About GedStar Pro Genealogy Viewer
GedStar Pro (now totally FREE!) works with a genealogy program on your PC to show all the details of your family history. Converts directly from "The Master Genealogist" and "Legacy Family Tree", or from a GEDCOM file. Displays all your data including events, notes, sources, repositories, and photos. Some product-specific features are also available, such as the research log or to-do list.
There are four basic views: Personal Details; Family Group; Ancestor Tree; and Descendant Tree. There are several ways to navigate up and down a line of descent, and to search for specific people. An extensive menu of other features is available, such as for viewing your complete family photo gallery. Includes the "On This Day" widget as part of the GedStar Pro app with the new name "GedStar Today".
This app requires the use of a free Windows conversion program, which is available from our website. A sample database is included with the Android app so you can explore the user interface without having to convert your own data.
The database is stored on your device's internal memory and there are no limits on the number of people or amount of other data. It has been tested on a database of over 40,000 individuals.

Love how I can export my database to Dropbox then go to my phone and see it all. Great for family reunions. Find someone to update, export to Evernote and edit. Then it is available when I get back to my desk. Selected export by clicking on file then Android asked if I wanted to open with gedstar.

Copied my GEDCOM files to program directory. Program ONLY let's me view sample file and it won't let me delete the sample either. My data is a family tree export to GEDCOM. If it's necessary to use their paid app just to export files to read then in this app, then I'm very dissatisfied.

The option to select my file doesn't work. Deleting sample file doesn't work. Tapping Help menu flashes fast when not online. Uninstalling

If you have done family research using a PC program, this program will convert your gedcom file to a format which can be read on your phone or tablet. I can now view all 7430 people records I've researched. If you have not done family research, you shouldn't be leaving a bad review. This app is ingenius!

Can't find any way to make it find my gedstar data Base. Update: found my data file using file Explorer. Clicked on it and app opened with data displayed. Now opens properly but shouldn't have had to do this. Not sure if it will continue to work after next data update

I'm pleased to be able to see on my Android tablet such a complete version of my TMG files, including sources.

Using the full version for some years now on my Acer tablet, no problems with file tranfers, the user layout looks great to. This program is family tree viewer not builder, great for showing research to aunt Mabel, if you want a builder there are other apps, as for paying for the full version, well worth it, support is first class to from the developer if needed.

Been using it for years, but now every time it updates I need to re-import my data. And that's a multi-step process, first generating a GED from a REAL program, then use their paid program to convert the GED to their special format, transfer it, and finally load it. You also need to do this for every change in your tree - very inconvenient!
