About SafeNet MobilePASS+

SafeNet MobilePASS+ is a next generation software token that offers secure one-time passcode generation on mobile devices, as well as single-tap push authentication for enhanced user convenience.
Integrating out-of-the-box with leading cloud apps, security gateways and VPNs, SafeNet MobilePASS+ features set-and-forget lifecycle administration, making it ideal for extending secure access to consultants, partners and a dispersed workforce.

For users, SafeNet MobilePASS+ offers a frictionless experience thanks to easy QR code activation, optional biometric PIN and a choice of standard OTP and push authentication modes. In push mode, whenever a protected resource is accessed, a push notification is automatically sent to the user’s device. The user opens MobilePASS+, taps to approve the login request, taps Nexus Imprint to enter their biometric PIN (optional) and is then logged in to the resource.

Notes on Permissions
SafeNet MobilePASS+ requires access to the unique identifier of your device to secure your tokens against misuse and manipulation, it will therefore request phone identity permission. SafeNet MobilePASS+ does not contain any instruction to access your phone history or phone calls.
SafeNet MobilePASS+ will request access to notifications to synchronize login requests with push notifications.

by P####:

Crash on start up. Can't even get it set up to have a token. Glad my company chose this vendor..... My IT department was able to give me an older version of the app that isn't crashing. So I got setup and unlike the latest update this one isn't crashing constantly.

R70%
by R####:

After using the MP1 app for years now i need to use the MobilePASS+ application, first thing why does it need privilege to acces my telephone ??? MP1 didnt need this privilege and this app wants it or it doesn't work strange. The GUI isn't that great, So please remove the need for telephone access and then it will get a good review from me also. If it is needed to work with SMS tokens then it should be an option to toggle on but now you don't get any information why it is used there isn't a statement what the application does with the privilege.

T70%
by T####:

Pathetic... Token expires automatically.. Again go to IT section get a new pass.. But server side there are no issues they tell..

Z70%
by Z####:

Useless! My company selected this app for its token authentication. Installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times, but still not able to even get into the app to set it up. Crashes every time on startup. Not sure what to do next, but right now it is absolutely useless.

U70%
by U####:

My company request to use this app and just like everyone else, it crashes at startup

by I####:

Nice easy to use

X70%
by X####:

1. What would you do with the sensitive info stored on my phone. Why do you want access. 2. Why does it ask for notification access all the time. It works the same way, be it a yes or a no. 3. Does not have a windows utility where I was able to copy and paste. 4. Not sure how it responds to Nougat update. It makes no sense to have this app installed except for the reason that my employer mandated it.

R70%
by R####:

Crashes on start up consistently. I have no idea how I'm supposed to use my VPN with this pos. I can't believe my company thought this was a good product to use. Utter crap. Why are the ridiculous permissions required?? I can use your push notifications, so stop asking!!!!

L70%
by L####:

It is just impossible to use this without enabling notifications - The app will pop[ up a message to ask to enable notifications every single time you open the app, with a convenient popup that covers the VPN code (nice work!) Hitting cancel on the notifications cause the same notification pop up to be displayed again. And again. The only way to see the code is to allow notifications in the phone system preferences. I do not want to receive any app for this piece of garbage. Yet I have to enable notifications every day to use this thing. Junk.

H70%
by H####:

It keeps asking for notification acess, I say deny once thats it. Passcodes automatically generated every 20 seconds, some times in the middle of typing one. Load time is bad compared to similar apps I used.

R70%
by R####:

Why would it need access to phone calls? It makes no sense. I only installed this because my company asked me to. @Developers: can you please justify the need to access Phone?

R70%
by R####:

This app demands permissions for 'Phone' and therefore requires that we trust Gemalto with access to personal data. There is no justification provided for this and as a Security Engineer I would discourage others from using this app until an explanation is provided. We should be able to deny the permissions and simply forego that functionality. But the app refuses to work without nagging for them. It is not at all clear why it wants access to 'Phone'. Surely not push notification, as that could be done with 'SMS'. And it isn't the device identity as there is a 'Device ID' permission which can provide that without general access.

