Garmin Smartphone Link

This app would be great if you could put in long distance addresses into it. As a truck driver I'm not always looking for local sometimes it's across the country. When I find an address in Google maps and hit share this program comes up as an option but once I share nothing happens.

Annoying battery hog, turns on any time the Bluetooth is turned in whether you need it or not

I use it on my dezl 770 and love it. Brings live traffic and weather to my truck gps with amazing accuracy

Having trouble getting app to connect to Facebook or Twitter like it used to a while ago.

New version drops Bluetooth connectivity. Older version was better.

Good app, handy for pin pointing locations on a map but would be better if you could search first then pin point. It also drains my phone battery, even when the sat nav is turned off. I can't turn Bluetooth off as I have a smart watch aswell.

Absolutely kills battery life. Used to be at the end of the day my charge level was about 50% remaining on my Pixel. After installing this app, it won't make it 12 hrs on a single charge. Have to bump charge it to make it through the day. Garmin - if you can tell when I'm connected or not connected to my nuvi, why do you use so much battery when I don't even connect?

This app has been responsible for chewing through about 20% of my battery lately. It's gotten so bad that I had to remove location based permissions because it would leave my gps on for hours at a time when I haven't even used the app. Please fix this app! I want to use it with my Garmin GPS unit!

I thought this would be great to have for my gps for my trips home, getting the live traffic updates sent to the GPS, assisting with reroutes so I can get where I need to go avoiding the congestions. But no, that's not what this does. I haven't noticed a change in anything aside from me turning my Bluetooth on and it constantly being connected. I can connect my phone to a Bluetooth speaker without this app attempting to run in the background, knowing the GPS is no where near it and is turned off. The other complaint again is my phone being connected to the Bluetooth in my car. At first the GPS would have no notification for incoming calls, and adds this layer of static to the call. I can barely hear them and they can't hear me. Disconnected the Bluetooth between phone and GPS, phone calls sound normal. I had hoped that this would be great since I didn't purchase the traffic adapter for my GPS but instead it's a battery guzzeling, Bluetooth interferring nusence. I'm sad I have to install this but it's gotta go.

This app runs when you don't want it to. Everytime bluetooth is running this app starts up. The only way to stop it is to turn off bluetooth. Garmin should know that this app is not the only one you need bluetooth for. STOP THE AUTOMATIC BS GARMIN and you will have a good app!

Awesome, great, life saver. I'm a professional firefighter, and I have to be on scene, 4 minutes after I get a call. No time for errors, or entering things by hand. I say the address into my phone the second it comes in, and send it to my gps unit the second I get in the fire engine. Works great, I can't thank Garmin enough for how smooth this app functions!!!!!

I really only use this app for hands free calling on my DriveSmart 51. I'm using a Moto G4 Plus. I don't have experience with the traffic portion, and I still want to try the Google pin drop features. It works well for calling. I do have a major beef, though. I hate that the Smartphone Link is active whenever the Bluetooth is on, whether the GPS is around or not. I get that it may be difficult to automatically sense the GPS but there's no reason this needs to be up all the time. I think you could do one of two things about this: 1. Make a setting that allows the user to disable the link when not near the GPS. 2. Just get rid of the notification icon. Honestly if I didn't have to see it all the time it probably wouldn't be an issue.

Needs to reconnect automatically. I use my nuvi 12 hours a day. I've had it 3 weeks now, and driven almost 6k miles. It doesn't reconnect automatically, most of the time

This app doesn't do anything. It tells me something, in a notification box, about needing to get more apps from the Play Store, and when I click "OK" (the only option given to me), the stupid app closes. No further explanation, no elaboration, nothing. I don't know what it wants; it won't tell me. This app is a worthless waste of space. It shall be deleted. For what it's worth, the phone is a Galaxy Note 5, and the GPS is a DEZL 570 LMT. No sense in keeping an app that refuses to even open properly.

Nice idea, and would be very useful when travelling but when app is installed battery life of phone is killed. So completely unusable when travelling. Unfortunately had to uninstall whilst on holiday.

I started having problem with my vehicles Navigation system (which uses Garmin) ever since the recent update of this app (late May 2016). Very annoying and stupid! Please test your software!!!

Worked well up until Today. Does not connect to GPS anymore. Even after uninstall Reinstall. Sad for the price I paid I expect top notch. My unit is Zumo 595LM

Removed as now taking over my Bluetooth and prevents other apps from working. Why do apps presume you want them running all the time and dominating resources?

Ever since the most recent update, I can't make or answer phone calls on my garmin drive smart 50LMT. Why? It won't let me check Phone Calls audio, and won't connect for that. For verifications and Smart Link, it says Connected. But won't connect for phone audio, no matter how many times I try.

UPDATED REVIEW: July 07, 2017... I've tried this app with 6 phones, 3 "recommend" Garmin gps, 4 different carriers Still not happy! The app is BS, it's extremely limited, it simply never works as advertised- to push map locations and routes to the Gramin GPS... Honestly, for about 3 years it's been pretty useless and has never been overhauled or seen required UPDATES!!!

Worked ok, but even when GPS not in use drained my battery. Not worth the benefit to always have the battery drain, so will uninstall.

Update June '17 - Still sucks. Still hangs my stereo even with the June version. Garmin support (laughable name) replied after weeks of silence to send me instructions on how to install it, completely ignoring what I was telling them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was fabulous until either this specific version or the Android 7 update to my phone - they came within a few hours of each other - but now it completely hangs my Kenwood DNX stereo.

How the hell do you switch off this app when you get home? Also, a battery hog. The arrival time on the sat nav dances all over the place when synced with his app.

Following this update the subscribed live services are available to be purchased again. I've already paid for these services. Update fixed subscription issue

When it works, it's good. Every so often it stops working. I have to remove and reinstall.

This was a decent companion app for my GPS, but now it just disconnects for no reason every single time after a few seconds of turning on the car and the GPS starting up.

At last google map drop pin sharing is working again don't think it was thanks to SmartLink update though probably Google

Flawless on my Nexus 5X running Android O beta 2, links to my GPS easily and hasn't let me down with any of it's options

It's working good but add a feature if there is new version for my GPS device update is available it let us know at least every 15 days

Heavy on battery use. Don't save notification settings, keep on disconnecting. Garmin really need to improve this app

Works well but drains the battery pretty quickly by constantly polling gps even when it is not connected to the device.

The latest update broke smartphone link functionality with my BMW Navigator VI

While app will read text message you can not send reply. Wish they would add that capability

Worked really well on my old android 4.4 phone. Will not launch on new android 6 phone?
