It shows just a blank phone sketch, no setting buttons, no info about what to do. The only thing working are the ads at the bottom of the screen!

If you ARE a true photographer, then you will understand and get this meter! As a True Photographer, I know first had that my meter might die with the batteries. .. so as a back up , this is perfect! If you are Not a TRUE PHOTOGRAPHER, than don't make comments that you don't have a clue of what the blank you are talking about!
