Ghostery Privacy Browser

Love this - great size, minimalist, and efficient. Having different search engines is really useful. It had a tendancy to bring up mainly USA related stuff initially but then settled down, and now I get very little from Trumpville. One reviewer said it runs off the SD card but it doesn't on my phone so not sure if that's an issue. Would love it if it did so perhaps someone can tell me how?

I've been looking for a more private way to use my phone and this is it. Fast and secure. I've noticed it drains the battery faster than Chrome, however, so I suspect it must be fairly processor intensive. It would also be nice if there was a way to hold down links and open them in relevant apps such as YouTube, Play Store etc like you can do in Firefox.

Thank you for making this app! Webpages load nice and fast. The UI is basic but familiar. The best part of this app by far though is the ability to block all trackers. You truly have no idea how closely corporate giants like Google are monitoring your every move until you see it for real. Take back at least a little of your privacy with Ghostery.

I'm a huge, huge fan of the Ghostery Firefox plugin, but have only just discovered this mobile browser. It seems good so far, but there's one thing I'm really missing that will probably stop me using it in meantime: I'd really like the font size options to have a greater range of settings, perhaps be more like a slider rather than a drop down list of the current 4-5 options. Because unfortunately for me "Normal" is too small to be comfortable but "Large" is much too big. (I believe Chrome provides a slider)

I don't normally write reviews for apps, but this one is an extremely deserving exception. This app not only ticks all the privacy boxes (proven with actual testing) but it also loads pages way faster than any other browser I've used! Definitely my go-to browser from now on :D

It seems to run great on my Priv vs Firefox. It's just missing a way to export your bookmarks and importing from other than chrome. Maybe some add ons to block ads. Notice sometimes pages get frozen and I have to tap address bar then blank screen to get refresh button to appear

I have been using the ghostery add in for years in my PC and love it so when I saw their Android browser I tried it right away. I didn't notice any real speed difference between it and chrome but would have used it anyway just because of the blocking. My only problem, and for me it's a deal breaker, is where is the home button? Add that and I'll be back.

Efficient browser, but description is misleading. It claims to block trackers (we'll just take their word for it) but you have to select "opt out" setting to keep IT from tracking you. Also, it still maintains browsing history. (Tracking). Today I loaded it onto a new phone, and it promptly opened the tabs that were open on my dead phone (remote save). User beware! It is NOT private (Incognito window!?). It likely does block your usage stats from being sent to websites as claimed. Nice, simple, fast, lightweight browser! Excellent reasons to use this app!

I'm liking this browser, has been fine with everything I've needed it to be so far... EXCEPT... I cant download anything, it just doesn't work. I'm not sure if it's just me missing something or whether the browser just won't allow the action? If I have to keep switching browsers to download I'll change to something else or back to Chrome but besides this issue seems good.

If this worked smoothly with every site I visited, this would be the only browser I ever would use. It cleans your cache on exit if wanted which most browsers do but can't play videos in some pages eg BBC news pages. If this is not a deal breaker for you then I will recommend it.

I've refused to have a g+ profile for many years, until today, but this browser has earned my respect, trust & admiration for speed/functionality/privacy and respect for me as a user, so much so that I created g+ profile just to rate Ghostery 5 stars! And that is a BIG compliment from me! The browser just ended my mobile internet headaches after years of searching!! Bravo.

I really love how well this blocks ads, keeps trackers listed, and generally keeps my browsing experience enjoyable. However, it does have some random issues. Will crash on occasion for no reason, and sometimes the screen will go black and no longer render pages other than the address bar forcing me to close the app.

I have tried about 20 this kind of app. I finally choose this to replace my Chrome mobile. It is small in size. You can move it to SD card and function stable. It is well embedded in my Android 4.2 OS. As I always prefer a desktop display,web page and online video are viewed with satisfication. However, I find no way to preset my front page to be displayed. I give 2 thumbs up overall.

Tab management could be implemented better, default chromium would be better then the current, Firefox lookalike would be great. I love the auto pause & resume in full screen for videos. But shame the video & audio keep going out of sync 95% of the time. Same on the Firefox extension too (Android). No issues on desktop Firefox extension, 5* there.

I am surprised that it is rated 4.1. Firefox and Chrome should take notice. I found Firefox clumsy and hate the auto bookmark on the web page. And Chrome you have go to their web site not be tracked, and I still don't trust that browser. Google search as well as Chrome still collects data, and you manually have to delete your searches.

Typically works significantly faster in my experience then Chrome. There are some issues at times with making purchases within the browser, but that is understandable as it may be blocking some functionality. My biggest gripe is that when trying to launch a link or anything that would typically open in an App (like Instagram, YouTube, or Twitter for example) it does not have that option to open in the App, and some links that are App specific just fail. Another minor annoyance is that when you have multiple tabs open the order of the tabs seems to change, I haven't been able to figure out why, but they do not appear to be chronological as I would expect. Otherwise it renders pages great and brings them up quickly.

The browser freezes up all the time. I hated that opening a new tab automatically is put to the forefront (instead of letting me stay on my current tab). And why do you need to have an option to open the link when you press longer? If I want to open a page on my current tab I would give it a tap instead of pressing on it. Its slow and occasionally didn't register that my WiFi was on. Too much hassle.

