Fridge Check (Cooking recipes) for Android
It doesn't do the one thing you want it to do: give you recipes based on ONLY the ingredients you have on hand. The idea of this app is to have it retrieve recipes from online that reflect what you HAVE. Instead, it gives you recipes that require some or many ingredients you don't have. The idea is to have an app that gives you recipes based on the ingredients you have on hand so you don't have to go buy them. I get that it's hard to write code that will do this, but this is terrible.
It won't even start up it just keeps closing. It's a big bowl of bologna, and not even the good deli kind, its the watery kind that comes in a plastic coffin and you get bologna slime all over your finger when you're trying to make a sandwich. That's this app. Also all that I have in my fridge.
Love the idea. But the interface for searching is poor, the voice recognition doesn't work, and it gives me recipes with ingredients I didn't enter. I didn't put in hamburger meat, only chicken, yet the first recipe to pop up was for burgers. The voice recognition s so bad it doesn't even get peanut butter right. When I said it I got "p-nut butter" Hope you can fix this I would love to use this app.
omg this stupid app won't even open! brings up an error page and even then I can't read it cause it automatically closes the whole app and refuses to work. sort it out ! I use to love this app aswell
Instructions unclear. What temperature? How long? What measurements? How did you get breaded chicken when I said pasta, condiments (mustard/ ketchup), and milk?
Im confused.. I thought I could put in ingredients and the app would find examples of what I could make with what I have...My Example ..I put in ground beef.. Potatoes and mixed vegetables and the recipe comes up for chicken curry..I am so disappointed...
It would be better if the recipes you are missing the least ingredients to are listed first. Right now they seem to be listed by how many ingredients you have, but 4/5 should be listed before 5/12.
I would love to try and rate this app, but it force closes every time I open it. So it's basically just a waste of my phone storage.
Keeps telling me no internet connection. But guess what I have internet connection as if I didn't have I couldn't write this review to tell you it's a terrible app. Well it might be good if it ever worked.
Literally JUST downloaded the app. I was expecting an app that would give me receipes that CORRELATE to the ingredients that I input. Not the case. Disappointed
I would've given it five stars but there are a few problems. I've noticed that some recipes are missing ingrediants that show up in the directions. Also, after I've checked so many ingrediants, it starts to delete ingrediants that I've checked before and I have to recheck them which is annoying. And then on top of that, there's not many recipes to choose from but other than that, the app's great! The recipes are easy to follow, are delicious and usually pretty healthy! I wush there was a way to add our own recipes on the app for others to try.
I had it a year ago and it was glitchy. So far so good. Could use a barcode scanner to submit ingredients. Maybe I'm just not seeing it. Otherwise the app is handy
I was eager to try this app but I'm unable to enter the ingredients that are in my fridge. I dont have a touch screen problem with any other apps. The app stops working as soon as I open it which is unfortunate because the app is such a great idea. Please help me fix this.
Just got the app and it seems really great but on the final page i think it'd be better if the recipes were ordered by how close to the final amount of ingredients you need instead of at random. I thought i couldn't make anything but after scrolling a bit i found i could make a couple of things. Missed out on 5 star by that one detail because otherwise it seems like a great tool I'll use a lot.
I would like there to be a way up sort the recipes by closest match or most match of ingredients. ie: 10/10 shows first then goes down from matching ingredients from there. Also, perhaps adding a pantry list and grocery list option. The general public is looking to taken the stress out of weeknight cooking, so creating an app that gives recipes ONLY with the ingredients listed or sortable to place those on top would be a grand slam app.
I would rate the app better if I could use it. Every time that I try to open the app it crashes in what seems like less than one second. I would NOT recommend this app although the concept is great.
I put the ingredients in, no matter what they are, and the same recipes keep popping up. Recipes that I don't have ingredients for!!
Won't open...It keeps automatically closing as soon as I open it... I just downloaded 20 mins ago and it refuses to open
I wish I knew what it was actually like. But since download it keeps force closing on me... Useless don't waste your time.
