About Notal

With Notal, you can type your notes with plain Markdown text and enjoy reading with a clean, simple style. If you aren't familiar with Markdown, we encourage you take a look at this new trend on writing and reading your notes.

Markdown is a lightweight markup language, originally created by John Gruber and Aaron Swartz allowing people "to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, then convert it to structurally valid HTML". The language takes many cues from existing conventions for marking up plain text in email.

**Note:** The external file viewer is disabled by default. In order to open external text or markdown files you need to enable it from the Preferences screen first.

Features:
✓ Create notes using Markdown syntax
✓ Share notes
✓ Pager interface to navigate between notes
✓ Configurable text size
✓ Open external files (text files or *.md). Enable from Preferences -> External File Viewer

Notal is a really beautiful Markdown editor. It handles huge files ultra fast but it lacks a **word search** option which is essential when working on large files. Bug: when opening files form a file manager the **night mode** is nullified. All **day mode** again.

If it had ability to tag notes, group or categories (and view those in a list) I would give it a 5 star.

Doesn't work as external file editor. Viewer works fine, editor crashes. Note 4 w/ 5.1.1

Finally, a notetaking tool that I can use for long term. Hopefully, developers will implement auto-indent whenever I enter a series of unordered list. Anyway, this tool stays in my device :-)

Great markdown editor! Other feature that I hope will be implemented is notes grouping, such as: folder or tagging support; or the ability to open *.md files stored elsewhere directly from the editor (not just as viewer) would be awesome too!

After comparing a lot of free md editors, this is the best so far. Still, it would be better if it support dropbox synchronization and share.

I've been using notal for some time now, and being a heavy user, I can say that this app is way above its competition. There are a few things I would like to point out, though. 1. It would be better if there was option to save the file as .html. Now it can only be emailed 2. Multimarkdown support is desirable, as it supports tables 3. Provide for app themes

This seems very good. The only hassle I have are the big save & cancel buttons at the bottom of the edit window that eat into the real estate too much. This can work with dropbox if you set it as the default app for text files. They fixed the save & cancel buttons so I'm upgrading my rating. I wouldn't bother with the tutorial for integrating with dropbox. Just open your files from dropbox (with Notal's "external file viewer setting" on) and everything's hunky dory.

Had an issue w/readability of editor font, dev very responsive to it and added choice of default font. So far no problems!

Out of all the Android markdown apps, I liked the UI on Notal the best, but it was missing one odd detail - I couldn't link to other notes, a function I had taken for granted with Personal Wiki programs on the desktop. After asking about it, I got a polite, in-depth response, and was even asked for feedback regarding how such a function would be implemented. And less than a week later, an update came out with the ability to link between notes! Thanks, Agustin!

This application is simply fantastic. It's really, really small, and Markdown features work right out of the box. Thanks a lot for this nice product.
