the app, jeez Google provides a method to make a settings menu from XML! And lastly, check out Disconnect Pro, they have somehow got a way of cutting internet per app, this may just be for Samsung devices but heck it'd be popular.

L70%
by L####:

Can't use or start the app because it's not showing me usage access on my custom rom. I don't know if it's a bug on your app or on my rom... Sad I really want to try this.

As a long time user of GW Basic and Free on several Windows 7 and 10 systems, the Android version does not disappoint running A-OK on a 4.4.4 Nexus 7.2 and a 6.0 Moto G3. Each is running licensed Adguard 2.8.76; no tweaking the Apps Management for GW necessary. 1) For a five star review from me, GW needs SD (external storage) support. 2) The Usage up/down data and that circular graphic in the big rectangle can be made smaller - lotta wasted space there. And it never ceases to amaze how many apps connect out for absolutely no reason at all other than self-serving telemetry which is exactly what GlassWire exposes.

T70%
by T####:

Love the look and layout. Needs a "plan" history view (in the same place as 1, 7 and 30 day choices). Also love to see a map feature. A little more info in the pull down notifications bar as well would be nice, like live bandwidth usage upload/download speeds, days remaining on plan etc.

Z70%
by Z####:

Liked it. Just one more thing. Instead of opening the app is it possible that I tap the notification and it Shows the stats as an quick overlay? Also could you please add internet speed in the notification?

X70%
by X####:

I really like this application!!! But t I do have problems with it, on my Samsung Galaxy 7 edge (dual sim) application isn't showing used mobile data, I would love to use full potential of application ... once this problem is solved I will change my raring to 5 stars

X70%
by X####:

Need option to exclude apps. Also the firewall feature that exists on desktop version would be great. Too inaccurate currently, will try it again in a few months.

X70%
by X####:

No sweat- easy to install and use particularly as I use the Windows version. Glasswire tells me a lot about what is happening on my phone and PC. It will be 5 stars when it gets more features on Android.

M70%
by M####:

App is pretty good other than the fact that it shows hundreds of GB of mobile data use by chrome dev only. Ask other apps seem relatively accurate. Odd glitch.

T70%
by T####:

This application is really cool. And I'm using in Windows also. But if you come up with an option to Block the application using Internet

X70%
by X####:

Great data of flow analyzer. I would give it 5 Stars if it would stop giving me constant notifications of the amount of data used. It does this with all notifications and alerts turned off.

B70%
by B####:

Already will be replacing my current Data monitor/tracker. Just wish there was a firewall option (I understand it's being worked on) Overall, pretty good for the first version :D

U70%
by U####:

Could be better if it supported dual SIM card phones, for some reason it only sees the first sim.

T70%
by T####:

Not working properly i was using my mobile for more than 2 hours after installing this app and not showing any usage data

L70%
by L####:

Abysmal impact on battery life, which is a no-go for a mobile app. Otherwise nice app, shame really.

X70%
by X####:

Ive had it installed around 24 hours and in that time the number of apps that have been caught connecting to the net is very concerning. The app has a smooth UI and next to no impact on system resources. The custom data limit alarms are a nice touch. Looking forward to future developments

X70%
by X####:

Great functionallity if you want to keep an eye on your data usage and see what apps are using what. I've been usin Glasswire on my desktop pc for some time now and I'm glad to finally be using their new Android app.

L70%
by L####:

This doesn't seem very accurate. My Verizon app says I am over 3 gigs this month but this app says I've used 1

X70%
by X####:

Using this on a Galaxy Tab 4 7" tablet. I especially like the alerts for network activity, device usage, etc. It is quite an eye-opener to see all the activity going on behind the scenes.

D70%
by D####:

Finally also for mobile. Have been using this for PC since a long time. Great visibility into your network traffic.

X70%
by X####:

No way to clear statistics? Such a basic feature. I have to do it manually by deleting app data in the settings then go through the setup process again. What is this, the year 2010?

M70%
by M####:

seems to be a bug, but the app isn't detecting any data usage. Phone - Moto G⁴ Plus

C70%
by C####:

Please make a bad speed meter to the app like data usage monitor premium.

X70%
by X####:

It is reporting I downloaded 226GB of data over my mobile connection in a period of 3 hours. If that's correct (which it isn't) I'm in for a large bill at the end of the month

J70%
by J####:

Some apps showing weird data usage WhatsApp shows 1gb and systems update shows 2gb of daily data.

H70%

Stopped working on my Moto g4 plus

X70%
by X####:

The best Internet monitoring app. I'm using glass wire windows software since 3 years. & this app need more facilities.data monitoring widget, firewall for apps..like that etc

X70%
by X####:

Why don't app have an option to remove persistent notification? Otherwise a great app. But till that I am uninstalling.

X70%
by X####:

Great app! But the app doesn't let user change the importance of notifications on Android 7.0+

X70%
by X####:

Well informative with UI design that is on point! Well done! Now, if you find a way to get rid of that persistent notification, that'd be appreciated :)

Z70%
by Z####:

Useful app but it will use up battery like no app you've ever seen before.

X70%
by X####:

I can't love this app more. Add-free, eye-candy, feature-rich, free, useful.

X70%
by X####:

A beautiful and incredibly informative app with some very reactive support. I had an issue that was solved within a few hours, five stars for sure.