I love this. It's everything I was looking for. You have so many recipes I've never heard of that I can't wait to try. Bug to fix: I only played with it for a few minutes, but it locked up as I scrolled down the list after a pop up, and after a screen or two worth of recipes scrolled by. It eventually continues without restart, I just have to wait. Question: what are the #/# in the corner? Suggestion: pronunciation guide. Thank you. It's so easy to use. (Nexus 5)
It's difficult to understand the measurements. It just gives a number like the butter cake... Butter 270 (what?) Milk 1 (cups?) Vanilla 2 (?). Please explain cause I don't see TBS TSP CUP or any of the sort! Other than this it's not a bad set up. Takes a bit to get a hang of. Then I go to another and it's got half the measurements. Frustrating.
Literally took the time to put in everything I had to try and create something... I even added salt and pepper, every seasoning I had. With the main meat as chicken. In the end the app showed me ground beef recipes. Deleting the app.
It could be a great app, but there are definite kinks to work out. For example, when searching for foods I found that I had to enter a word exactly as it is in the system - i.e. "hotdogs" yielded no results, but "hot dogs" did. Also, the recipes that are suggested only have a fraction of the ingredients I have - the whole point of downloading the app was to find recipes that don't require a trip to the grocery store. Lastly, the app freezes when I scroll through the suggested recipes and ends up crashing.
Everytime I enter in the food items and the type and time it says no recipies found. Then it closes and says it has stoped working. Please fix this, until then it will have to remain 1 star rating
This could be a great app but it doesn't really do what its supposed to. You enter the ingredients you have and the majority of recipes that come up only contain one of the ingredients listed. Not to mention you cant save the recipe
On my first attempt to use this app, I put in lean ground beef as the ingredient, main dish as the category, and then tried every possible time frame. It said no results found for lean ground beef. I'm uninstalling this app and looking for another one.
I was trying to find an app where I could build my own recipe and have the nutritional value added up for me. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this gem! I found out MY recipe was actually Japanese soup hahaha I just added chicken and mixed veggies.
I put what I have on the checklist thing, and then the meals it suggests are things that I didn't list. I put chicken breast, cheese, milk, flour, baking soda and powder and it suggests grilled steak. Wtf?
I input chicken and pasta sauce and it gives me recipes for caramel cheesecake?! I try it again with only slow cooker recipes and it's gives me crock pot mac n cheese......... How about giving me recipes with ingredients I ACTUALLY listed...
Like the app so far. Hope when I cook something it will ask if I want to remove the ingredients I have. Complaints are that lots of recipes have quantities of an ingredient but no measurement unit next to it. Also, wish my list of ingredients I have was alphabetized so I can find something to remove more easily.
The task of finding recipes from what I have in my fridge and cabinets isn't easy for me, so why should it be for an app? I'm impressed with what I've seen so far from it.
I entered only one ingredient, because I wanted to see what the app could do. Typed "Mahi" and was only given "Mahi Mahi fillets" as an ingredient. That's fine; that's what I've got. After the app chugged for a while and presenting an error (on the first the attempt), the second attempt yielded exactly one recipe, with 11 pictures that look nothing alike. Completely unhelpful.
It would be so nice to have a Gluten Free and Paleo categories as well for us fussy eaters. Otherwise I love the concept im always stumped on what to do with the stuff in my fridge and don't want to go grocery shopping.
I wish I knew about this app a long time ago! Really making my life easier. Only 4 stars for now bc I just got the app.
I gave chicken as an ingredient and gave me all recipes for venison. When I tried to add a few ingredients it gave me recipes for an entire chicken instead of chicken breast. Needs much work!!
You put in your ingredients and it gives you recipes that you don't have the ingredients for!! Put in rump steak and it gives you something completely different to cook!! Stupid!!
I typed in all my ingredients. From seasonings to canned foods and staples . Gives me recipes for duck, prawns, and stuff I didn't put in. As a matter of fact, none of the recipes it gave me was anything that I had. So, I'm now back to square one.
There could be more ingredients (I had a few obvious ones that weren't available) to select from but overall it worked well and was able to offer a pretty good range of recipes.
I mean I've only used it once because i was kinda hungry and its leftovers night at my house and I'm not a huge fan of leftovers. I think that it could be more appealing

This would be a 5 star app instead of a 1 star, except for the fact that it gives me recipes for dishes I don't have the ingredients for. Like I added broth, white rice, white wine, tomato paste, tomato sauce, black and red beans, and it gave me recipes for shrimp soup and beef stroganoff, and all kinds of other worthless crap that I can make. If the aim of this app is to give you viable recipes for just what is in your kitchen, it failed tremendously! Don't waste your time here. They're stealing emails
