GeoSpring for Android
My biggest complaint with this is that there is no way to tell the current temperature of the water in the hot water tank. This app has a lot of potential but very few updates from GE. (The comfort app has the same limitation)
Could not configure on Android, only IOS. Worked on Android only after IOS setup. Would not work with my 2012 Geo but does work with my 2016 model. Working fine after 30 days. NEEDS ACTUAL H2O TEMP! Come on GE.
Setup went fine for me with Galaxy S7 Edge. The camera wasn't even close in capturing the password, but when I typed it, it connected perfectly. Setup was easy. The app works fine. I do wish it had some additional features such as: Display current operating mode (running compressor, running elements, standby); how much power is currently being utilized; power use over a period of time (I. E. month). With those additional features, this is easily a 5.
Works great ,able to put on /off vaction mode from 350 miles away to have Hot water when we get home. I wish I could monater water temp in tank to know to turn on elements , a Graff would be nice to see heating cycles
This app can only control one GE Geospring water heater. It is very common to have two water heaters in a larger house, as I do, but there is no provision to add a second water heater. Now I have to go down and control it manually, essentially rendering this app useless.
The app had difficulty updating and connecting to my router when first installed. I had to call the helpline and they made it work in about 5 minutes. I would like to request that the app shows the same usage information that is being collected by GE. This would make the app far more useful capturing hourly energy and water consumption data.
This review may be premature, as I just received the ConnectPlus module early this week. I LOVE the fact that I can adjust my water heater settings, not just from inside the house, but anywhere. Set up was relatively painless, though I am fairly tech-savvy. Although, I can see where many may have trouble following the instructions (not sure why I needed to take a picture of my password when the app would never get it right and I had to correct). If it does not connect the first time it won't let you exit the app. Doesn't seem to work as advertised.
App worked great at first then one day it shows water heater is offline, reset the connect box and it would connect again but after a day or two it shows offline again. Frustrating and have no idea how to fix this issue the light Is solid green but yet it shows offline, and sometimes it just comes back online after few hrs. There is no help topic for it being connected but showing offline. So now I'm away from home and unable to connect to heater to set it to another mode since it's showing offline
Was easy to set up. I can easily view and change the set temp and operating mode. And can set vacation mode for set number of days. Very cool!
Application required to take a picture of password from ConnectPlus but does not not recognize it on Galaxy S4 and S5 and crashed on Dell Venue 8. There is no option to skip photo and enter password manually. On other phones (Galaxy Victory/ZTE Speed) it recognized password from ConnectPlus but then screen rendered incorrectly so place to enter password for home network is hidden behind Connect button. Finally, I was able to setup account using Nexus 7.
This App is not what you would expect from GE especially with all of the Ads they're running on TV regarding their investment into programmers, etc... Maybe they should replace everyone they've hired and start over; too many entry level personnel? Cannot connect, re-installed App several times. Other Apps I use to remotely control other home systems work flawlessly & without any issues. Back to the drawing board GE!
This app barely works when it does, and if your WiFi password ever changes you'll never get it to work again. There is no way to update the WiFi password so the water heater loses its connection forever.
I really like the ability to remotely change modes and temperature. But for the $50.00 paid for the Wi-Fi box, I want more: 1) Get the Wink and SmartThings Connected hubs the ability to access the water heater, similar to Reem heaters. 2) Let the users access the test data such as water and external temperatures, and current active components states such as each heater element and heat exchanger on/off state. 3) The ability to record to a file the above data. 4) Give us the ability to change the modes and temperatures automatically by date, day of week and time so that we can easily take advantage power company reduced rate plans..
This wasn't working at first since my model was not a initially supported, however I called the support line and they pushed a firmware update to fix it. Great support from Phil! Thanks!

It keeps disconnecting itself from the WiFi and then won't reconnect. Maybe we could make it so we could skip the bs and put in the password that's printed on the back without using the camera which never works. How about we skip that part altogether since it already was paired with the WiFi.

App makes it great to not have to go to the basement to change modes or put in vacation mode.
UPDATE: when you are an early adopter, you often caught in a situation where products/software are in transition or released a little early to meet marketing's schedule. The real test is how a company handles the resulting issues. GE contacted me, proactively, when they read my first frustrating post. Within short order, they remotely resolved the issues. Made-in-the-USA rocks! Thanks GE!!
works great! For faster recovery or when the weather is cold outside I can easily switch to electric for quick - and expensive - hot water, then switch back to an energy saving mode using the heat pump when use is more even. Also, when away can switch to vacation mode to save $$$. Only wish software had a scheduler where I could automatically go to a faster recovery mode in the wake-up hours then go to heat pump energy savings the rest of the day. Also, being able to schedule the hour of when vacation mode ends.

Get rid of the requirement to take a picture of the password on the device. It never works. Add an option to change the router password if you get a new router.
