Courier Journal for Android
Ease of access and great articles make the app worth downloading. Does what it says and does it well.
All the way from Maine; Keeps me in touch with the best city in the states!
Well I have been reading the CJ since I could read, and kept a subscription since I left home to go to college. If the app met the jounalistic standards of the CJ with which I grew up, I would be one happy reader. Sadly it does not...either from a journalistic or app ease of use perspective. Sad.
Love this app. Read it every day!
Excellent overall content, however requires a subscription to the paper and has ads.
Every Kentuckian should have this app. It has everything statewide.
Where are the funnies? Paper is incomplete!
Still one of the tops in the nation.
Untill this latest version worked fine. Now does not work at all with my tablet. Contacted CJ and do not care that it does not work. Are unwilling to help. Of course they all ready have my money for subscription for year so why would they care got to love their great customer care....not!
Newspaper
It would be better if it made the current and even some back issues available in their entirety.
Forced download of new version that is slower and harder to read. Actually preferred old pc style website except for the design decision to display selected story in overlay.
App does not work. Even when logged in for my account I am prevented to read more than two articles, no sports, nothing that is not on front page. Don't bother with this app.
News Weather and SPORTS
Simulation of horse racing doesn't have a lot of the best horses so how can it really tell you anything? Missing are Sunday Silence, Secretariat, Man o'War, Seattle Slew, Alysheba, Curlin, Rags to Riches, & so on & so on, & so on! There are no directions, no TV or movies. I would never actually use it, even for free!
Does not work all the time
horse racing
"Free" is misleading. There is no search feature. No directions on any feature.
No way to search for articles? Really?
I'll stick with WDRB
This has been a pet peeve of mine for awhile
Cause in the end it all comes out
I want to look at Opinion pages and I don't need to have 8 of the top 10 "top stories" about basketball! Why not have the layout the same as the print version with actual NEWS as the top button? Yuck!
Last update broke opinion pages letters to editor and obit sections did no one look at this ?
The Louisville Courier-Journal app. Keeps me in touch with what I need to know.
Old news, articles half done, no obits.
Looks much better than before. Let's see how stable it is.
Newspaper
I love that I could get local news for free from the app. I also liked getting breaking news alerts until they started making them for Information like the score at the end of a football quarter. They need to separate their notifications I feel that breaking news is really only major news. They also need to allow notification tone to be selected. All in all it's a good start and a useful app, but it needs improvements to not irk me.
Why I wouldn't subscribe to this shitrag
By noon I received 6 'news' updates, all the same. Like someone said, it's more like looking at their website. Disappointed, & I removed it.
Doesnt work properly. I uninstalled!
No opinion or obituary page. Has been down three days. Comes up on computer. Does not work on android.
Very convenient but crashes often and navigating back to home screen always jumps back to the top of the page...VERY ANNOYING!
Crashes constantly, Gannett needs to get it together. If I could just get this delivered to my Kindle every morning the convenience factor may be worth the price. But with lack of decent local reporting and the TV news outlets having better content I just don't see the point.
Signed in through browser but app will not let me log in!
Stays with old articles, will not show new stories.
Why does the courier journal think that people will pay $ for their news paper, website use or this app when there are sooo many other viable, credible, FREE news sources available? Or maybe that's just what happens right before a news publisher goes out of business...

The CJ app does a good job. The navigation and layout is much simpler However, I don't like the placement of bottom menu buttons, and the search "hourglass" is missing; hard to believe, isn't it?
