I would give this a 5, but i have 2 issues that take 2 stars away. 1. When i rename a file it no longer appears on my hard drive when i try to view it on a separate device (tv). I rename it before I add it to hard drive. Doesnt work. I add one to hard drive. Check it and it works fine, but then rename it and suddenly it no longer shows. It shows that it is their on on the app, but not on the tv. 2. I try to re-sort my files by date added. They are re-soeted on app. Plug hard drive into tv and they are still in alphabetical order. No matter what i sort them as they always show in alphabetical order on any other device.

Love it! It's fast and available plug-ins let me access my Windows LAN, FTP server, and most cloud services (DropBox being the notable exception, and a plug-in for that is in beta). This has displaced ES as my file manager of choice.

by Y####:

Love this app giving file power back to the user! Not needlessly trying to protect us from our selves or crappy baby interfaces this is awesome thank you. By the way this is the best review I have given an app! I am not easy to please ;)

Y70%
by Y####:

Just like the color of this beautiful application. I haven't seen much yet but I hope there is more in it. Like (X-Plore) that one was highly created by art design. I don't know how to explain but the App X-Plore, is the best so far in terms of decoration and display. Can you create one like (X-Plore?

Very good, there is only one file manager I have found that can and work with a thumb stick plugged into the USB socket - File Commander! None of the others even see the thumb stick, let alone work with it! Total Box for Dropbox used to work, hope Ghisler gets it sorted soon!

E70%
by E####:

The interface is extremely quirky, hard to use and just not even remotely intuitive. What do those buttons mean? How do you do something simple like rename a file? Found it so awkward to use that have deleted it. There are far better apps than this piece of rubbish.

Y70%
by Y####:

You know the oldskOOl Total Commander? Well, this is it and it does what you expect from it and more. The level of ad-infestation is low. Skip the other hyped filemanagers I tried them all and they are not worth it especially ES. Android sucks, no reason to make life harder...

Y70%
by Y####:

I wanted to use it to transfer files to lan for backup. Lan plug in installed but not visible for transfers. Workarounds on Web involve ftp & tc for pc. Icons' meaning obscure. Too hard for basic operation.

Y70%
by Y####:

if other file managers are of ios this is of Android. never thought there'll be a file manager this customizable and have these many features. this one takes u one step closer to getting rid of computer

Z70%
by Z####:

I was searching for the best file manager and suddenly found this app. Didn't had any expectations because it looks too simple but when I tried it. I will never use other full of ads file managers and this will be my best and only favorite file manager!

Y70%
by Y####:

I opened this file manager while I was bored and trying new apps...it pretty much won me over as my go-to file manager. Easy, beautiful gui, smooth and does everything I need. I haven't tried every similar manager but I have used, regularly, most of the higher rated and from the short time I've used this one I can uninstall 4 of the 7 I have. Running Renovate Ice 7.2 on S8 Exynos.

H70%
by H####:

It's not straight forward. I've no idea how to easly move files from internal storage onto sd. I've no time for this. It looks nothing like screenshots. Am i missing something?

Y70%
by Y####:

Great, powerful app but fails at the exact task I need it to do. I cannot seem to copy directly from a USB drive to an SFTP directory, I get an IO error that disappears too fast to capture. Would love a bug fix!

Q70%
by Q####:

I have used TC since my first PC back in the 90's, and I love it! I have just one little "complain" - you late with android 7 support, I use custom ROM's and I was left without my fully functional life time companion TC for more than 6 months. Good job with the latest update, keep the good work! Old school nerd's like I know how important your file manager is. ????????

Y70%
by Y####:

This is the second time i download this, now using my WD element hard drive. Yes it opens the file but, i try to transfer the file it pr0cess only up to 50% then it went back to the menu... (is it because im on trial mode for FTS?) id love to buy thr FTS fet. But im worried that i might not able to transfer file from hard drive to my phone then it will be useless. Thnks if youre goung to reply.

Y70%
by Y####:

simple, lightweight, support absolute path(for rooted device). Nonetheless, it may have problem opening files with specific extension(I tried to open Mp4 file with Firefox but didn't work)

Y70%
by Y####:

An excellent file manager app for two reasons. First, it's totally reminiscent of the old Norton Commander for DOS; and second, ES File Manager has become a little bloated, and its overlay can be a little bit annoying, especially when it pops up when you never called for it.

