About DLNA Player

---------------------------------------------------

DLNA is a standard to facilitate access to multimedia content between devices connected within the same computer network.
For more information about DLNA, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Living_Network_Alliance.

Ginkgo DLNA / uPnP Player acts as Media Player or Media Controller, allows you to find media from
Media Servers (Windows PC, NAS with DNLA server installed, etc.) in your home network, and play to
Media Renderer(network player, smart TV, etc.) or locally on your android device.

================
Main features:
================
[Zero configuration]: Thanks to DLNA, compatible devices are discovered automatically. No configuration is needed.

[Library browsing] : User friendly UI to browse you media library with deep structure.

[Favorites] : Supports favorites folders and medias, allows finding frequently played medias quickly.

[History] : Recently played medias are kept in history.

[Play to remote renderer]: Used as remote control for your renderer, plays media to Media Renderer.

[Play music on phone] : Built-in audio renderer based on Android media facilities, commonly supported audio
format include .mp3.mp4 .mpa .flac .ogg. .mkv .wav. 3gp.
(For more details : http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html)

[Built-in image viewer] : Built-in image viewer with zoomer to visualize your photos.

[Play with external app] :
video medias are forwarded to other player installed on your phone. (e.g. "MX Player", “VPlayer” )

================
Known DLNA issue
================
[Media formats]: Media Renderers may support from extensive to limited media formats. Take this into
consideration when choosing your media renderer. Media servers supporting “transcoding” could be a solution
if the renderer supports limited formats.

[Not supported operations]: Some Media Renderers have limited support of DLNA operations. Common issues include :
1. SEEK, PAUSE, SET VOLUMN not supported.
2.No finish signal sent when current track ended(So no continue play support by Ginkgo DLNA player).

[Media information] : DLNA allows Media Servers providing optional information for medias. This include
encoding, size/duration artist, album, album art, etc. Most media servers do a good job, but some do just the
minimum. Consider changing media server if you want more media information.

[Protocol Message Error ]: DLNA compatible devices communicate each other by protocol messages. Some
media servers may send sometimes malformed messages that cannot be properly handled be others. This may
lead to loss of information or application crash.

A great and simple app but with one annoying flaw. When you drill down into sub-folders then hit the back button the list is displayed from the top. It should remember where you were in the list and display from there. Very annoying working with long lists. Otherwise 5 stars.

Having some other app play a movie is hopeless. You cant ff, later you cant resume where you stopped.

Q70%
by Q####:

Dlna content isn't cached, so every time you switch away to another part of the app and then back to the library it completely reloads everything. It also locks up the app when loading.

Perfect control of my denon dlna amp from my kody server. Just a start left for feature request : download song to the android device for offline playback ;)

I use this app to access my Silicondust HomerunPrime "m" card from Comcast. Quick way to view all non-DRM channels. VLC player is a good video player to use with this. Would like to see last channel button and a hide/show scrolling list of channels to access while video is playing where you can select to change channel immediately would make this app nearly perfect. Also, remember last source position so you don't have to scroll back.

Found my NAS library and plays it to all my dlna devices: TV, AV Receiver and phone. Plays many formats especially, for me, wma and wav.

I like the layout. However it does tend to freeze a lot. Where is the "Shuffle" button? My interface only has "Last track", "Play", "Stop', and "Next track", and then the Loop button

Updated. I thought this was the best one that I have tried, and I have now tried to perform DLNA playing using 5 apps. GUI is striking but needs more function. I would like to view the song list (while a tune is playing), select from more than just playlists such as albums, genre etc. A good start, with more to follow I hope. Also, not easy to select random play of a playlist. It has problems with several tunes, stating it cannot read the format. All tunes are mp3, and have never had a problem playing from internal memory or usb. Once a tune cannot be played, it stops playing entirely.

Performs as advertised. Very simple and easy to use. Only drawback is inability to delete old servers that won't be connected again. Since new servers are detected and added automatically when connected to wifi, the server list can quickly get crowded. That being said, it is a beta product. This minor issue is far out-shadowed by the app's usefulness, design, and ease of use. Hopeful this suggestion will be added in a future release. If so, I'll be back to change this to 5 stars.

Work really nicely and lightweight. Although it crash when first trying to play video (after that it works normally). Doesn't display the actual file name in the player(ex: "TV episode 01" will only be shown as "file").

Easy to use and works quite well! My only complaint is the music pauses with any notification. I would like a setting where I can adjust that. I have only used it for music. It found my DLNA server and gave me access to all my music.
