About 3D Galaxy Map

Explore the galaxy in a stunning three dimensional map based on NASA's artistic impression of the Milky Way galactic structure. Photos are taken by NASA spacecraft and ground based telescopes like Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray, Herschel Space Observatory and the Spitzer Space Telescope.

From the outskirts of the galaxy, in the Norma-Outer spiral arm to the galactic center's supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*, discover a galaxy full of amazing facts.

Ever wondered how far from Earth are the stars you see in the night sky? Or how far or close they are to each other? Now you can visualize those distances in 3D with a star map divided into 10 parsec sectors (cubes) or 32.62 light years, for an easier observation. Sector (0 ,0 ,0) is our home sector and Sol is the Solar System.

Take a thrilling ride through space and visit strange new alien star systems and black holes. Find out where our Sun - the Solar System - is located in the Milky Way galaxy!

Explore space and get a little closer to our wonderful universe with this awesome astronomy app!
This interactive 3D map is excellent for teachers to use for instruction, and it is a great resource for students to explore the Milky Way galaxy and space as they learn more about the universe we live in.

When I first saw this app I thought it was awesome. But I went to use this app today and it somehow is super buggy. Tried reinstalling and I get the same problems. I have a Sony Z3. After loading, the side buttons work, but I cannot tap or swipe around to move the galaxy. After playing around with the side options, and finding out the quit button doesn't work, eventually I can tap and swipe the galaxy, but no text info comes up w/ info button. There is no big FPS slow down...App is just buggy: uninstalled

P70%
by P####:

Awesome ! It would be cool if there was a way of knowing which galactic directions the axes signify -- is the y axis the length of the arm, the x axis the width ? or the other way around ? other than that, I can't find fault.

Looked very interesting but doesn't run on my Galaxy S5. I get a splash screen that is too quick to read and software exits.

I sat in the cold all night until dawn where I saw, without equipment, the fantastic stars, clusters, and awesome milkyway from one horizon to opposite horizon in the far west of Ireland where there's pitch black environment and without moon too. I was sad, felt stuck & I wants to reach out, away from here. Lol.

But I cannot believe you catalogued that many known stars and missed out Eta Carinae? WT*? Nothing under its common name, its Henry Draper catalogue designation (HD93308), its Harvard Revised Catalogue Designation (HR4210), the spectral class of one of the pair (probably O), the constellation (Carina), its old name (Eta Argus), or its even older name (Foramen)! Come on people. Eta Carinae is FAMOUS. Two stars removed until you sort this chronic blunder out!
