Garmin Connect™ for Android
Works fine on my 1+ 3T I just started using it this Christmas, so I haven't had the time to go through all menus. It is missing something to make it spectacular, but cannot say exactly what that is. It works, it does what it says. Will come back to this review in a few weeks, if I'll have anything to edit.
Keeps getting better and better. The new day summary view is excellent. Synch is fast and works without issues for me. Stays connected to my phone without issues either. I would like to see improvements in the ability to drill - down into performance metrics more effectively, hopefully that's an area they address in the future.
Great design now.... But no longer pairs due to a Bluetooth issue wuith android 7 I think. Please fix else will have to return my Vivosmart 3 :( Am using Samsung A3. Latest update now means that the PIN doesn't disappear before it can be entered..... Because now not prompted to enter one! Still not able to pair. 15/12/2017: Updates still not fixed issues :(
Works well for what I use it for. Must admit, I don't use it to it's full potential, but there's so much data here! Syncing is usually fine, with my vivosmart hr+ uploading instantly. The main reason I use it is to link to my Vitality insurance, and that syncs up quickly as well. Had a little bit of blip where my tracker wasn't syncing, but simply uninstalled the app and re-installed, and all is sorted. But for this blip, would get 5*.
Excellent. Well thought out and visually appealing. I experienced some trouble with sleep tracking when I had removed the watch during the day for charging, but what a delight that I could edit "sleep". The fenix continues to monitor biometrics and when I manually entered sleep hours I found that it accurately recorded wake time, movement and sleep depth, etc. I do wish "nap" could be added as an activity and be integrated with overall daily sleep. I am very active and on my feet most of my work day but almost always take a 20 minute nap everyday. Also, it doesn't seem to interpret split sleep intervals..for instance sleeping from 9 to 11pm, waking and being active for a few hours and going back to bed at 2am and sleeping for another 4 hours. It does not record the earlier sleep time. "Nap" as an activity I would think could solve this. Still, I am delighted with my fenix5 and this app. Far more than I expected.
I was given a forerunner 235 for Christmas and it won't connect with my Huawei p10 lite, after reading other reviews it's clear this is a known problem however still no fix. Can a fix be established ASAP or I will be returning my new device, plenty of (non garmin) alternatives available if necessary
When are you going to fix the Huawei issues?????????Garmin is losing a lot of customer trust here. The inability or lack of interest to resolve connection issues with Huawei phones is simply unacceptable. The app works on my HTC and not my Huawei but did two releases ago. In case you can't figure it out - rollback the changes you made and fix the issues rather than cause the chaos you have.
I really enjoyed opening my new Garmin Forerunner 235 and was looking forward to the array of information on the app that was available. Alas, my phone would simply not pair up (Huweii Honor 5C). Needless to say I was very disappointed. The only notification was that connection had timed out. Sadly I will be returning this product - it's a lot of money to spend to have things that aren't compatible.
I was really pleased when I first got my vivoactive 3, but now keeps on losing Bluetooth connectivity with app on my Samsung and watch will not turn off. Seems to be some kind of software malfunction. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling app but doesn't recognise watch. Bitterly disappointed Garmin. Taking it back to shop.
If it could count stairs climbed or record body fat , it would be perfect. The app always accuses me of taking the lift when i never, ever use lifts. In a new low, 25 times up and down the stairs registered as 2 times up, a couple of days ago. This is in connection to my garmin vivoactive hr. Awesome watch except for stairs I link the app to myfitnesspal. I'm having to run a spreadsheet as well as the two apps to handle body fat %.
Garmin, please can you sort out an update as I can no longer pair my Forerunner 35 / Huawei P10 lite by Bluetooth. Seems to be a known issue. Pairing just repeatedly times out in a loop, although in the Bluetooth settings the device is visible, but still won't pair!! It used to work until a few days ago
Apparently this app was compatible with a Huawei P9 lite.. Well it's not now!! Updates have apparently rendered it useless. Wish I'd never heard of garmin. What a waste of my time. Please fix this issue asap. Otherwise I'll be returning the vivosmart3 and buying something from your competitors. Do not buy Garmin or Huawei!! Save yourself the heartache.