P70%
by P####:

I can't believe my company chose this app. It worked fine for a little bit, but now it won't open. It just crashes every time. So now I can't log into my VPN. Based on every other review on here, I don't think Gemalto cares, because they obviously aren't fixing any of the problems people are upset with. I have to give credit to the sales rep who sold my employer on this app. I have no idea why anyone would choose an app with almost universally negative reviews.

R70%
by R####:

Why does it need to snoop all the notifications to be able to receive push notifications? Doesn't make sense! Remove that annoying popup. Total garbage!

R70%
by R####:

Required by my employer for VPN. Worked intermittently but would almost always crash on startup. I got locked out of my VPN so many times that I installed the PC version instead. Less convenient but at least it works. Not sure if this is an Android 7.0 issue or just an issue for everybody.

K70%
by K####:

Unfortunately, MobilePASS+ has stopped. I've seen this massage more times than I've been able to use the app. MobilePASS+ has added more time and frustration than security. (The predecessor, MobilePASS by SafeNet worked just fine.)

F70%
by F####:

Crashes everytime. Haven't been able to use it even once. Requests permission to make calls and access contacts. That's illogical from the functionality of this app.

R70%
by R####:

Publisher needs to justify permissions used. You don't need to read my personal notifications in order to receive push notifications. You don't need access to my phone in order to operate securely.

P70%
by P####:

Spyware. It requires permissions to make and manage phone calls to even run. Then it requests permissions to read and interact with all notifications including personal information. Required by my company, otherwise I would never consider downloading it. Horrible.

R70%
by R####:

This app crashes every time that I try to open it. I'm completely locked out of my company's VPN as a result.

Q70%
by Q####:

Crash at startup 1/2 times. Each time I open the app it says that for "push notification" it asks TWICE for permissions to read and edit all my notification. There is no option to cancel it.

W70%
by W####:

The IOS-version works flawless. But the Android version keep asking me for Notification Access, which MobilePASS+ already has (it's enabled in Settings).

R70%
by R####:

It has been crashing frequently. Even if I update other applications, it opens with message "configuration updated please delete existing tokens"

V70%
by V####:

The app constantly crashes. I also agree with other reviews here - why do you require the permissions you do? Seems like overkill.

D70%
by D####:

Almost useless but required by my employer. Crashes mysteriously half the time. Rendering it unusable. Making my work's network unreachable.

X70%
by X####:

When we update any phone or we buy a new phone the app gets reset due to which we need to again enroll and is not at all user friendly. We are supposed to wait for our managers approval and then helpdesk will again send enrollment link to access token.

R70%
by R####:

Only giving one star because I can't give less. App crashes all the time, especially when I need it most. It requires too many permissions when it doesn't need them. Notifications do not actually work.

D70%
by D####:

This is supposed to be an app to help with Security (2FA) - why the heck does this ask for so many permissions: Camera / SD card / Phone ... Really? Maybe this is just me - but this is undermining Gemalto credibility because the company does not seem to understand (or care about) basic security tenets (But one could argue I took the liberty to expand the "minimal privileges" principle to include "minimal permission" on mobiles). What's next ? Should I provide my SSN and Credit Card information for "safer" authentication ?

A70%
by A####:

I have no idea why a token app requires push notifications. It wont stop asking for permission and i sure as hell wont give it permission.

V70%
by V####:

No reason for this app to ignore the security of users when in theory it is supposed to be protecting my company. I would not have installed if my company didn't force me to.

R70%
by R####:

Horrible....Keeps crashing. Uninstalled and reinstalled and had to re-register only for it to stop working shortly after. Worst authenticator app I've ever used.

R70%
by R####:

Doesn't work with multiple sim cards or Google Fi service, and crashes quite frequently, sometimes necessitating a reinstall

T70%
by T####:

Worked first day. Now keeps crashing on start. I see no way to get a password from it.

L70%
by L####:

Worst app..but no other option because of company's mandatory use.

Y70%
by Y####:

A piece of .... For what reason our company continues to use this awkward piece of app?

R70%
by R####:

Does not start after upgrade to Android 7.

X70%
by X####:

Requires access to phone and notifications which I think is unnecessary

R70%
by R####:

Intrusive app. May go with PC VPN instead.

R70%
by R####:

Very crashy on stock Nexus 5x.
