OurHome – Chores and Rewards for Android
Awesome app! This app has saved so much whining and complaining from my child. She just does her chores, swipes the task when she's done, and reaps the reward. It also teaches her how to manage a "budget" of points and make wise decisions on how to spend the points that she's earned.
We've been using the app to get myself and my husband into a routine of chores. I like the app you've pretty much thought of every possible variation for adding a task. But one thing my husband keeps complaining about is not being able to customise the notification tone to the app.
Could use a lot of improvement. Difficult to create tasks, both on the app and on the website. Can't get tasks to repeat certain ways (like the first Monday of every month). I can't edit tasks once I create them, I ended up deleting all my tasks and recreating them because it was easier. I absolutely cannot get the orange notification number on the app icon to clear, no matter what I do. Has a lot of potential, though.
When someone completes a recurring chore, there appears to be no change to the listing. It should be crossed out until next re-occurrence but it isn't even apparent the chore has been completed. MAJOR flaw for an otherwise great app. I will change this review if this is added..
Works great for my children. I no longer feel like I have to micromanage them. Just wish I could schedule things for every other week.
It was great, but latest update causes screen autorotation fails on tablets so it's always upside down and unusable on our tablet in the kitchen specifically for ourhome. Unfortunately going to have to look at alternatives
Great app. Has helped us keep much more organized in our house. I wish there was a way to postpone, a timed chore. Some chores you can skip, but that will skip it to the next week or month (whatever your time interval is). Others you can not skip at all because there is a penalty assigned. But sometimes I would like to be able to move a due date for a chore, or postpone it for a day or two without penalizing the person needing to do the chore. Maybe the chore does not need to be done yet, or because other activities the parents feel there is too much on a child's plate that afternoon. Thanks.
I love this app, but my only problem so far is . I can't go back to the day before to add points. For example yesterday was a busy day. So today I got on to add yesterday's points and it wouldn't let me, instead it did today's , even though I went to the calendar and clicked on yesterday's.
No more excuses about "I didn't see the chore list." It's right on their phones, which are never out of reach. Racking up points that can be exchanged for money makes it a lot more fun (and a bit competitive). I love not having to nag about responsibilities. Thank you!
Wonderful app. Great and responsive Dev Team. Not something you see these days very often. I love that it helps to keep the grocery list shared and updated. Same with events /calendars. Cannot wait for the kids to be older. Will be using this for chores!
Such an easy to use app, my hisband and I are really enjoying it. Makes doing chores so simple. I love that you can set reminders like changing the air filter or getting the dogs nails trimmed. Reward system isn't really being utilized, but once our son gets older, I am sure it will be useful!
Some improvements needed but a cracking app! When pressing "back" button, please make it go to the last page and not close the app
This app isn't just for families with kids or couples; I use it to keep myself on track with keeping my apartment clean. Between full time college and a part time job, it helps to have a personal and interactive checklist of chores, that when completed, I can reward myself for!
This a great app! Exactly what I was looking for to help manage recurring tasks around the home. And totally free.
Fantastic! Would love if there were a time limit or a time due for each task, but overall fantastic!
Good app, helps getting organized. However it takes some time to load - Reply to your comment: I didn't see any improvement after the update :(
Really like this app. Would be great if I could set rewards for points attached to specific categories. Eg. 5 school points = wii time
Great app for organising the home and incentvising jobs around the house
I don't want to enter that much personal information. I just want to keep track of chores. Why do you need my email?
Still playing around with the features, but adults and kids love it!
Very motivational and gets you starting with the day in a positive way.
Makes keeping track of points, chores and behavior easy.
Love the app.
Great for organizing
Love it
Very very good app. Definitely made by parents. 2 issues so far. 1 even after approving a task completion if you delete the post in the Family feed it will delete the points earns. Kids not too happy to see their results dissappear after thinking I should clean up the family feed. 2 would be nice for kids to add comments to their task completion. Also would be nice to have parents only items that only admins see. You have to restrict almost everything so kids dont see parents rewards or tasks.
I absolutely love this app, It's really helped motivated me to get chores done on a daily basis. My only suggestion would be if it was possible to see tasks on the calendar without having to click each day. I could then see on one page what needs done for the week and shuffle things about based on the time I'll have. My shifts change every week so my weekly tasks aren't always done on the same days it just depends what time I have.
