About Garmin Mechanic™

Find out what’s really going on under your hood with Garmin Mechanic.

Get insight into how your car is performing with the free Garmin Mechanic™ app. Use the Skidpad to measure lateral acceleration, and track your speed and distance using GPS.

Taking a trip? Garmin Mechanic tracks your trips and calculates total distance, average speed, and estimated mileage to help increase fuel savings. Got more than one vehicle? You can track and collect data on multiple vehicles.

At the pump, enter your fill-up data and track average mileage, total fuel used, fuel cost, cost per mile and more. Set up service schedules for maintenance on all your vehicles, and get notifications when service is due.

Expand your toolbox by pairing the Garmin Mechanic app with our ecoRoute™ HD module (sold separately) and gain access to real-time performance data, including live gauges showing RPM, throttle position, intake pressure, manifold vacuum, boost, instant economy, battery voltage, real-time estimated power and torque, and more. Evaluate your driving style with the Eco Score gauge.

Create gauge sets and save them as Dashboards, and instantly recall them for different driving modes (e.g. towing, economy, racing).

Measure your vehicle's performance with the Acceleration/Dyno feature. Measure 0-30, 0-60 and 1/4-mile times, torque and horsepower.

With the ecoRoute HD module, Garmin Mechanic also calculates your instant and average fuel economy, and checks your vehicle’s self-test status for emissions certification. The vehicle diagnostics feature reads and provides descriptions for over 6500 error codes and resets your vehicle’s Check Engine light.

Export all your vehicle information (including fill-ups, service schedule, service history, sensor data, diagnostic data, acceleration runs and more) to view on your computer.

Its ok but it needs to tell you what exit and what streets you need to take.. Not just turn left in 500 feet it gets confusing especially in a big city like columbus. Plez fix.

Well it said I was doing 135mph and traveled 75 miles. In reality I did a max of 40mph and travelled about 3 miles. Talk about useless.

This works great for seeing what is going on with my car but it would be awesome if the fuel mileage gauge was a little more accurate (on long freeway drives it can get 10mpg high and lots of town driving it can get 10mpg low) Something that would be very helpful also is an air/fuel gauge.

How is it possible to get more than two gauges on the screen at the same time as per your picture? Tried all available menus.

T70%

Get an ecoROUTE device, connect it to your late model car's diagnostic port. Your car talks to the device, the device talks to the phone...see your gauges, diagnostic codes, reset check engine light etc.

it won't stay connected to the ecoroute hd long enough to use it. didn't when I tried it 2 years ago, nothing has changed imfo.

For this application to work you need to install Garmin eco route HD in your car OBD 2 port, that provides correct data reading from your vehicle computer module and give you all information you need to know.

Getting there. Can you please add data imports matching the exports? Still no import - no wonder Garmin apps are rated lower than four stars.

Adding support for newer pids, adding support for custom pids, vehicle specific pids, would be a nice feature... Missing pid support for fuel level sensors on newer vehicles.

If the apps gets put into the background (ex. From changing music, viewing nav app, etc.) it stops working correctly. Please add an option to allow the app to run in the background.

But I have a 2004 Prius. When I go in to trip history on a 27 mile trip my avg mpg says 877.07 and best 7488.46. But also says my gallons used was 5.67. How do they get the avg mpg? Hope that gets fixed

The device refuses to stay connected to my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition or my Note 3. And I can see that the device does not store any info in an onboard buffer zone for just in case it does disconnect scenario. Very disappointed in this. I had such high hopes for it. Hey Garmin, please fix this thing. $100 paper weight is not cool.

Great potential, but I have problems paring nearly every time it launches. Have to force close the app and re-open it many times to get it to connect properly. Must do this every time you use it, or once it disconnects and the app closes it will not reconnect.. Putting any graph into full screen mode allows the screen to turn off despite the setting of keep the screen on being enabled. Option to measure 0-30/0-60 time appears to be missing, 1/4 and 1/2 mile are there however. Skid pad app doesn't correctly differentiate between acceleration / braking G force and lateral G forces in turns, so you cannot leave it running and check it after, someone must be watching it during the turn to figure out what your max lateral G force is.

Diagnostic sesions can be ecpensive but now this app has been updated thats not a problem any more .... I have the eco device in my jeep and i use it all the time... it helps me to drive better... by using the graph data on a long run I can manage 32mpg (very well pleased). My jeep has 3lt. Diesel crd engine. 5 stars well deserved.

Pretty good app overall. Only thing I would like to see is to mirror the screen so that when I use my galaxy tab s I can put it up as a HUD! That'd be freaking sweet

Has done great features but won't connect to the ecoroute HD automatically. You need to enter 0000 every time. Get that fixed and it'll be worth using

I love the app, but on my samsung s3, the gauges display anything, unless I max out the number of gauges and switch to landscape view, then I get a rectangular digital Display that shows numbers. On my samsung tab 3 (7 inch) it shows gauges only but no numbers. The ones that have numbers show a random single digit outside of the gauge image. If I could upload a picture I would.

I pair it fine but after that it just sits there saying "quarying PID (set 1)" goes no further past that.

Need a UK friendly Celsius and MPH option please. Be better with an option to auto and off Bluetooth.