I hate that there are 1. never any updates, 2. crashes a lot and 3. it prevents my Samsung Note 4 stylus cut and paste OCR feature from working inside it. Often videos don't play when they work fine in other browsers. This browser is totally USELESS.

This app hasn't been update for a year! Which is ridiculous. Some website image failed to load even when I pause bloacking. Long press on an image can't open it's link on a new tab, which is stupid. I thought its a must have function? Guys, stop being lazy and update the app, please!

This browser is perfect!! No issues whatsoever. It loads swiftly, the interface is clean and simple. I love the fact it has a section to keep track of trackers and gives you information on each tracker. I do not have Facebook, nor was I on a website with anything to do with Facebook however Ghostery informed me that Facebook is tracking me. Ghostery also realises which tracker is normal and which is not and blocks accordingly. I absolutely love that you can also browse the Web in Ghost mode!! 5 stars!!

Chrome is a disaster, Firefox is laughably bad, Asus browser is just silly (you see the bookmarks? Yikes) Ghostery actually works properly and blocks some ads. Chrome is so bad it allows ads to take over your device and force open the Play store. Get this browser!

Still needs work. Claims it fixed a bunch of bugs but still freezes in about 30 minutes of use to an hour and a half. True there is no ad's but not really useful when it mainly crashes. In my most humble opinion, go for this only for short term use. Also if it freezes, you need to close the app in odder for it to unfreeze. I've stated this many times when it crashed on me but to no avail, they did nothing about it.

Faster than all the other browsers on this platform and I have been using chrome and Firefox for about 5 years but now they run extremely slow on HTC M8 with ram at 72% everytime I use it even after clearing cache. This browser works how my phone used to be prior to Marshmallow update and has additional privacy features that the others do not. Can not recommend enough, keep it up!

One if the options is to close active tabs upon closing the browser. Unfortunately every user will close using the back key or button. This DOES NOT close the app and thus tabs are not closed. Closing the app can only be done by going to the menu and choosing exit. Fix this and the browser is perfect. Also, when a bug is found they fix it very quickly. Got them an extra star.

Just found this browser and installed it and it works great! I've spent alot of time trying to find a browser that didn't need every permission under the sun to run on my phone, this browser is perfect! Thanks to all who made it possible to have this app. I truely think it's awsome!!

Breaks every webpage. Use ghostery on PC no probs but this browser causes issues with every site I visit. I even tried disabling the privacy features, enabling java, etc. and nothing I do will get pages to fully load. Privacy is def important but I need a browser that actually works.

This WAS an amazing app but now it just crash after crash when trying to copy text, paste text into a search engine, save a picture, anything that isn't just scrolling from page to page. Crash report after crash report and nothing being fixed. Will be removing it as soon as I can find a replacement. I am very disappointed.

Thank you for this great browser! It's very useful to block things, those try to collect info about you. But I rated this app by 4 for a few disadvantages i've found about it. It's all about its settings flexibility: it automatically opens links in new tabs with no choose, it doesn't hide adress bar when I'm scrolling pages down, and the main thing - it has no ability to set up proxy! Please, fix these things, and this browser would be the best of all i known!

Fairly decent UI. The browser was fast enough. Until while pages are loading they randomly get stuck at 25%. I thought this was my browser, so I pulled another browser and they worked fine. So after googling the issue, I found a article they actually collect the data they block from the sites you visit and of course sell it. Stay far away. There is a many other products that offer the same thing.

It's fast and blocks a lot of junk pop-ups and trackers. My only issue is when I want to save an image I have searched for. When I long press the image, it pops up and allows me to save the image, but where is it putting my saved images? They're not in my photo gallery. Where are they???

Broken!!!! Originally worked very well revealing trackers and functioning fast. Now it's very slow but the main issue is that it fails to load a large number of pages to the point where ive been forced to return to chrome until this is taken care of

Looks good you can only choose a few search engine you don't seem to be able to add startpage for everything, but it has duckduckgo so that's a bonus. I couldn't import bookmarks or find a way of doing it. Looking forward to testing it some more.

I love the browser. Use it all the time, but for some reason it has burned the image of the things in the upper right corner into my screen. Not sure why. May be my screen, but it's a Samsung Galaxy s7 I would think the screen would be advanced. Who knows. Love the browser though.

Doesn't show videos on a web page, I guess it thinks it's a AD? CAN U FIX THIS? Great App!!!!!!!

This browser disappointed me because some Web site pages can't easily load although they are correct.

Hi this is great but I find tabs are staying open even though they're set to close and keep ending up with a doze tabs and having to close them please fix

The latest update made it so every time the app is cold started a progress dialog shows up for an undetermined amount of time. This slows everything down and makes me not want to use the browser at all.

Only one gripe - would like text reflow / word wrap. But 5 stars anyway!

This version crashes constantly. I've tried everything I can. And now the same on my new cheap tablet, 1.3.3 on Android 5.1.1.

This browser takes away ads and popups and prevents tracking by websites. Best of all, it uses chrome's browsing technology.
