About Encryption Manager

Encryption Manager is a file manager, that offers a comfortable and secure way to keep files with confidential data encrypted using AES or Twofish encryption on your storage (internal storage, external SD card, USB storage).

A master password is both used to access the application and to encrypt the encryption keys, that are generated random for each file, that is managed by Encryption Manager. Confidential files are accessible directly after the login. With one click on the file, the file is decrypted to its original location and can be shown by the installed viewer or editor apps. When you are finished working with the decrypted copy, the file is re-encrypted with one click and the decrypted file is wiped from the SD card. This wipe process will overwrite the data with random bytes before the file is deleted. So even if the device is lost or stolen, it is not possible to access your confidential data.

Encrypting new files is very simple: they can be chosen either with the built-in file manager or by simply using "send/share" from another app.

Features:
* Access based on master pin or master text password.
* Encrypts all kind of files.
* Possibility to encrypt all files of a folder.
* Provides a special handling for images, e.g. removal/creation of gallery thumbnail images.
* Base functionality of a file manager (view on click, send/share menu), but with automatic decryption before the action.
* Offers AES and Twofish encryption with 128 and 256 bit keys.
* Displays icons to indicate whether a file is currently decrypted or was changed.
* User setting for automatic re-encryption on exit.
* Secure overwrite of the orginal file after the encryption.
* An additional anti file recovery tool is included.
* Two layout modes: flat list view or hierarchical folder view.
* Filters can be defined to filter SD card files by file extensions or to excluded folders.
* The master password can be changed for an existing database.
* Provides a comfortable backup mechanism for using cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, ...) to save the encrypted files
* The app can be configured to delete all managed files after 7 unsuccessful attempts.
* Has an "Exit" menu on all screens, that finishes the task completely.
* App is locked (master password must be re-entered), when there is no user input for configurable period.
* Includes english help pages.

Languages:
* English
* German
* French
* Russian
* Spanish

Limitations:
* The "lite" version is limited to 5 encrypted files!
* The full version has no limitations.

I have a paid version and it doesn't work on 7.0. They never answer emails for tech support. Worthless App.

Must be used with caution. I just upgraded from Android 4 to 6.0.1 . This caused the root folder to change, under which it finds the Encrypted, external SD-card file. This caused me to lose serval files which I had encrypted to that SD-card. Luckily, they were just testing files. But, other users who don't encrypt to external card, never notice any problem. And I could have lost something important.

U70%
by U####:

Easy to use. Occasionally have to delete a file that was re-encrypted even though I selected "delete file now" Overall, very happy with its performance... Of course I haven't run any black hat tests...

Y70%

Moto G4 Plus keeps crashing even if I close all other apps. Even if I force a stop of the other program that was using the unencrypted file.

Worked well on Android 4. Cannot get to work on Android 5 on SD card. Avoid. Must be American written

UPDATE edit: cannot see external SD card in menu during encryption process on OPPO F1. after encrypt file and delete the files still there does not delete them. need delete manually during testing.

Upon trying to encrypt, this crashes and the phone reboots. Will a fix be provided?

Z70%

This was a very good application. Then they made some changes and when I upgraded I lost several files. I won't trust it again. I'm still using it for the files it hasn't destroyed I'll dump it when I find a replacement.

I tried to encrypt a single file using AES256 that was over 500MB and it hung at 100%. The app crashed shortly after. I refunded immediately because the app is clearly broken.

R70%

It was a great app until I purchased it. Now it may copy and encrypt the file but no matter what, it leaves the original behind. Didn't do that in the free version.

E70%
by E####:

This app can be kind of confusing to use, but it's powerful, feature rich, and its performance has been excellent. Decrypts large videos in not too much time. If you encrypt photos from the gallery that are on your sd card, you may need to go back to the folder and delete the originals manually. Otherwise a restart might do the trick. Keeps your data secure. I'm happy with it. SGS4

Not intuitive. After 20 min failed to encrypt a single file. This isn't the 1st program I have used so either it doesn't work or I'm not smart enough to make it work.

R70%

Don't believe the dev - he has NO idea how many files can be encrypted, despite claiming that the full (paid) version 'has 'no limitations'. Avoid!

R70%

Great app. Interfaces nicely with other apps with file IO. Detailed explanation in Help section. Strong crypto and good design.

U70%

I encrypted a large portion of files in my sd card and when trying to open or unencrypt the file there was "error 20" message for some of the files and the file was gone! Could not get the file back and lost my information, Sent a message to the developers of the app and I am still waiting for their response

I've been using this for quite a while. It is very convenient and pretty easy to use with a short learning curve on the options for encryption, proper exits, etc. If you use it right, it works right. As with any app, there is room for improvement, but in this case, I don't think there's much left to do, except add a space key and a few more punctuation marks and special characters in the alphanumeric keyboard.

T70%

This app is exactly what I was looking for. A manager to almost automatically manage sensitive files on my phone. Also many programs don't sport proper encryption for their databases (K-9 etc.) which is a shame, and this program can be used for this purpose. 5 stars for now.

I've used this for the last 19 months or so. Very easy to use. Instinctive really and gives great peace of mind because if your phone is lost or stolen you know that no one can view your private data like files or photos. Has never failed me and is updated at regular intervals. For the small price involved it is worth it.

Had a question with this app, Emailed developer. received a reply that was both prompt and to the point of my problem. it is not often that a developer replies so quickly, at least that has been my experience. to me, it says that they not only stand behind their product, but that I can be comfortable dealing with them in the future, and that's something I appreciate. The best application of it's type that I have had. After moving from a modern phone to a cheap and cheerful device, I additionally appreciate its small footprint. Can be added to the SD card if chosen to do so. I wish you could star favorite files to save searching through the paths, however, encryption is 256 bit so this makes up for it.

on my SGII if I press the home key whilst its "Securing" an encrypted file. The file becomes secured, but the unencrypted version remains. Also not the most stable app in the world. Not worth the money.

I tried the "lite" version to see if I liked it (which is the "lite" version's intent) and I did, so I purchased it. One thing I have noticed different with the "full" version is that upon closing the Encryption manager "window" (not using exit from the menu) the files are still accessible through the app without having to re-enter the password. I have found that I must "exit" through the menu in order for the password protection to be reactivated...it wasn't this way on the "lite" version. This allows you to make a mistake of not "exiting" and leaving your files accessible and making you take a couple extra steps to re-secure your files. I've tried changing all the settings but to no avail and apparently the "email the developer" link in this market is DEAD.....can't email them.

Very functional,good interface and working well on my Samsung Galaxy S2. I had several correspondences with the developer (Hans Schuell) discussing the encryption methodology he uses with this app. Hans knows his stuff and was very patient with all my questions and took the effort to explain everything clearly and in-depth. Incidentally, there is a very detailed Help file you can access in the app that is well-written, useful and informative. Just upgraded to his latest version 2.4.
