About Kruger National Park FieldApp.
Kruger National Park field guide of animals, some birds, trees, wildflowers, insects and reptiles. The objective of this app is to enable the user to identify an animal, bird or plant, to provide some general information about species and to create general biodiversity awareness.
Basic identification is aided with a photo index. Tap on a photo to read more information about the specific species, optionally you can add it to your checklist which is also used to calculate your wildlife experience index which is a measure of your “sightings success” for the day.
This app is for users who have basic knowledge of the animals, birds, plants found in the Kruger National Park, and focus mainly on the bold and beautiful, easy identifiable wildlife.
Features in this app, not to be found in any other app or field guide:
Identification is aided by:
1. a “Location aware field guide” – click on the location aware field guide button, which require your GPS, to recompile the field guide for your current location! This eliminates species which are not known to occur at your current location, leaving you only with the known possibilities for identification.
2. an unique “identification calculator”. The ID calculator allows a user for example to select for a flower with red and white, which will return all flowers with red and white. Furthermore a user can filter for birds or flowers which are known to flower or would be present in a given area for a given month, thereby excluding non-flowering plants and migratory birds. Various other options are available.
3. Content is divided in different categories (e.g. Social structure, Activities) to help you to add value to your observations.
4. Only app having a variety of animals, birds, plants, insects etc.
Other features:
1. 368 Photos
2. Work completely offline – no connection required.
3. Introducing some dangerous animals and poisonous plant information.
4. Our unique wildlife “Experience index”
5. Check listing.
6. Check listing can now also be done per road or any other custom defined place like you favourite waterhole or pic-nick spot.
7. Reset your checklist
8. Image filtering: for example if you would like to identify a plant by its fruit, you have the option to filter all the fruit/pod images.
