Living outside the USA, it is good to read through an overview of what is happening. It is night in the Sthn Hem when all news happening during day in America, so it makes u feel connected in real time. Opinion pieces highlight some points that never highlighted here. Its affordable & gives more articles than some others. Keep it up! ☆☆

There are so very few decent newspapers in the UK. Hence, its only right we should be vocal about how good the reporting is. It makes me sick to my stomach when i see headlines from the daily mail and daily express. Newspapers like these have blood on their hands. They are actually beneath gutter press.

First three attempts to use: 1) I tried searching but only ever got "sorry an error occurred please try later." Perpetually. 2) I tried choosing the Tech section and the app froze solid. 3) I tried to read a story - as soon as I tried to move down the page the app crashed. 3 fails from 3 on Android Marshmallow 6.0. Waste of my time. Pity as I like the I.

I've used this app on a number of phones. Although I love the independent and their reporting this app is a huge disappointment. So I have finally, after about 3 frustrating years, I will be deleting this app. Constantly freezes, stories don't load properly and there's a story about Tesla on the tech section which has been there for over 9 months!! The only reason I put up with it for so long is that I'm a big fan of the newspaper, but there's a limit.

The content is terrific and a relief after the guardian. But the app is awful. Crashes all the time. Seems to be the ads that do it. Please fix and make the ads calm and less intrusive. Hasn't anyone noticed we pay attention to ads more of they are not kicking us in the face? Anyway great content. Charge us for non ad version please.

Keeps getting stuck. Doesn't get updated quickly. I find that even if you reload it still shows yesterday's news. So despite being a very good paper it is frustrating. They need to solve this problem. I don't have a problem with other news sites.

Have bought i since day one, great way of getting up to date with no crass rubbish about "celebrities" or half-naked females. Also excellent photos. Front cover on Friday was stunning - moment paramedics had to tell MP the policeman was beyond CPR. Look of sheer devastation on MP's face captured moment of complete humanity. Keep on keeping on people! Thanks.

I used to love this newspaper. Now it's so opinionated that might as well be called 'Dependant'. I honestly think that the newspaper has completely lost its way. It is now a politically driven newspaper. Some of the one sided stories would make any half educated person sick.

Average. I've been an independent reader for 20 years so I'm happy with content. Problem is download all - hasn't worked properly on any of my phones. Also disappointed that no full paid android tablet version planned.(available on iPad only)

Downloaded again to see if it's been fixed since last year. I don't understand, why is this app so buggy? Can't log in to comment, keeps restarting. Please fix, if it worked properly this would be easier to use than the website.

Unfortunately, I cannot give the app more stars. It's slow to scroll, it freezes, it crashes when I try to log in with Google. Additionally, it suffers from occasional problems downloading content for offline availability, and almost one third of the screen is reserved for an item that does not show - possibly an ad.

Why different layout on phone and tablet both using android 6? Front pages are different pictures and no option for football news on the tablet. I can't figure it out but it's annoying. More stars available if you want them?

I have what I consider a fairly high end phone, Motorola Nexus 6, but this app hangs everytime I try to use it. I initially thought it was due to downloading content, but having removed this option it still hangs and runs very slowly. A shame as the content is excellent. I now use the webpage instead. Disappointing.

Without fail, with every use, the app freezes and the tablet version often fails to retrieve the latest stories. This behaviour is across multiple (modern) devices and has been present for a number of months now. Don't waste your time

Mostly works fine. Often freezes for some time on opening with Google giving the option to force close. Embedded videos not always the right ones for the article. Not updated the articles for days. Still an issue a few years on

Good content but on my Samsung S7 it reezes and crashes almost every time I try to use it. Very frustrating poorly written/tested app.

Crashes a lot, especially after you've swiped through a few pages. They're brave to scrap the print edition and rely on an app this shaky.

I like the download edition feature. Reporting is relatively impartial when compared to many UK outlets (especially the bbc during election season). Broad range of UK and global issues covered concisely with links to related articles if you want to read more. Overall app runs smoothly.

The Indy needs to do something about the banner advertisements that appear at the bottom on the app screen. For several days the banner has linked to an Asian pornographic website. Admittedly, as I'm viewing the Independent in China, this may be a local problem. But, even so, it is not to be welcomed in a family newspaper.

Easy to use and stable on Android 6.0 in my experience. Would prefer to use it in landscape for easier reading especially on a phone. It's quicker to load than The Guardian app.

Excellent news coverage but the actual app works so badly. The screen freezes so frequently that I rarely use it. Terrible waste of excellent journalism.

In my opinion this is the ONLY news app worth reading and also having as a smartphone app, most of the other newspaper apps are pretty poor, Well done independent for being different in a far better way, I am done with the BBC following there corrupt election coverage, I have also deleted the BBC news app from my phone and notebook, I find the independent far better and non bias.

Has had the same news for 3 days, including Carrie Fisher being 'stable' when in fact sadly she has passed away. Appalling.

Considering The Independent is now digital only this app & therefore the newspaper is a complete failure. It's a shame as I liked the journalism

Good content... but app hangs about 50% of the time when opening articles. Unusable as it currently stands.

This app has been dreadful for years now. Constantly crashing, not updating and freezing. Surprised given that this is their only platform now.

Like the content, hate the app. App is very buggy and gets in the way of reading the news. Hanging, black screen, not reloading are just some of the problems. Been like this for ages so they don't seem to be in a hurry to fix.

Loved it when in print... So glad it's continuing on line. We need quality journalism that's free of political bias. Too much powerful right wing press in uk.

Absolutely awful app, always crashes, is clunky and slow. I don't know why I bothered with it as long as I did. Definitely THE WORST app I have installed.

This newspaper is anything but 'independent' it is blatantly pro EU, anti Brexit and pro Labour. If you want unbiased reporting look elsewhere

Broken as often as it works. This bug-laden, glitchy app lets the excellent content down. News doesn't change from one day to the next.

Periodic crashing. It's been doing this on and off for the last 4 years. Shame. As the news writing is very high quality.

We need this free voice. I keep turning to it when Google gets stuck in a rut or follows everyone else. Strong fresh content and opinions

Most of our newspapers are right wing biased, not so the Independent. Great honest reporting!!!

I have returned using the webpage as despite numerous updates it crashes every time in minutes use and does not work off-line (galaxy note 4)

Didn't have any of the issues other users complain about, no bugs, no crashes. Very interesting articles, excellent work.

Always surprising and rewarding to open the Independent app and read the take on current world events. Lang may the Independent's lang reek !

Every time you open the app it starts downloading the updated articles. After this it crashes repeatedly.

OK and great journalism but app not a patch on Guardian with its 'live' sections providing minute by minute updates on key stories, or sorry to say Daily Mail with its sheer amount of news turnover.

Abridged version of paper but a useful Leftish slant to the other MSM apps. Arts coverage poor