Same Bluetooth connection problem as many others. Frustrating as I am missing out on rewards due to not being able to connect!!! Had a Vivofit, worked fine until a few days ago.... Now bought a Vivosmart HR, but to great disappointment can't even successfully set up.....Huawei P9 lite...
The new app is ok as a user interface but even with the latest update (5 Dec 2017) my Garmin Edge still doesn't connect to my phone anymore (Honor 6X). Its been like this for a good two months now...
Does not connect to my Huawei lite p10. Despite it being a problem for months it's is still an issue for a very expensive fitness tracker. The £10 fitness tracker I bought for my grandma has a better app! Appalling customer service Garmin
I once gave this 1 star, but after the rewrite it looks better and more importantly works better, doing a good job of maintaining a connection to my Fenix3 and everything else I need. Sleep recording seems inaccurate but probably the watch. Still improving, keep at it.
Was working fine for 9 months and all of a sudden today I hit the Bluetooth issues. The app didn't even update today so not sure what happened. Vivoactive HR and Wileyfox Swift 2. A friend at work told me about the issue last week and now this. Please fix it. You pi55ed me of in the summer with your shonky Edge 1000 firmware. You have a fair amount of competition these days. Remember that!
Great app! Got really nice features I find really useful and surely revolutionized fitness trackers. Minor downside, when a new update came, I got logged out from the app, have to setup and pair the watch again. It wasnt that bad but couldve been better to keep it logged it despite the updates.
Loving it more and more as the time goes by. It's just great to check anything I need related with my daily sleep monitoring, step count or activity accurate statistics. This app makes me more happy of getting a Garmin device, and more convinced of purchasing one of this same brand the next time. As disadvantage I would like the running dynamics to be able to see when sharing, for example, while WhatsApp with someone else. Don't know why, but they are not able to see it properly.
Generally been OK but I don't like the recent updated view and although I've always struggled to connect via Bluetooth to my fenix, after the update, it's an uphill battle. Slowly but surely, garmin is starting to get on my nerves.
I purchased vivofit 3 few days ago. Downloaded this app as instructed. Signed up and paired. Then come to the "Almost done!" page, and it tells me to sync. And that's it. I cannot pass this stage no matter how many times I tried. I searched online forums for solutions. Tried every method I could find (uninstall, reinstall, soft reset, hard reset, difference phones with different versions of Android, etc)and had no success. I am very disappointed.
I really like the app it tell me what i need and much more. The only thing I would add is that it doesn't show the last 12 month but since I started using it in order to see if I'm getting better or worse
Garmin made a new looking app. With only one result: can´t connect my vivoactive HR anymore! No solution for now more than 4 weeks... Have absolutely no understanding and can´t hardly believe how bad it went! Update: 09.12 New update but no solution! It is a shame... it really is! A not functioning app renders the watches nearly useless. I completely regret not bought another brand!!
This app has a great idea for its use. I see a lot of positive improvements since the old editions. But it has a lot of bugs: 1. When you go to your own user profile and select "Stats", it gives an error and no stats are visible. I would suppose that I should be able to view my own stats. 2. If you go to "About" section to view someone's information it doesn't show the user's info, it just copies your height, weight and VO2Max (not the other users info, but rather the info of whoever is logged in). I will give 5 star rating when these bugs are fixed.
Does NOT work with Huawei phones directly (Android 7). Uninstall Google Services updates (replace with factory version), then connect the Garmin watch. After initial sync, update google services back to latest. This incompatibility should be addressed by Garmin.
Haven't been able to even use the app since I bought the watch. Swithched to Garmin Vivoactive HR from TomTom Runner Cardio thinking the support and functionality would be better but not the case. Should have stuck rwith TomTom, I never had these issues.