I70%
by I####:

Cannot open USB files! Sorry, but each time I try to open a file from the usb sticks I get an error. Tis does not happen with EZ file manager.... Fix this and you will get 5 stars!

Y70%
by Y####:

Must say, been a long time supporter and user of total commander on windows, but this version is just badly designed and non intuitive. However power user should be happy, don't think there is something you can't do with tc.

Y70%
by Y####:

Simply didn't work. File transfer failed, deleting files failed, wifi/LAN didn't function; I can't reccommend this to anyone.

H70%
by H####:

Sometimes file names are read incorrect (with ? In a middle of their names), and any operations with them are impossible. Other managers work fine with these files (and names are correct). Fix it please.

I70%
by I####:

Interface is confusing. Can't see how to copy and paste. Shouldn't require learning a completely different, and time consuming, process. Wasted money on the exFat-NTFS app to recognize my external hard drive.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is the 3rd or 4th device on which I have installed TC. Enough said. The interface isn't very " user friendly" for some people. But it's very familiar for me.

Y70%
by Y####:

Only problem I find is with the ntfs support. It has really slow access. If your watching movie and skip forward it takes about 30 seconds to load. Doesn't do that when using fat32

T70%
by T####:

A little clunky but since I can still operate from a command line, just fine (lol). Does exactly what I want and need. Kudos

Y70%
by Y####:

Ignores its own configurations. I can't set it to exit via long press. Not very reassuring.

Y70%
by Y####:

Great app. Just a heads up: i can't acess an usb otg device, it gives a toast saying "permission denial [...] Requires permission MANAGE_DOCUMENTS").

M70%
by M####:

I wasn't able to use it. Error message about turning off overlays. Phone would not allow the needed changes to settings. Galaxy S5.

I70%
by I####:

I must say, this is the best file manager I've ever used. Never used the computer version though. My only complain would be the ease of use. It's alright, but I think it can be easier to use with a couple of tweaks here and there.

U70%
by U####:

Don't look any further! Total Commander is as old and stable as MS-DOS. It was released before Windows 3.11 as graphical interface for MS-DOS. The best there is and for sure, for ever will be. Not to mention, no add's, no suspicious' permissions and it's save like 1989 was❤????

Y70%
by Y####:

I've been using the PC version for over 20 years now (I work in IT and it's the first app I install on any new device). It does exactly what it suppose to do. For those finding it too "cryptic" I strongly suggest spending a little time with the online help. For me, it's the best file manager out there.

Y70%
by Y####:

Current favorite file manager. Don't forget to install the handy LAN plug-in.

N70%
by N####:

Best file manager so far. Seamless SD card use (regardless of the hardware/firmware I have used it on), great intents management and superb exception handling. Not that intuitive, but easy to learn/adapt to. And no ad to be seen ;-)

H70%
by H####:

Program quality defined by its ability to handle unexpected situations. This program prefer to silently bypass any problem instead of give me any info about it. Bad.

Y70%
by Y####:

I was able to use this app with my Redmi 3S Prime but with my new Redmi Note 4, whenever I try to transfer video file to my harddrive using OTG, it shows ERROR READING... I cannot transfer any files though I am able to do some editing in the harddrive files. Any resolution please!!!!

Y70%
by Y####:

No nonsense file mngr and root explorer. It has all the features that i need and none of the limitations that i've experienced with ES file explorer. I've stuck with this one ever since.

"She may not look like much, kid, but she's got it where it counts." So says Han Solo of his beloved ship, and that description applies just as well to Total Commander. There are flashier file managers, but few of them offer the intuitiveness and functionality of Total Commander. The minimal interface just works and stays out of your way so you can get stuff done, and plugins allow you to seamlessly access cloud services like Dropbox. Best of all, it's free! What more could you ask for?

V70%
by V####:

Great app. My only complaint is that I'm unable to move files to a target folder unless the folder has at least one file already in it.

Y70%
by Y####:

I can't express in one written review how much you guys NAILED it. This app combined all I can possibly expect in a file manager and possibly more. Particularly fond of the "custom association" option. Continue like that, you're awesome.