My kid likes the reminders and I like how you can sent messages through the app. Some of the completed menu's can be worked out to be a bit easier to go through. I would like to have a not completed option added so I can track the tasks that were not completed in the history. Maybe an administrator section to note that or have a way to unchecked an item and take away Points for my kid not completing something on his to-do list.
This app is really awesome. My favorite feature is that it connects everyone. The only downfall I have with it is my husband will add stuff to the list and quit a few times it doesn't update on my end. This app is helping our son learn responsibility. He loves clicking on here and finding out how many points he has or what he still needs to accomplish for the day.
This is just what my family needed. My 3 daughters a were messy!!!! With this they are keeping the house clean, being nice to one another and doing more activites. They have earn points to get on their devices or even get juice and snacks. Thank you for answering my prayer God and giving someone the know how to create this app. Love it!
This is a great tool for busy roommates. I chose this app because I saw kids using it, so the interface had to be easy to learn and use. I was right!!! Our home (no pun intended) is the cleanest it has ever been! I spent a few hours setting up the "back end" and my roommates were completing tasks minutes later! It's very fair with the rotating tasks. And the points make it fun for us adults (over 32 years old)! Recommended!!!
I love this app! I use it in a non conventional way, in order to motivate me to study. I have daily tasks such as "read 50 min.". Then I reward myself with TV time or drinking wine. It keeps me under control. I do my studies first, then something fun later. It also motivates me and my boyfriend to clean, cook, and exercise, because we have specific daily tasks set for that. There is one criticism. There is no function to edit and move the task categories left or right after they are selected. Bummer.
I love this app! It is exactly what I was searching for to help organize my kids' chores. I left a previous 4 star review because of an issue with the android OS and not the app. The developer replied to my review with the fix. Never have I experienced app support like that, so 5 stars there as well :)
Love this app. Only two issues that I've seen. 1, notifications are not working right, and 2, when you delete a task it would be nice if it asked whether or not to remove the points. I had kids creating their own tasks before I figured out how to restrict it and then had to fix points. Might be good to have this ability disabled by default instead of enabled by default.
Have had this app for a little over week and so far it is fantastic! Both my boys love seeing how many points they are racking up and my oldest has even started taking over more of the house work to earn more points! The graphics are really good too and it's very simple to use. I highly recommend it if you have kids who are a little reluctant to doing some house work!
If there is a better app to help families with children of all ages get organized and motivated (that is also free and has no ads) I would be interested to see it. We are a mixed device family but it does not matter as the app is device agnostic and it's also beautifully designed. We have been using OurHome for over a year now with success after trying many other tech and non-tech mediums to motivate our kids to work...
This is working really well in our house, just to keep on top of things. However, I have no idea how the category section of adding a task works. When you change the category, all pre created tasks move to that category. Am I missing something? Any explanation would be great.
This app is amazing! Set up was a little bit of trial and error but now that we have that figured out it runs itself. Our kids are competing for points and doing their tasks without any interaction from us. Things that normally would have induced groans just get done! My kids are 9 and 10. Perfect age for this really well designed app. Thanks!
Finally, my kids are inspired! My wife is disabled, so I pretty much have to do everything. We have an 11 year old and 15 year old in the house that honestly do nothing. Don't get me wrong, if I ask them to help me with this or that, they'll help. Now with OurHome, the dishwasher gets emptied without asking. Sweeping their bedrooms, changing their sheets, etc. just get done. No fighting. No stress. I even put MY tasks on there. Last weekend the kitchen and dining room floor were swept and mopped. Which was great because it took several hours to replace the alternator in the car. I've also added rewards for A's and B's on tests. They can send me a screenshot of their grades for the week and collect points for having ALL their homework turned in.

Only complaint so far is that I can't prioritize tasks the way that I want, only by alphabetical, points, due date, etc. I think app would be better if I could just move/slide the tasks to what ever order I want. The app has been very motivating for my kids and the calendar and shared grocery list has been great for my husband and I. Hoping the excitement of the app doesn't wear off for my kids, and that I can get my husband to do tasks too!