5* when it works But useless on my new Huawei. Don't get pairing number up, and on one occasion i did it rolls numbers and fails to pair. Completely incompatible and now I have a fenix 3 I can't use properly. Brilliant. (Still useless 8/12/17)
App does not automatically sync. Directions on how to manually sync are unclear, and only wipes out your entire day's data. At least I have a sharp looking everyday watch that didn't cost a fortune.
Honestly can't believe I bought my VivoActive HR. I mean all of it's functions are useless of you can't sync it to your phone!! Why is Garmin not fixing the connection problem between the Watches and the Huawei phones?? Surely it can't be that difficult?? Really disappointed Garmin!
says that it is compatible with Huawei p8 lite but it's not. Have to sync to my tablet which is annoying but it's the only way I can use the watch, and a few times it has refused to connect to that. This really needs sorting!
Would rate 5 stars, but every time Android pushes an update, you lose bluetooth pairing. You have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to sync Bluetooth with the watch. It's a real pain to pair it too, but it can be done.
Like the app. Seems to work but list of rd party apps you can sync with doesn't match website. Training Peaks has vanished. It used to be there..... Hacked off as now have to manually move workouts.
It should be perfect so synchronise vivosmart3 with huawei is a pain in the ass.. pairing take half an hour with many trick just to be lucky is the best option and once you look the connection between phone and watch, just forget to be able to sync again, just impossible.. I really hope you will fix this asap (Huawei p10 lite, android 7) It would also be good to have a dashboard link and the possibility to add widget to the main screen (from activities stats)
Pairing with Huawei phones is not working AGAIN. Shame update Nov8, 2017: 4.1.11 didn't improve the problem. Synchronization with Garmin starts, does not finish and then disables BT. I have to use sync via USB cable or WiFi. Also BT connection is lost often so smartwatch functions are completely lost.
Working good after I had replaced my phone to Huawei Mate 10 Pro with Oreo. After I clear recent apps. The connection between phone and Vivomove HR also discnnected and It does not reconnect automaticly. Only when I reopen the app again, the connection will start again. What I had done are...try to make the ignore optimize list for the app but still not work. Only I can do is lock this app in the recent app function. Otherwise I'll missing most of my calls and messages. Please advise how can I make the app reconnect automaticly by without to open the app.
I've been waiting for one month and an half, but it's crazy that a brand as Garmin takes so long to fix a problem. After the last android update there is no Bluetooth connection between my P9Lite and Fenix5, or at least is too weak and unreliable to download my activities through the smartphone. Please fix it. Thank you.
Now I can pair and stable connect Huawei P9 lite 2017 & Garmin Vivoactive, but show steps only on start page. Don't sync steps in another page (day details raport & week graph). App works fine on LG G3. Garmin have problem with Huawei, Honor - You fix it before we change the smartwatches
I wasn't convinced to start with as I had to reinstall it after few hours. I must have done something wrong the first time as the app wasn't syncing well with MFP. Now it worka a treat on my S6 edge. Use it all the time for improving my sleeping pattern and track my activities, real workout or cleaning!
TRY AGAIN! This is the second update (12/8) and connecting to the forerunner 230 is still impossible. I've had this watch for around a year and know how to connect. Someone is incompetent. Someone should get fired. Getting close to switch brands. Latest update (12/5?) has broken the connection from the fr 230 to the phone. Can't pair the watch with the phone. Instructions are easy, but watch simply won't pair now. Please fix!!!! Completely useless until fixed. Come on! I'm in the market for a new watch, so why would I even consider your newer watches if you break the connection with an update.

Love it but It would be helpful if you could narrow down to the time when you are most stressed in your day n also during sleep. Also I think their should be a better home screen widget for your home screen, kind of like fit bit, I always loved the steps circle big on my phone. This is jist a boring small app icon
